The Duke and Duchess' Divorce Circumstances

CHAPTER 011: Ruivan's butler

The Ruivan mansion was filled with silent cries.

“I couldn’t believe it, but it was true?”

“How can you do that with that young lady?”

“I guess Wilpoff and Taylor knew. You’re so peaceful.”

However, this incident was only talked about among the servants, and the inside of the mansion was as peaceful as usual.

“…Ruivan is amazing.”

It took half a day just to be introduced to the managers of the Ruivan Mansion and to take a general tour of the mansion.

‘If I had known this would happen, I would have taken off my shoes and walked barefoot.’

When Ray was about to regret it, the butler advised her to take a break. As she was resting for a while in the living room, Ramiel, who had heard that Ray was there, came to visit her. It was a planned visit to show the two people getting along well. Ray was purely amazed as she sipped the tea skillfully brewed by the butler in the living room of the parlor.

“If someone like me were to become a hostess, there would be an uproar, but I’m not shaken at all. You may say something behind my back, but it looks like you take great care of your servants.”

The words were so sharp that Wilpoff almost lost his expression for a moment. Even if you think like that, you usually don’t say it out loud, right?

“Thank you for the compliment.”

Anyway, it was a compliment, so he expressed his gratitude. Ruivan’s butler was a young man with yellowish, dull, gray hair. At first, seeing the color of his hair from a distance, she thought he must be an old man, but when she looked closer, he was in his early thirties at most. Usually, in such large families, the head of the house would be a seasoned old gentleman who had guarded the family for generations. Compared to those around him, it was an unusual and unconventional greeting. When she was first introduced to the butler, Ray was very surprised to hear that Wilpoff was the head butler.

‘Well, Kreha is also a knight commander.’

It seemed that Ruivan was hiring based on people’s ability, regardless of their age. It was a good system.

“Please speak comfortably.”

Ray had been showing respect to those around her ever since she arrived at the Ruivan mansion. No matter how briefly she stayed and then disappeared, in the eyes of others, she came to Ruivan as their master’s companion to be married. In other words, it was said that she was in the same position as the master. Since she came with the same status as their master, they had to show respect even if it was just a pretense. He couldn’t let them hear that Ruivan had kicked out his prospective hostess without even treating her properly.

“I will.”

Ramiel, who was sitting across from Ray, opened his mouth in response.

“Ray.”

“Yes.”

“Wilpoff is thirty-two years old.”

“I told you that he looks somehow young. That’s amazing. I think he’s very capable.”

Wilpoff felt a little flattered by Ray’s gentle praise.

“He’s older than Ray.”

Ray stopped moving at Ramiel’s next words.

‘Ramiel, you bastard, no way…’

“I haven’t been given a title yet, so you’re not a duchess yet either.”

Wilpoff had no idea what Ramiel meant. He certainly said the right thing, but why did he suddenly bring up his age, and why was his title the next topic? Was it like a code that he didn’t know, or was the master asking her a meaningful riddle? Wilpoff feigned a calm expression on the outside and thought intensely about the meaning of Ramiel’s words. However, he seemed to have something with Ray, and she gritted her teeth so that it was clearly visible to her naked eyes.

‘Now the woman is openly frowning at her prospective husband, ‘Ramiel Ruivan’ in front of him and glaring at him as if she were going to kill him!’

What the master hated most was to do even the smallest thing that offended him. Rebel without a reason? If you did something like that in front of Ramiel, your head would be cut off. Either you lose your job or your life is truly at risk. But for some reason, Ramiel seemed happy.

‘What on earth is this?’

When Wilpoff was riding the rapid wave of confusion.

“Wilpoff.”

“Yes, master.”

“Now that you’ve rested a bit, please give Ray a tour of the mansion.”

“Yes, I understand…”

Wilpoff, who had been naturally responding to his master’s command, paused without realizing it, recalling what he had just heard.

‘What did I just hear? ‘Please do it’? ‘Please do it’!

It was Ramiel’s honor that he had never heard of before in his life. Were his ears crazy, or was the master’s mouth crazy?

‘Why on earth is Ramiel like this? Did I do something wrong?’

No. Ramiel was a person who would get angry mercilessly if something was wrong, and he would not express it in a roundabout way.

“…I’ll get up.”

Ray, who was gritting her teeth, shook off her previous expression and stood up from her seat. No matter how much she thought about it, there was nothing she could do about it.

‘Ah, don’t hit that guy’s drip.’

She never thought Ramiel would be such a person.

‘Well, since it was a 5-robe unit, there will be some back ends that weren’t there before.’

Compared to Ray’s easy resignation, the butler’s mind, unaware of the situation, was shaking as if there had been an earthquake.

“Wilpoff, please guide me well.”

At Ray’s request, Wilpoff hesitated for a moment before speaking.

“You two don’t ever have to speak highly of me.”

Ray saw the butler’s face turning white. As she spent half a day with the butler, she thought that as long as he was working as a butler, he would remain expressionless even if he was stabbed. He was a man who was a butler himself, to the extent that one would think that if a person were born with the job of ‘butler’, he would be Willpoff. Starting from his facial expression, he was truly a dignified and formal person from head to toe. He didn’t seem to be excited about anything. However, apart from her politeness, Ray felt like he was receiving overly formal kindness from him. Ray could clearly see that the butler, who had made her think she was a hospitality robot, was now losing her composure.

“There is nothing that cannot be elevated.”

At Ramiel’s answer, the butler’s complexion went from white to blue.

“Ramiel, it looks like the butler is going to collapse.”

Rei, who was worse off, secretly informed Ramiel of the butler’s embarrassment. Of course, there was no way he wouldn’t know, but she felt like she had to open up the butler’s breathing room at least like this. In fact, at that moment, an expression of ‘lived’ flashed across the butler’s face.

“It’s probably because I’m not used to it.”

Ray saw a smile on Ramiel’s face.

‘If it looks like he is smiling, am I mistaken?’

“The butler’s expression looks like something he doesn’t want to get used to.”

“It can’t be. Considering his age, he is a nobler person than me, who does not have an official title. He’ll get used to it.”

That’s right, he was smiling. He’s smiling so gently and gracefully like an angel to her! Ray made an expression of astonishment, and Ramiel smiled when he saw that and calmly drank his tea.

Wilpoff, who was watching the strange battle of nerves between the two, was shocked as if someone had hit him hard on the back of the head.

‘What am I looking at now?’

A woman who fighted with Ramiel Ruivan! He hadn’t heard or seen it. No, it was a composition she had never imagined before.

‘I understand she found a temporary solution because of her title, but what kind of picture is this?’

Come to think of it, the two people respected each other.

‘Was this also some kind of fight? It didn’t seem that way. No, this isn’t important. Please someone please save me!’

While the butler was searching for and calling out to all kinds of saviors in his heart, Ray approached Ramiel, who was sitting across from him, and whispered in his ear.

“Let’s not involve other people in our work.”

Ray looked at the butler’s face again.

“Your butler is dying.”

“It was Ray who made that happen.”

Ramiel was surprisingly happy with the current situation. She didn’t know if it’s the right expression because it’s been so long since she had felt joyful, but it was fun to see someone who wasn’t afraid or scared at all get embarrassed in a completely different area.

“…I really want to punch myself in the mouth of the past.”

“Puff!”

Wilpoff opened his mouth and could not close it as yet another unbelievable situation unfolded before his eyes.

‘Is Ramiel laughing out loud just now?’

Did the witch of Ravidon really do magic? Wilpoff’s hair was originally brown. However, his count turned white due to the constant stress he had been under since before the subjugation war. As Ramiel stabilized his family, he gradually began to turn yellow, and it was thought that his hair color would return soon. But now it felt like the color was fading even more white. After the atrocious parlor vandalism incident, it was the witch of Ravidon who saved the butler who had become haggard.

“Hmm, I guess that only applies to the two of us. There are unintentional victims.”

He didn’t know what ‘that thing’ was, but the situation came to an end when Ramiel gave her a small nod at the pitiful appearance of the butler, who could not even keep his mouth shut, and was clearly seeing this for the first time in her life. He never thought a witch would save him. This too was unexpected. Willpoff secretly wiped away his cold sweat and led her to Ray’s room, the marital bedroom, which was the last description of the mansion and her highlight.

“This is the room you will be using from now on.”

Perhaps because it was the room used by Ruivan’s hostess, the atmosphere was definitely different from the places she had been introduced to so far. Not to mention the size, the furniture and decorations that filled the space, and even the patterns on the window frames were different. It was no exaggeration to call it a castle, it was truly luxurious. A room that matches the atmosphere of the carriage she rode on when she came to Ruivan. Even though the room was decorated with flashy ornate statues and jewels here and there, She didn’t feel it was excessive or vulgar at all. It was a room with natural splendor. It was the exact opposite of the neat and monotonous bedroom of the Leanello family, but she also liked how extravagant it was.

Ray walked over to the bed that occupied the center of her room and lightly touched it with her hand. The large bed, which seemed to fit four people comfortably, was so soft that you could sink your hands into it.

“Is this really my room?”

Seeing her ask with her cheeks turning pink, it seemed like she was genuinely pleased. Like the sun shining on the sea, her sparkling eyes came to life. She was a pure and personable girl. He even felt like she didn’t seem rude or malicious, even though she had a bad reputation on the inside.

‘Has her true face not been revealed yet?’

He couldn’t let down his guard, but he was definitely caught off guard.

“Yes, of course.”

Wilpoff answered Ray’s muttering to herself.

‘Don’t be fooled by that seemingly innocent smile. Because we still don’t know for sure.’

“If you open this door you see here, it will connect to the master’s room.”

It was the so-called couple’s bedroom. A room where each person has their own space, but was structured so that each person could enter each other’s space at any time.

“If you open this door, it’s Master Ruivan’s room, right? Huh?”

The handle didn’t turn and got stuck with a clanking sound. Ray shook a few more times, but she didn’t budge the door.

“This won’t open?”

“It’s probably because the master locked it.”

“Lock it? Is this door locked?”

“Yes. It can be locked in the room where the master is.”

“Shouldn’t this be locked in the women’s room?”

Ray questioned the absurd structure. No matter how much the other person is the head and owner of a family whose life was precious, wasn’t this a special place called the couple’s bedroom? From the husband and wife perspective, it was the wife who should have the authority to lock the door.

“You’re not engaged yet, are you?”

‘Aha. So, I’m one of those criminals who could target the head of Ruivan?’

When she thought about this, she felt strangely bad. She was brought in by the owner he served, so she was treated like this. Wilpoff’s hospitality was polite. He treated her with courtesy and did not ignore or belittle her because she was from a low-income family. Even though she had the reputation of being a witch, he did not use that to give her a prejudiced reception from the beginning. However, from this fact, Ray was able to sense that Wilpoff respected her as a ‘guest’ who came to Ruivan, but did not trust her.

Still a year ahead at Ruivan. She had a feeling that Willpoff might be more difficult than Ramiel.
