The Male Lead's Boyfriend Is Obsessed With Me

MLBOWM Chapter 91

Chapter 91

“When did you get all the way out here?”

I took a quick step back, but before I could even take two steps, a strong hand gripped my arm.

I swallowed a groan and clenched my fist. There was nothing in my hand. I’d already shoved the gun back into the holster on my thigh just seconds ago.

If I’d known this was going to happen, I wouldn’t have put it away and kept it in my hand.

But there was no use regretting it now. Taking it out at this point would just be showing my hand.

I’d been caught off guard by Angel earlier, so even if I’d held onto the gun from the beginning, I might have lost it before I could do anything.

“Did you come to meet me? I was just about to head out.”

Tension wrapped tightly around me.

Kang Taejun, who seemed like walking danger incarnate, had changed into a blood-red suit, unlike earlier, maybe because he was heading out to meet Yugyeom.

Why did Kang Taejun have to appear here now?

Right after the question crossed my mind, a thought I hadn’t realized before flashed through my head. Angel, who’d been avoiding my questions all this time, had suddenly started spilling his story—was he just stalling until Kang Taejun got here?

“Have you eaten yet? I ate with Yugyeom,” Kang Taejun said in a cheerful voice, deliberately mentioning Yugyeom. I knew he was fishing for a reaction, but it was hard to keep my anxiety in check.

“I even brought him a gift.”

What is he up to? What on earth is he planning?

I glanced past Kang Taejun’s shoulder. An open door, an empty staircase. Freedom was right there.

But the problem was how to get past him. It wouldn’t be easy to shake him off and escape.

“But really, how did you get out?”

He asked so casually, a wide smile spreading across his face. He looked happier than I’d ever seen him.

“Did you leave our angel behind somewhere?”

Kang Taejun leaned his face closer to mine. His pitch-black eyes scanned me thoroughly from head to toe. Feeling uneasy, I swallowed hard and leaned back as far as I could.

“You didn’t kill him, did you?”

Just as I felt like I was running out of breath, his persistent gaze finally left me and shifted over my shoulder.

A chilling premonition crept up my spine.

“Oh.”

Kang Taejun muttered in admiration, tilting his head slightly.

“What’s with the look? Like you got shot or something….”

His curious gaze returned to me.

“…Aha.”

He looked me over again, as if he’d figured out exactly what had happened, then smirked and ran his hand through his dark red hair.

“You know how to shoot at people? After hiding it so well, how did you manage to find a gun?”

A cold shiver ran down my leg, where the gun was tucked. I clenched my dress with my empty hands.

Fortunately, it seemed he hadn’t realized I actually had a gun.

“You’ve got skills, huh? How about joining our side, even now?”

Kang Taejun laughed, locking eyes with me.

“It’s too late.”

Just then, a blunt voice came from behind me.

“You’re never on time.”

The sound of slow, approaching footsteps grew closer.

When they finally stopped right behind me, I turned my head. The feeling of déjà vu washed over me.

“Sorry, sorry.”

But the clear, innocent eyes that had once relieved the stifling, bloody air were no longer there.
But the clear, innocent eyes that once cut through the stifling, bloody air were now gone.

Blond hair, matted with blood, clung to his forehead, and the blood flowed continuously down his shoulders.

In such a ruined state because of me, Angel looked down at me with a calm expression.

As if everything he had told me earlier was nothing but a fabricated lie.

Seeing that expression, a foolish hope stirred within me.

I wished that it was all a lie.

Even if everything I had seen until now had been fake, it didn’t matter—as long as that story was a lie too.

“I told you I don’t like getting my hands dirty.”

The eyes that looked at me were as cold as his voice.

“You have the skills, so why?”

Kang Taejun pointed to his own forehead with his finger, right where Angel’s blood was flowing.

“Was that you going easy on him?”

Angel furrowed his brow at Kang Taejun’s words and touched the spot where the blood was dripping. The wound looked pretty severe, and he seemed to have only just noticed it.

“Didn’t expect you to get hurt. If I’d known, I would’ve come a bit sooner.”

Kang Taejun chuckled.

“Didn’t even notice how time flew since it’s been so long since we last met.”

“……”

“I didn’t know you’d be waiting so eagerly for me, 44. I should’ve paid more attention to you. Were you upset?”

Kang Taejun shrugged playfully, still gripping me tightly.

At that, Angel’s face hardened, similar to the expression he’d get whenever he hated something I said.

“Is the sunset over?”

The sky beyond the hallway window was already deepening into a dark blue as the sunset faded away.

“Let’s go down.”

I shifted my gaze from the window back up to Kang Taejun.

The instant our eyes met, I felt a surge of instinctual danger. I tried to pull my hand free from his grip.

But Kang Taejun tightened his hold on my arm and yanked me forward. I stumbled, my body leaning toward him until I came to an abrupt stop.

“You’re coming with me.”

The cold, hard barrel of a gun pressed against my shoulder, freezing me in place.

“I’m on my way to meet Yugyeom right now.”

“I don’t know how you managed to get this far, but unfortunately, it was all in vain. No one can access that floor.”

As we descended the stairs, Kang Taejun spoke. I stared at his back as he walked ahead of me.

“Guess 44 didn’t tell you. So ruthless.”

Angel followed in silence from behind. This staircase looked like it hadn’t been used in ages—there wasn’t a soul in sight.

The farther we went down, the darker the sky grew beyond the windows on each floor.

He said we were going to meet Yugyeom. That meant I had no choice but to follow, yet there was no way to escape here. There was no one to call for help, and every path ahead and behind was blocked.

“…Where is Yugyeom right now?”

I kept opening and closing my mouth, hesitant, before finally gathering the courage to ask.

“Where else would he be? Probably at the casino.”

It wasn’t a particularly hopeful answer. My impression of the casino wasn’t great, mostly because of what I’d seen on the first day. Thinking about it made me feel even more uneasy.

“Don’t worry. It’ll be fun.”

Kang Taejun turned his head back to look at me and smiled. Seeing that smile made my heart pound even louder than before.

“Looks like we have a little time to spare.”

The city outside the window was getting closer. Billboards lit up, and neon signs gleamed in bright colors.

I could tell we were almost at the casino floor.

“Want to hear a fun story?”

Kang Taejun asked in a cheerful voice. I wanted to say no, but my mouth was so dry that I couldn’t bring myself to speak.

“Doesn’t look like you really want to hear it.”

Feeling caught out, I stared at his burgundy-colored hair with wide eyes. I hadn’t even looked at him or responded, yet somehow he could tell.

“Well, is there anything you’re curious about?”

Kang Taejun suddenly stopped. Then he turned around completely to face me.
“Doesn’t look like you really want to hear it.”

Feeling exposed, I stared wide-eyed at his burgundy hair. He hadn’t even looked at my face or heard me answer, so how did he know?

“Then, is there anything you’re curious about?”

Kang Taejun suddenly stopped and fully turned to face me.

“Since it’s the last time, I’ll tell you whatever you want to hear.”

Was he serious? I looked into his murky eyes, feeling a surge of doubt rise within me.

He was just looking at me silently, with a faint smile, as if he was genuinely waiting for me to ask what I wanted to know.

“…….”

A tangled mess of thoughts rushed through my mind.

There was no guarantee he’d answer honestly even if I asked. And yet, I couldn’t bring myself to speak right away.

“……Are you going to kill YuYugyeom?”

Afraid of his answer, I couldn’t bring myself to look into Kang Taejun’s eyes. My heart was pounding so hard it felt like it would burst.

Would he end up dying, just like in the original story? Would Kang Taejun be the one to kill him again? If he dies, when, where, why, and under what circumstances?

I was so tired of living in constant fear. But I couldn’t erase it from my mind, either.

“Why?”

“…….”

“Why would you want to kill him?”

My trembling voice echoed through the empty stairwell, like a haunting refrain, sinking deep into my heart once more.

Taking a deep breath, I shifted my gaze, which had been looking off to the side.

Kang Taejun’s face, as he looked at me had subtly hardened. May be I was imagining it, but he seemed to be seriously contemplating his response.

A heavy silence filled the space for being while. Just as weight of it was beginning to suffocate me, Kang Taejun finally spoke.

“Yugyeom and I alike. I felt that from moment I saw him.”

A dark smile spread across his lips like blank ink. He looked at me so intensely that I almost looked away.

“Off course, we are similar, but not the entirely similar. That’s what make interesting and yet… Sometimes it bother me so much that I want to kill him.”

His words were laced with unmistakable sincerety. I couldn’t believe he was lying.

As if recalling something amusing, he raised the corners of his mouth in vivid smile and whisperred slowly.

“What if one day, I couldn’t hold back and ended up killing him? That would such a tragedy, wouldn’t it?”

The raw honesty of his words struck me so hard that I involuntarily step back.

“That’s why I want to kill him at his most perfect moment.”

Kang Taejun lifted his hand to where it would be.
