The Duke and Duchess' Divorce Circumstances

CHAPTER 024: Marin's Web

At that time, the protagonist who caused the incident was playing with Pooh in the garden, avoiding the eyes of the household employees.

Every time they saw a black dog, everyone felt uncomfortable, so she couldn’t help it. In the Ruivan mansion, the only people who didn’t care about Pooh were Ramiel and Kreha.

The look of disbelief that such a thing had come to Ruivan was followed by the annoyance that the lady was so happy to have brought it that they couldn’t say anything about it. Even someone as authoritative as Taylor or Wilpoff did not stop the lady, and above all, the master had told them to leave it alone, so there was nothing more they could do.

However, even if everyone was scared, Pooh loved people very much. When he saw someone other than Ray, he wagged his tail, smiled, and ran over to rub against them. It was so adorable that she couldn’t help but smile, but when she saw the black fur, he couldn’t help but pet it.

As a result, Ray was completely responsible for Pooh’s care. Cooking, feeding, cleaning up excrement, and washing were things that a noble would never do.

They just held their pets in their arms and loved them. All the troublesome and difficult work was done by the employees. In such a situation, it was extremely inconvenient for the employees for Ray to roll up his sleeves and step forward.

They were torn between the fact that their madam had ‘dared’ them to do what they had to do, and the fact that it was inauspicious to touch and take care of a black dog.

If the master found out that they had made her do something like that, even though she was such a pretty and cherished wife, they might have their heads cut off.

However, whether she knew it or not, Madam declared that if they were going to treat Pooh without affection or mistreat it, it would be better to do nothing and that she would do it. And she really kept her word.

“Ma’am, what are you doing?”

Kreha asked while looking at Ray who was diligently shoveling a corner of the garden.

Ray did not miss Kreha’s training today either. When she trained, she wore pants because she had to move her body, so she trained diligently. It was the only time she could wear comfortable clothes.

“It looks like Pooh has found a new bathroom.”

“A noble lady who cleans up dog poop with a shovel.”

“Are you dissatisfied?”

“No. You look great.”

“Yes! Yes!”

Pooh, who was next to Ray, rushed at Kreha, wagging his tail.

While she was training, she tied him to a tree because she was afraid that the puppy would come and get hurt, but she thought that the puppy would think that he was harassing his owner and himself.

However, Pooh also showered affection on Kreha. But he just found it annoying.

Kreha nudged Pooh, who was clinging to him, with his foot, and Pooh seemed to think he was playing with him and ran even more excitedly. Maybe it’s because it’s a large dog, but even though it’s a puppy, it’s quite heavy when you lunge at it with your whole body.

“Ma’am, training ends today.”

“Uh? Why?”

“I heard you don’t have time to receive training to prepare for the future royal invitation.”

“Who told you that?”

“You are going to be a butler.”

Ray’s face crumpled.

She only wanted to do as she was told by buying a 180 billion dollar accident, but the butler’s extremely strict training was outside of that scope.

“…I’m embarrassed for once.”

She felt like she was coming to her senses now. When she thought about the true education of the butler, the culprit, the necklace, came to mind.

‘180 billion. Did it turn?’

Instead of holding Ramiel and crying, she should have just told the people who participated in the tea party that she was talking nonsense.

Ray Alexis’s image was at a low level anyway, and everyone was expecting her to brag about having captured Duke Ruivan, so couldn’t she at least brag like this to meet their expectations?

The original goal was to create a negative image so that no one would mention her as a marriage partner, so it worked out better.

“I was really crazy. I asked him to buy 180 billion paves’ yewelly.”

For some reason, everyone was so shocked. She was fortunate to come to her senses within a day.

Ray handed over her shovel handle to Kreha and quickly ran into the mansion. She followed her master furiously.

“Where is he?”

“The master is in his office.”

Ray, who saw the servant startled at the sight of Pooh at his feet, lifted Pooh into her arms and opened the door to her office.

In addition to Ramiel, Wilpoff and Taylor were also in hte room.

“You’re welcome here, Ray.”

“Rael, I have something to tell you.”

“Pwoff!”

Ray suddenly hugged Pooh in her arms and handed it to Taylor who was next to her.

“Please take care of him for a while.”

Taylor, who had suddenly caught the black dog in his arms, looked down at the dog in his arms with a shocked expression.

“Heh, heh.”

The all-black dog stuck out its red tongue and waggled its tail furiously.

“Ray, what do you have to say?”

“Marin’s web.”

This was a topic that the three men had mentioned just a moment ago. Taylor, who was looking down at the dog in his arms, also raised his head again and looked at Ray.

“You two, please leave the room for a moment.”

The determination in the lady’s voice seemed to indicate that the story was going to be positive. The master had said such scary things that they were appalled, but they were glad that the lady would take care of him.

The two quickly left the office and exchanged a brief, wordless look.

The look in their eyes that says, ‘I survived!’

“I will take care of it.”

“Ray?”

Ramiel asked in a tone of voice, ‘Is the Leanello family that rich?’

“I can cancel my words. It’s just a matter of talking, so it’s okay if they forgive me as much as they want.”

Her eyes were determined, as if she wasn’t joking.

“Is it easy to cancel? Isn’t that why Ray cried so much?”

Her face lit up as she remembered crying on Ramiel’s lap.

“Hmm. I was a bit young back then.”

“It was yesterday?”

“I think adults are capable of self-reflection in one night.”

Actually, it just occurred to her out of the blue, but it’s only been a day since the accident, so let’s just call it that.

“180 billion paves! It’s crazy, I did it to save face. Just say you lied to show off. It’s also true. What if I don’t wear that necklace?”

“So you decided to become a braggart?”

“Yes. So, Ramiel doesn’t have to worry about it anymore.”

“My wife is a liar and she doesn’t care. I love my wife so much that if it is for my wife, I would be the kind of man who would turn his eyes upside down. Do you think I would see that?”

It seemed like a very lovely line, but the voice was extremely desolate.

“It may not be as fancy as Marin’s Web, but wouldn’t it be okay to wear a fancy necklace and name her something like ‘Marin’s Web’ or ‘Marin’s Walking’? I guess I can just insist that they heard wrong.”

After hearing Ray’s solution, Ramiel quietly opened his mouth.

“…Ray.”

“Yes.”

“Marin’s web will reach Ruivan before we go to the imperial court.”

“Yes?”

Ray made a shocked face with eyes of disbelief.

“Rael, no Ramiel. You were too absorbed in the contract. No matter how much you love your wife, this is not it. What kind of love costs 180 billion paves? You can’t do it because it’s so expensive. Even if Ramiel truly loved me, if your wife says something crazy, you have to stop her! What if you get caught up next to her?”

Ray’s complexion was worse than when she first confessed to having had an accident. She seemed to have a hint of fear on her pale face.

“Do you know that the remarriage law is being revised?”

“You can remarry regardless of responsibility? Yes. I know.”

“We want to keep each other accountable. But if that doesn’t matter, we, especially me, will get caught up in more troublesome things.”

Under the pretext that the person responsible could not remarry, the two decided to check whether both parties were at fault in the event of a divorce. It would probably be an unprecedented and unique event since the founding of the country.

However, if the law was changed, that clause would become nothing more than garbage, and the couple would be able to appear on the marriage market again. That’s why Ray made a 180 billion paves joke at the Tea Party.

“No matter how much it is, it’s not 180 billion.”

“Even Ray is getting angry like this, so I guess I’ll have to buy more.”

“No, why do you conclude like that!”

Ramiel said with an emotionless smile at Ray’s words.

“Is there really anyone else who can beat 180 billion Paves?”

“Ah…!”

It was an answer that made the back of her head tingle.

This was consistent with Ray himself deliberately going around getting criticized for the sake of his reputation as ‘Ray Alexis is a person you can’t deal with.’

She chose this method because she was a non-noble who would not be greatly affected even if she was criticized and would not go near the capital from now on, but Ramiel was different.

He was a young nobleman with great charm, enough to occupy the top rank in all of Lytham, and his family’s reputation was also enormous. Since the fact that the former master openly took a concubine could be ignored, divorce couldn’t be considered a flaw.

“But, no matter what. 180 billion is…”

Although it was an amount that you may get tired of hearing and that would dissuade anyone from approaching it hastily, such a large amount couldn’t help but take a toll on Ruivan’s finances.

And since the head of the family had no intention of getting married, it was unclear who would succeed Ruivan. Was he trying to bring his cousin or nephew who was related to him?

“Is Ruivan okay?”

Ray asked a question that contained all of this.

“This is not a family that would be in big trouble if one mine disappeared.”

A big, unexpected word tumbled out of Ramiel’s mouth.

“Yes? What mine? Did you say a mine?”

“Among the mines owned by Ruivan, I disposed of one of the mid-sized magic stone mines, so I could buy a necklace.”

Her shock came in one hit after another.

The first was that the Ruivan family had several mines. Next, he planed to sell the precious magic stone mine to buy necklaces and such.

“…This person must be crazy, really.”

Ramiel frowned at the sound of criticism he heard in his own face.

“Ramiel, don’t frown and listen to me. Don’t do something you’ll probably regret later. I’ll just swear at you one more time.”

“I will not overturn it.”

“Then, how about deciding on an amount of about 50 billion paves instead of 180 billion?”

“Don’t make me say the same thing twice…”

“180 billion paves is the amount of money that went into building Hella Station!”

It was a station built by the Leanello family, a latecomer in the train business, with all the most up-to-date facilities to survive in the most competitive train business between Hella and the capital.

Temperature-regulating magic stones were placed here and there to keep it cool in the summer and warm in the winter, and the indoor garden had flowers in bloom all year round, giving off a delicate scent.

There were separate lounge facilities for VIPs, and places where people could rest while waiting for their trains have been installed here and there in the station. In addition, thanks to the presence of shops where you could shop and a rest area where you could play simple games for free, Leanello’s Hella Station had become a popular spot for people who did not take the train to come and have fun.

Ray desperately tried to stop him by disclosing the cost of a project that would have devastated the family, but Ramiel seemed completely unimpressed.

“Are you really going to buy me Marin’s Web?”

Finally, when she asked him as if she wanted to get a definite answer, he gave her an expression that seemed to tell her to stop asking and nodded slightly.

“Taylor! Wilpoff!”

Ray called out loudly for the two people and the door opened in less than 10 seconds as they were near the office.

Pooh, who had been waiting for the owner at the door, was the first to run in, followed by two others.

“Stop this person!”

It was reported that the lady also failed to change the master’s mind.
