The Fake Wants to Leave

Two hours have already passed like this.

Charlize was tired of seeing the stream of endless new dresses.

And they planned to go to ten more stores if none of the dresses suited their tastes.

How much time was she wasting in one clothing store right now?

Charlize pulled Lily’s sleeve lightly, trying to get her attention.

Lily, who was busy looking and checking the dresses, turned her head when she saw Charlize’s hand pulling on her sleeve.

“Can’t I just pick anything?”

“Just pick anything? No, Sister.”

“I’m feeling nauseous just looking at the dresses.”

“Then just pick out three dresses that you want.”

Charlize had seen most of the fancy dresses, and her opinion was they were all the same.

It wasn’t like there wasn’t a dress that she didn’t really like.

It was just her eyes were hurting from the extravagantness.

“If there’s nothing you like, I have no choice but to pick one in your stead.”

Lily turned her head back to the front and carefully examined the new dresses around her.

Charlize sighed at Lily’s stubbornness.

She then quietly nudged Lena’s arm, who was standing next to her, with her elbow.

“Lena, which dress do you think suits me best?”

“Hmm. Of all the dresses I’ve seen so far, there hasn’t been a single one that didn’t suit you.”

At Lena’s whisper, Charlize narrowed her eyes.

‘That’s not what I asked, Lena.’

She wanted to use this chance to ask Lena to pick a dress that would suit her. But it was all for naught.

Why are you so clueless?

Lena.

Charlize shook her head, consoling herself that it was fine if Lena didn’t want to help.

Then Lena suddenly opened her mouth and advised her with her witty sense.

“How about choosing dresses in colors that match Miss Charlize’s eyes? One in gold color. You can pick a black one that matches Miss Charlize’s hair color, and the last one in blue, the same color as Tia’s eyes.”

“Why Tia?”

“The people of this Empire consider it as an act of affection to keep a small item related to the color of the eyes whom they cherish. I’ve read it in a book.”

“Lena, you really read a lot of books. You even know such details.”

“I like to gain knowledge. I’ve heard rumors that if you wear clothes that are the same color as the eyes of your significant other, they’ll really like it.”

“Hmm. I see.”

At Lena’s wise advice, Charlize patted Lily’s arm, who was still distracted by the new dresses.

“Tia. I think I have a rough idea of what color dress I want.”

“Really?”

Lily was visibly pleased by Charlize’s words.

“Yeah. I’ve thought about the color of the dress I want.”

“What color is it? Just tell me.”

“A gold dress, a black dress, and a blue dress that resembles the color of your eyes.”

“… Huh?”

“I chose these colors. What’s wrong, do you think they won’t suit me?”

“No, no. That’s not it. Why would you want a dress that resembles the color of my eyes?”

Lily asked Charlize with a curious face.

“Because you’re precious to me.”

“… Really? I’m precious to you?”

“Yes. You’re my precious little sister. We share a lot of secrets with each other. So I might feel a little empty without having something around to remind me of you.”

Lily looked very touched at her words. She took Charlize’s hands in her own and said with pure affection in her eyes.

“Sister. I love you.”

“Me too.”

Lily wanted to take her sister to the temple right away and register their marriage at Charlize’s unhesitating response.

But she couldn’t.

Even though homosexuality was allowed in this world, incest was not.

‘I wonder if I should ask Brother Eugene to disown me and my sister.’

Lily had forgotten to choose a dress for Charlize and was busy thinking about marrying Charlize, adopting children, and building a happy family, and even going further.

“Sister, I really can’t live without you. You know how much I love you, right?”

“Um. A bit?”

“Not a bit, a lot.”

“Yeah. I know you’re incredibly obsessed with me.”

“Don’t forget that obsession is a form of love for my sister. Okay?”

“Okay, so let’s quickly choose a dress and go to another store. If we keep doing this, we’ll end up spending the whole day here.”

“Okay! I’ll pick out a dress based on the colors you mentioned.”

“Please.”

“On my birthday party, you have to shine the brightest. I’ll work hard to make it happen!”

“… Okay.”

Why on earth would you want someone else to shine at your own birthday party?

Charlize was a little taken aback by Lily’s words, but she didn’t bother to ponder on it.

It was better for her if she didn’t think much about it.

“Sister, rest in the lounge over there. I’ll tell you when I’ve finished choosing.”

If there was a lounge, you should have told me earlier!

Charlize nodded and walked in the direction Lily had pointed.

Soon, a door that read ‘Lounge’ appeared in Charlize’s sight. She opened the door and quickly went inside before plopping down on the long, soft-looking sofa with an exhausted sigh.

Lena also approached the sofa and sat next to Charlize.

“It’s so hard living as a noble lady.”

“But everyone wants to be a noble. After all, status is the most important thing in this world.”

“In the real world, thanks to smartphones, I could shop with just one finger. This place is so old-fashioned. I’m tired.”

“Well. But isn’t this better than the real world? You have the rare chance of becoming a god. There are so many benefits to becoming a god.”

“What kind of benefits?”

“You can create other subordinates and pass on all the work to them, and you can even make a list of things you want to do like shopping. Being a god is more comfortable than you think, Lady Charlize.”

“That’s just using others to do my own work.”

“There’s no place higher than a god in this world. Using others to do their work is a god’s right.”

“Well, I have to become a god first to do that.”

“You’ll become a god in no time if you continue this progress. Just wait.”

Charlize relieved her fatigue by having a brief conversation with Lena.

Nevertheless, what would she do if she became a god?

For the first time, Charlize had thoughts other than leaving.

***

With Charlize and Tia gone, the Duke of Rebecca’s residence was extremely deserted.

Eugene Rebecca, who allowed Tia to go shopping with Charlize, was working alone in his office.

It felt a little melancholic to be alone in this large office.

Usually, Jeremy should have been lying on the sofa there and chattering to random topics, but he was absent currently as he was receiving psychotherapy.

Jeremy seemed to be wandering around the border between reality and dreams.

Finding no other choice, Eugene told the servants not to enter Jeremy’s room unless it was absolutely necessary. Except for the counselor, no was allowed in Jeremy’s room.

Haa.

Eugene let out a long sigh and tried to focus his attention back to his work. But today, for various reasons, he couldn’t do it well. With a tired expression, he put his hand on his forehead as if suppressing a headache.

Just at that moment, a sudden haze appeared in front of him. John’s face was revealed after it disappeared.

Eugene quickly got up from his seat at John’s appearance and greeted him.

“What brings the Great Archmage to our residence?”

John gestured to Eugene, who bowed his head, indicating Eugene to stop his respectful act.

Eugene lifted his head up stiffly, as per John’s order.

“I came to see Charlize. How is she?”

“She went to the capital with Tia if you’re wondering.”

“With Tia? For what?”

“Did you not receive the invitation to Tia’s birthday party that I sent you?”

“Oh, I did.”

“She dragged Charlize to the capital with her because she wanted to go shopping for the occasion.”

“Why the capital?”

“Why, did something happen in the capital?”

“Yes. I heard a rumor that His Majesty has a pet that runs wild in the capital. I came out here to see Charlize on His Majesty’s orders.”

“Oh, what kind of pet does His Majesty have…?”

“A black cat. The one that always loves to scratch His Majesty’s face.”

“Oh. Are you talking about the cat His Majesty always used to carry?”

“Yeah. That cat somehow escaped the palace while we were busy looking for Tia.”

John sighed and shrugged.

“It’s all my fault, John.”

“I don’t hold you responsible.”

“My younger brother should have guarded the palace properly. I apologize for the mess.”

“It’s okay. I heard he went crazy because of Charlize.”

“…Yes.”

Haa, what on earth is Charlize thinking?”

“Could you tell me what Charlize did on the Island of the Sick?”

Eugene didn’t know anything about what happened to Charlize and Tia on the Island of the Sick, and it just occurred to him now.

Well, Tia didn’t mention anything, and Charlize didn’t come out of her room either.

So Eugene had no idea what happened there.

In the end, he had no choice but to ask John. Since he had accompanied Charlize, he should know what had happened there.

Eugene seemed to be concerned that John might be offended by his request.

However, John readily began to tell the story.

“All thanks to Charlize, I was able to witness many rare sights.”
