The Dead Villainess Had A Child With The Male Lead

DVHMLC Chapter 4

Chapter 4 The Nightmare

He already complicated feelings were compounded.

His colleagues were envious, but Killion found Veronia’s unwillingness to jump into his arms unchallenged overwhelming.

He found it a little tiresome to watch her cling to him despite his protests.

‘Sir Killion, I’ve missed you, in fact, I miss you every day!’

‘If you’re engaged, I can hug you once?’

‘Why doesn’t Sir Killion hug me first? I feel a little sad because I don’t think Sir Killion wants me as much as I want him, and I’m getting restless because I want to hug him and kiss him.’

The thought of Veronia strolling in like this without a care in the world made his skin crawl.

Veronia was the only woman in the Empire with the noblest bloodline.

She was beautiful.

Even in the eyes of Killion, who knew nothing of aesthetic standards, she was beautiful.

Veronia was always kind and sweet to him.

She always responded with a smile, even when he, who had no idea what kindness was, reacted with a stony expression.

He used to resent himself for not warming up to her after seeing her for so long.

But…

‘You’re not ready for this at all. Besides, she hadn’t gotten over the horrible memories.’

Anyway, they got engaged. One day they would get married.

Now that they were both adults, maybe the wedding would happen fairly soon.

Of course, he wasn’t expecting a romance that wasn’t worthy of his status.

But he did want to find someone who was at least as comfortable with him as he was with his life partner.

‘Will the affection that hasn’t existed in the past 10 years suddenly arise when I get married?’

That can’t be possible. Killion shook his head.

Hufff, her deep, long sigh came out.

***

‘What the… is this?’

She opened her eyes and found herself in front of a guillotine.

Veronia’s body shuddered like a shivering aspen tree.

The blade dangled precariously, as if it could fall at any moment.

Veronia turned her head and looked out at the square.

Despite the dark, rainy weather, many people filled the square.

Their faces were angry, their voices loud and boisterous.

Veronia could hear their anger clearly in her ears.

“How could you do such a thing with such a fair face, you devils!”

“Are you saying all those smiles and good deeds were an act, you little shit?”

A sharp gaze and an even sharper voice raked over Veronia’s body.

“Are you jealous because you have everything but can’t have divine power? Ugh… It gives me goosebumps!”

“How dare you try to kill a saint! Aren’t you afraid of the sky? aren’t you afraid of the goddess? and if not that, are you insane?”

“Cut off your head and go to hell, where you’ll be a princess of demons, that would suit you better!”

The constant barrage of accusations and mockery choked Veronia’s breath.

She wanted to cover her ears, but her hands were bound by ropes.

‘It’s not me! That’s not me! ‘That’s not me!’

She wanted to scream.

She had to make this whole situation right.

But she couldn’t say anything because her mouth was gagged.

No matter how hard she tried, the only sound she could get out of her mouth was “Oooh… Hmm! Ah… Ugh!” All I could say was something like “Ugh.”

‘No! I can’t die like this! Why should I be punished for something I didn’t do? Why should I die? Remove the gag! I have something to say! I can explain everything!’

Veronia struggled with the last of her strength.

But all she got back was the punches and kicks of her guards.

Puck! Puck! Puck!

“Is this crazy? What’s going on?”

“Can’t you stay still?”

“If you want to die a good death, you’d better stay still!”

Veronia’s body slumped to the floor as she took the brunt of the blow. Her breath caught in her throat, but she couldn’t even moan.

Tears streamed down her cheeks.

‘I am not Veronia! I am not the one who should die! Kill the Emperor! Kill the Empress! Kill the Crown Prince!’

The small sobs turned into wails.

“Look at those disgusting tears!”

“I don’t think those are tears of remorse, they look like tears of injustice.”

“Crazy, what’s wrong with you? You still haven’t come to your senses! Just behead her!”

“Kill the villainess!”

Through her tear-stained vision, she could see angry faces.

Faces that wished for her death.

‘I don’t want to do this anymore, I just want to die.’

Veronia gave up.

She wished she could just die. She was too tired and weak to endure this horrible situation.

The jailer lifted her sprawled body to her feet and led her to the guillotine.

“Waaaah! You’re going to die at last!”

“Hit the neck! Hit her right there!”

“Kill the villainess!”

With the guards’ urging, Veronia knelt before the guillotine and placed her head under the blade.

She closed her eyes tightly as she waited for her death to come.

***

“… It wasn’t me! It wasn’t me! It wasn’t me! … It wasn’t me! Argh!”

Then Veronia’s eyes fluttered open.

The red pupils trembled uneasily. Ha, ha, ha, letting out a ragged breath, Veronia sat up and looked around.

It was her bedroom.

‘It’s a dream.’

She inhaled deeply, unconsciously clearing her throat.

Then, like a bursting dike, the tears came, all at once.

“Ughh…”

Maybe it was the relief of still being alive.

Or maybe it was the fear that if she did anything wrong, she would be decapitated by the guillotine, just like the original.

Once the tears started, they showed no sign of stopping.

In fact, they got stronger and stronger.

“Huh… I want to live! I don’t want to die again! ah… The possession of this guy is really fucking crazy! Why Veronia? Hmm…”

Just then, the door to the side room connected to the bedroom opened.

The maid, startled by Veronia’s loud wailing, ran out panting.

“Your Majesty! Are you all right? Are you sick? Are you all…?”

“Hm…… hmph!”

Veronia hugged the maid, who was looking at me with worried eyes.

The maid was even more puzzled.

“Your Majesty, shall we go and fetch the councillors?”

“Huh… No, it’s just a nightmare. Just stay with me like this for a while. I think I’ll be fine then.”

“Oh, you had a nightmare.”

The handmaiden’s loving hand stroked down Veronia’s back.

She had never been so grateful for another’s warmth.

***

The weather was glorious, as it should be for a day of victory, a day for knights blessed by the goddesses.

The streets of Central, the heart of the capital, began to fill with people.

Their faces shone with anticipation.

This was a day to celebrate the victory of the Knights of the Union, a day to honour their victory and celebrate their homecoming, a day to celebrate the complete calming of the borderlands.

But there was another spectacle they were waiting for.

The sight of Veronia and Killion side by side!

The engagement ceremony of the two people who became engaged 10 years ago when they were children, the princess who received the affection of the entire nation and the son of a historic duke, heated up the entire empire.

But they were rarely seen together.

“So they’re meeting today for the first time in two years, how exciting, how good it will be!”

“I was so excited that I couldn’t sleep at all last night! What should I do? Even now, my heart is pounding!”

“Oh, me too! I feel like we’re giving our daughter and son away in marriage!”

“It’s true!”

Haha, hoho laughter continued here and there.

It was then.

The Knights, with Killion in the lead, entered Central Street.

“Wow!”

“Long live the United Knights!”

“Long live Count Killion!”

“hurray! Long live!”

Cheers erupted from the people gathered on the street.

People waved two flags eagerly.

It was a flag depicting the sun, a symbol of the imperial family, and a flag depicting the World Tree, a symbol of the United Knights.

The fluttering flag sparkled in the sunlight.

Killion thought that it looked like waves swaying in the wind.

The knights’ eyes were moist and their mouths were wide open, as if they were touched by the huge crowd’s hospitality.

There were people who showed symptoms similar to those of the impressed knights, including the women who had seen Killion up close.

“Oh my! Look at Count Killion Drea! Can a person’s face look like that? Isn’t it a human being and a god?”

“How can his face be so small? How can his eyes be so sharp? I think he is not of this world!”

“You’re really handsome! You are beautiful!”

“Well, if you’re going to be our Princess’s partner, you have to have that level of beauty!”

“Whatever! Of course!”

Finally, Killion and his fellow commanders, who were in the lead, arrived at the golden square in front of the main gate of the imperial palace.

Just in time, the main gate of the imperial palace opened and two open-air carriages rushed out.

The Emperor and Empress were riding in the lead carriage, and Veronia was in the second.

Veronia was nervous.

That was because, unlike the Veronia of the past, the current Veronia had never stood in front of so many people.

‘no. ‘It was in my dream.’

Naturally, the dream she had last night came to mind.

The scene where all the people gathered in the square were desperately praying for their own death shimmered before her eyes and gave her goosebumps all over her body.

Veronia closed her eyes tightly and shook her head vigorously.

Hoping the horrible nightmare would fall out of her brain.

That was when she took a slow, deep breath and gathered herself together.

Among the many people looking this way, one person was shining particularly brightly.

‘Is that Killion?’

Even from a distance, it was obvious.

Because the bright midday sun seemed to shine brightly only around him.

‘He’s handsome. He must be the main character. His aura is… wow!’

Humans are naturally inclined to covet and envy beauty.

Veronia was no different.

Her lips, which had been tightly closed due to tension, parted slightly.

The tension and fear melted away like snow, thanks to Killion’s mesmerizing beauty.

‘I know it’s not meant to be, but it’s still nice to be able to appreciate it, right?’

While Veronia was admiring Killion’s appearance, the carriage stopped in front of the central fountain.

Killion opened the carriage door and extended his hand to Veronia.

It was his way of honouring his fiancée.

‘You’re so… close, I have to hold your hand?’

Veronia stared at Killion’s hand held out in front of her.

The tension rushed through her again.

Woah! I’m really enjoying the template/theme of this site.
It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s challenging to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appearance.
I must say that you’ve done a great job with this. Additionally, the blog loads very quick for me on Internet explorer.
    Superb Blog!

What a material of un-ambiguity and preserveness of precious familiarity on the topic of unpredicted emotions.
