The Extra Guardian Missed the Right Time to Leave

CHAPTER 026

Eugenia thought for a moment with a troubled expression. Enrique told her to wait in the room, but she felt uncomfortable.

An hour ago, she went down to the first floor and settled the lodging fee with the innkeeper. At that time, the owner asked her several times when she was leaving, and she realized that he wanted her to vacate the room quickly.

Tap, tap, tap, tap.

The tips of her fingernails gripping the window frame moved nervously. What should she do? After a short period of deliberation, she finally found a compromise that suited her.

‘Wouldn’t it be okay if I just looked in front of the inn?’

Then, since she did not leave the inn, she did not disobey Enrique’s words. Eugenia wrapped her hood around her face as if she were right.

“I’ll go out and check the situation, so you guys stay here.”

Even though she warned her children to take precautions, she still seemed not to be completely at ease, so she repeated the warning as she turned the handle of her door.

“You must not come out until I return… uh?”

“It’s finally come out.”

Eugenia’s eyes widened. It was because of the two men who were waiting for me in front of the door.

Eugenia, who recognized their identities at a glance, was unable to hide her embarrassment and stammered out his name.

“…uh? Enrique? And Mr. Albury?”

He was definitely not there when she came back up to the room after paying.

“See you again.”

Albury waved her hand and greeted her in confusion.

“Are you ready?”

Enrique, who had been leaning against the wall in the hallway, lifted his body to his feet and turned to Eugenia. Meeting him in a narrow space made her realize again how tall he was.

“Uh, when did you come?”

“It hasn’t been long.”

“If you had come, if you had even given me a sign, I would have hurried a little more…”

“Because I don’t feel the need to do that.”

After a brief response, Enrique’s gaze drifted downward. Eugenia’s eyes also followed him downward.

“But what are you looking at… uh? When did you guys come out?”

Selmia and Joshua stood on either side of Eugenia, as if to protect her. To be precise, Joshua was the only one with a light in his eyes.

“Wow! You’re really handsome!”

Selmia was admiring the looks of the two men.

‘If something like this happened, wouldn’t it be better to say hello right away?’

That was when Eugenia nudged her children’s backs so they could come forward a little more. But Enrique’s mouth opened before hers.

“They say they’re younger brothers, but there’s no resemblance between them.”

It was a tone that could be said to be quite harsh. To be honest, Eugenia was a little embarrassed because she had something to worry about. However, she tried not to show it and answered in the most casual tone possible.

“Do I have to tell you about my family history?”

Enrique shrugged his shoulders.

“No, you don’t have to. That’s not important at all.”

The deeper you get to know each other, the greater the disadvantage you must take on. It was a contract between the two to maintain an appropriate distance and use each other.

“Be careful about asking personal questions.”

“Thank you.”

Enrique continued to check on the children.

“By the way, the children’s hair is pitch black.”

“As you can see.”

“I’m glad about that.”

Eugenia pursed her lips and tilted her head to one side, as it was difficult to understand the context of the conversation. Fortunately, Eugenia didn’t have to wonder that question for long. This was because Albery suddenly intervened and added something.

“In my heart, I feel fortunate. I was secretly worried about what would happen if my appearance was quite different from Enrique’s.”

Albury looked quite excited. She looked towards Joshua and continued her conversation.

“Especially in the case of this boy, his mood and impression are quite similar to Enrique. Especially shooting it. At this level, even if it were just the two of you, everyone would completely believe it.”

That’s what it was about. As she puts herself in the role of Enrique’s wife, the twins would naturally take on that role. Eugenia understood immediately and nodded her head.

‘What else can I say?’

Then she stepped aside.

“Let’s come in and talk. It’s not something we’ll keep talking about outside.”

It was because it was difficult to talk in an open space, even if it was because of the children. All four people obediently followed Eugenia’s opinion and walked inside. With five people together, the already small room became even more crowded. Moreover, something happened right before the door closed.

“What?”

This was because a sound of disgust came out of Joshua’s mouth. The boy looked at Enrique with a dissatisfied look in his eyes and spoke as if he was chewing on each word.

“Do I have to become that man’s son or something?”

Eugenia said as she looked down at the boy with a puzzled look next to her.

“Uh… hmm… Joshua, we talked about it in the room earlier, right?”

Joshua was adamant.

“No. I didn’t say anything like this. Just yes… No, my sister said that fake marriages are ‘very’ and ‘only for a short time’.”

But why did it seem like only certain words are given strength? Eugenia closed her eyes tightly and touched her forehead.

‘If you start being stubborn like this, they’ll keep holding you back until you convince me, so it’s quite a pain in the ass. Ugh, what on earth are you offended by?’

Her whole head hurt. Meanwhile, Enrique was quietly watching the two people bickering with an expressionless face, as if he was not interested.

Then he suddenly opened his mouth without warning.

“So.”

Joshua grunted, frowning at her.

“What’s wrong?”

“Well. That’s why I’m asking you if you won’t play that role.”

“That…”

“I don’t think you realize how hard your sister worked all day to get this job. I do not care. But will you be okay? If you insist that you won’t do this, all you’ll end up doing is holding your sister back.”

Joshua looked offended at Enrique’s words, which accurately pointed out reality. However, his pride seemed to be quite damaged by retreating like this, so he did not ease his momentum.

“Who… Who would do that?”

Enrique snorted inaudibly and quickly tried to settle the situation.

“Then you have the answer. Follow me obediently.”

Joshua pursed his lips and clenched his small fists tightly. He knew better than that man what kind of effort Eugenia was putting in. So, he would cooperate with her for her own sake, but somehow…

‘I don’t like it.’

Joshua pouted his lips.

The boy, who was trying to control his anger, probably realized that he was the only one belatedly, and spoke in a much lower voice.

“I can act like a son. But why do you have to act like a father?”

However, he seemed to have no intention of hiding the youthful sharpness in his tone of voice.

Eugenia felt a headache.

Two men…

‘Can I say two men? Joshua is a boy.’

Well, anyway. There was a fierce look in the eyes between Joshua and Enrique. To be precise, Joshua was the only one who got angry, and Enrique did not necessarily avoid the stares that came his way. It looked like there was a fight going on.

Joshua stretched out his finger and pointed at Albury.

“That dishonest man can do it!”

“It’s a shame…”

Albury folded his hands over his chest with a hurt look on his face, as if he had a complex. Eugenia pressed her thumb to her temple with a weary look on her face. She had to convince Joshua to stop his rampage, but her mind was stiff and she had no idea what to do.

How long was it in silence like that? Enrique swallowed his sigh and opened his mouth.

“This boy is less patient than I thought.”

Joshua was furious.

“Ha! What? What does he know about me…!”

“There is a saying that you can see ten when you see one.”

Enrique crossed his arms and tilted his head in one slow motion.

“It’s only a few days. Even that is an imitation that is only done in front of others. When I see them say they can’t stand it and say they don’t want to do it, I think they don’t have patience.”

Joshua pursed his lips as if speechless. Enrique withdrew his gaze from the boy as if he had nothing else to do and struck the final blow.

“Or, do you have no confidence? If that’s the case, I apologize.”

Joshua’s eyes narrowed. A terrifying fire was emanating from the eyes that were looking at Enrique.

“What are you apologizing for, uncle?”

“Are you saying you won’t accept an apology?”

“Of course!”

His voice grew louder as the argument heated up.

“There is nothing in this world that I can’t do!”

Enrique didn’t leave any time, and asked a question the moment Joshua finished speaking.

“Then you can play my son well too. Are you so good and perfect that even I can hold back my unpleasant feelings and hold out my tongue?”

“Of course! Just wait and see! I will do it perfectly!”

“…good. Good.”

Only after hearing Joshua’s confirmation did the expression disappear from Enrique’s face. He pulled up the corners of his mouth, and a mischievous smile appeared on his lips for a brief moment, enough to be considered a fleeting moment, and then erased it.

“…Despicably.”

Belatedly, Joshua showed a troubled expression. This was because he was angry when he realized that he had been stopped by Enrique.

‘…ah.’
