The Duke and Duchess' Divorce Circumstances

CHAPTER 023: A New Family

“Hey, young lady. Can I take this puppy?”

“What? That child?”

Caitlin looked at the witch of Ravidon with puzzled eyes.

It was a sinister dog, but because of its self-image, she couldn’t help but keep it inside her house. Because a good person like Caitlin should take care of the black dog and not abandon it.

But the witch came forward and said that she would take it away.

‘Is she serious?’

“It’s black and cute just like me. I will take it.”

Ray knew that people called her a witch because of her black hair and compared her to a black dog or cat. The fact that she put that fact into her own mouth was also a kind of warning, saying, ‘I know it all, too.’

Ray held the puppy in her arms.

She was saddened to think that while its other siblings ran around the marquis’s spacious gardens with scarves around their necks, the black one was alone on a leash and tied up. So the affection suddenly went away.

“Thank you so, so much.”

Her sincere eyes sparkled and looked at Caitlin.

Caitlin was a little embarrassed by the sincere look in her eyes. She had no idea what kind of person Ray Alexis was. What made Duke Ruivan choose this woman?

“Is the party over now?”

At the same time as Ray asked the question, carriages from each family arrived one after another at the entrance to the garden in the distance.

It was a carriage that had to transport ladies on their way home.

“What is that?”

Ramiel asked, looking at Ray standing in front of the carriage.

“It’s a puppy. I got it as a tea party gift.”

Ramiel looked like he had a lot to say, but he just shut his mouth for now and helped Ray onto the carriage.

And as soon as the door closed and the carriage moved, he asked:

“She gave you a black dog as a gift? Lady Magsner?”

There was no way a woman who was a ‘real angel’, as he knew well, would have given her a black dog that was said to be ominous.

“Caitlin was going to give me a golden puppy.”

“Then why?”

“It was so pretty that his fur color was the same as mine, so I chose this one.”

Ramiel’s face was amazing. ‘Just for that reason?’ he said with his expression.

“If it weren’t for me, he might have lived without affection. What’s wrong with the black one?”

Retrievers were a breed of dog famous for loving people and being smart. There’s no way a dog like that wouldn’t know the heartlessness of its owner.

How sad it must have been during that time. She needed to give him a lot of love in the future.

Ray hugged the puppy tightly.

“If Rael kicks him out because he’s evil, I’ll run away with him.”

It was a meaningless threat, but Ramiel responded kindly.

“I never thought he was sinister.”

Ray looked surprised at his unexpected words.

“Really? Really, Ramiel, you don’t believe the rumors?”

“Can anyone believe that the color of the fur determines whether someone is good or bad? Then how do you explain the white monster?”

She guessed this was something he realized through actual practice. It was fortunate that Ramiel did not believe in such superstitions.

“Master Ruivan gave permission, right? Now then, we have to name our new family member.”

“Phueng!! Phueng!”

The puppy sneezed again in Ray’s arms.

“Ahahaha. The sound of his sneezing earlier was really funny.”

The black pup gave her leash a full look at her over her red dress and then turned its eyes to the new person sitting across from him. He seemed determined to receive love from that person as well.

“Phueng! Woof woof!”

Ray held out the puppy in her arms as it wiggled its short legs trying to get to Ramiel.

“Would you like to hug him? It looks like he likes Ramiel.”

“I don’t like it.”

“Oh, yes.”

In response to the firm refusal, Ray quickly withdrew her outstretched arm. Yuju told her that just because something was pretty in her eyes, she shouldn’t force others to find it cute.

“Hey, you…”

“Phueng!”

The dog’s sneeze in her face was quite strong.

“Is there something stuck in his nostril? Why is he pouting so much?”

Ray lifted the puppy up to her eye level and examined his nose.

“There is nothing. Once we arrive at the mansion, he’ll have to get a medical examination first.”

“Phueng!”

“Whahahaha. This guy’s answer is to sneeze! Uh? Oh yeah! Your name is Pooh!”

The black puppy, which might have been called ‘Woong-meong’ if it had barked ‘Woong-meong’, was given the name ‘Pooh’.

“How was the party? This is the first meeting under Ruivan’s name.”

“I think it was a good thing I went out. I got some very important information.”

Looking at the jewel-like man across from her, Ray remembered an important fact.

“Hey, Ramiel. Are you sure Ruivan will pay for everything I use while I am Duchess?”

“Yes.”

“I just bought jewelry and a dress, but what?”

“What are you trying to say that you are asking again about what was written in the contract?”

Ramiel asked back, ‘You are sure I will do everything, so why are you asking this?’ Looking at the reaction, she felt a little reassured that they would just give her a few labels.

“Excuse me, Rael. Do you know Marin’s web?”

“The necklace?”

“That’s right. But do you know exactly what kind of necklace it is?”

Ray sighed softly.

“I only know the basics. It was 180 robes.”

“Phueng!”

Silence fell behind the sound of Pooh’s sneezing.

“Yes? I beg your pardon?”

‘I think he just said ‘Robe’ instead of ‘Label’. Maybe my ears are wrong.’

Even if it’s a label, it’s a big deal, but if it’s a robe, it’s absolutely ridiculous.

“In the imperial family, the crown prince tried to give it as a gift to his wife on her birthday, but he gave up after being dissuaded by the surrounding royal family, who thought 180 robes were too much.”

“180 robes? Isn’t it lavel?”

Looking at Ray with an expression of disbelief, he continued.

“They say they poured all kinds of good technology and jewels into it, so it seems like it’s worth the price.”

At Ramiel’s words, her eyes darkened. Pooh in her arms whined, as if he had sensed that his owner’s state of mind had become unstable, but Ray didn’t feel anything.

“E, e, ei, eigh, eighteen hundred…”

How many paves were 180 billion robes? Did this number make sense?

Ramiel looked puzzled at Ray, whose complexion suddenly turned white.

‘Is this really that surprising?’

She seemed quite surprised to even wipe her forehead to see if she was breaking out in a cold sweat.

Ray, who was pale and didn’t say a word, fell to her knees in front of Ramiel as they arrived at his mansion.

“Ra, Ramiel! I think I caused an accident!”

“What is this all of a sudden…”

Ramiel put his arm on his knee and was trying to pull away Ray, who had her head down, when he felt a strange sensation in his knee.

‘Is it wet?’

“Ugh. I do not know. What should I do?”

“Ray Alexis? Are you crying now?”

Madam Ruivan, with her head buried in Ramiel’s lap, was shedding tears endlessly.

* * *

The sight Wilpoff saw last night was the most impressive of his 32 years of life.

And in a strange way.

Wilpoff, who had gone out to meet the master and his wife, forgot the usual greeting asking if they had returned when he saw the woman sobbing in his master’s arms with a black dog in her arms and the master smiling with a shocked expression as he supported the woman.

He didn’t know what had happened until Ray stopped crying and went into the room sobbing and going to sleep.

“She’s a really fun woman.”

He was able to guess that Ray had an accident at the tea party based on the small words the master said to himself while laughing.

However…

“Marin’s Web… What do you mean?”

The master, who had been looking through Ruivan’s finances all night, named the most famous jewel in Lytham and ordered him to find out more about it. Including how to purchase it.

It was an ultimate gem that even people who did not know much about jewelry know. He wished he knew how to ‘purchase’ eye-poppingly expensive jewels that even the imperial family gave up on because of the prices.

If Ramiel was someone who was so crazy about his love that he would sacrifice anything for his loved one, this would be understandable, but no matter how much you think about it, this was nonsense.

“Sir, this may be presumptuous, but why do you want to purchase it?”

“My beloved wife wants it, that’s it.”

Unlike the affectionate lines, it was a voice that did not convey even the slightest hint of warmth or emotion.

“Are you serious?”

He knew this was an off-topic question, but he had to ask.

He know Ramiel wouldn’t mindlessly spend a lot of money, enough to buy a small village, but he only spent 180 robes on jewelry for Ray Alexis. She wasn’t supposed to be treated like that.

“If I leave it at that level, no one will be able to say anything to me.”

The idea was to avoid the annoyance after the divorce.

An amendment that would allow for more freedom in remarriage would soon come into effect. It was clear that their short marriage would not be a big drawback compared to the title given to her by the ‘official Duke Ruivan’, and Ramiel would once again become a high-end item in the courting market. He was trying to prevent it in advance with a huge amount of money.

When he said that after receiving his title he would put away all who would approach him in advance, it sounded to Wilpoff as if he were saying that he would never love anyone else or create a family of his own.

Ramiel said he really didn’t seem to care about anything other than his title. He even cared about Ruivan’s future.

Wilpoff became anxious. His current master seemed as if he did not consider Ruivan after himself.

“This place won’t collapse to this extent. You know better, right?”

He immediately read the slightest hint of Wilpoff’s anxiety.

“Get Taylor.”

“…yes.”
