The Boss is Reborn with his Little Fairy

“Why did Li Yaobai’s group come here? Let’s leave quickly.”

After she finished preparing duck wings for a few young girls, Wen Ke’an noticed that they were leaving in a state of fear.

Following the direction they had looked, Wen Ke’an noticed several boys not far away. These boys seemed young, around seventeen or eighteen years old, and some of them were holding bats, clearly not looking like well-behaved students.

“Who are they?” someone beside Wen Ke’an curiously whispered.

“They are students from the vocational high school in the city. They often get into fights and cause trouble. It’s better not to provoke them. Let’s go quickly.”

Wen Ke’an’s gaze focused on the boy in the black vest at the front. He had short brown hair, but some of his bangs were slightly long, partially covering his eyes.

Looking at his slightly upturned phoenix eyes, Wen Ke’an felt like she had seen him somewhere before.

The group of boys had a clear target, and they quickly approached Wen Ke’an’s food stall.

Initially, there were still some customers queuing in front of Wen Ke’an’s stall, but upon seeing these troublemakers approaching, everyone didn’t want to get involved and left the area.

Wen Ke’an stood quietly in front of her stall without saying a word.

Perhaps the boys didn’t expect to encounter a pretty girl selling things there, and they were hesitant to speak out, creating an awkward atmosphere.

Wen Qiangguo noticed that something was off. He limped over, standing in front of Wen Ke’an to shield her, and then smiled, saying, “Are you here to buy braised duck, young man? Our family’s braised duck is delicious.”

Li Yaobai remained silent, and his lackeys behind him didn’t dare to make any moves. After a brief moment of silence, his sinister gaze shifted away from Wen Ke’an’s face. In the next second, the bowl of braised duck in front of Wen Qiangguo was overturned by him.

But the bowl had already been sold and there was only a small amount of soup left.

With a loud clatter, the bowl fell to the ground, and a few drops of the soup splashed onto Wen Ke’an’s skirt.

The loud noise immediately drew the attention of many people. However, no one dared to intervene, and most of them were whispering quietly.

“So, it’s that kid. I heard he went to a school in the city center. It’s been a long time since I last saw him.”

“How come all of you know him?”

“I used to see him frequently when we were kids. He’s the son of our landlord.”

Wen Ke’an wasn’t afraid and she calmly looked at them. When the young boy overturned the bowl earlier, he intentionally tilted it in another direction, to avoid spilling the soup in front of her. Therefore, she deduced that their intention in coming over this time wasn’t to start a fight or cause trouble.

The boy at the forefront furrowed his eyebrows, looking impatient. His voice was sharp and he spoke word by word, saying, “Don’t set up your stall here anymore. Consider this a warning. If I see you here again…”

Before he could finish his warning, a voice from nearby interrupted, “You little rascal!”

The voice sounded somewhat familiar, and Wen Ke’an subconsciously turned to look. It turned out to be the old grandmother who sells flower bracelets.

Upon seeing his grandmother approaching, Li Yaobai’s expression briefly stiffened. His good friend beside him patted his shoulder and whispered, “What’s going on, Yao-ge? Isn’t that your grandmother?”

“You come here right now!” The grandmother scolded Li Yaobai fiercely with great determination.

Li Yaobai took two deep breaths and reluctantly walked over to the grandmother, keeping his head obediently lowered. “Grandmother.”

The elderly woman, strong and robust, delivered two sharp slaps to Li Yaobai’s chest and said angrily, “Consider this my warning too. If I ever catch you causing trouble here again, I’ll make sure to beat you, you little rascal!”

“…”

“Understood,” Li Yaobai replied meekly.

The grandmother directly twisted Li Yaobai’s ear and brought him over to apologize.

The rebellious delinquent, Li Yaobai, obeyed his grandmother’s instructions to apologize, although it sounds insincere.

While the grandmother chatted with Wen Qiangguo, Wen Ke’an raised her eyes to glance at the young man. Bathed in the dim light, he leaned against a pillar, his head down, and his foot playing with an empty bottle on the ground. He exuded a sense of exuberance and familiarity.

Wen Ke’an felt a moment of trance.

Caught in the act, Li Yaobai’s mood now was very unpleasant, and he was becoming increasingly irritable. However, with his grandmother present, he couldn’t do much and could only bear with it.

The night market bustled with people coming and going, creating a noisy atmosphere. Li Yaobai couldn’t bear it any longer, so he reached into his pocket and touched his cigarette box. After hesitating for a moment, he ultimately decided not to take it out.

Li Yaobai still kept his head down, but suddenly, within his field of vision, a delicate, white hand appeared, holding a small bag of braised duck. He paused for a moment and then slightly lifted his head.

The beautiful girl from the food stall stood before him, donning a gentle, floral, and fluffy skirt. Despite her slightly plump figure, she had a slender neck which made her radiate a graceful aura.

Wen Ke’an stood before Li Yaobai, and quietly waited for him to notice her. When she saw him look up, she lowered her eyes slightly and said softly, “These are the ones I packed earlier. If you don’t mind, you can have them.”

“…”

Li Yaobai stared blankly at the bag of braised duck she held in her hand. He didn’t know what got into him, but he unconsciously accepted the bag.

“Wow, Yao-ge, looks like that pretty girl has taken a liking to you. She even gave you something.” Li Yaobai’s friends who were with him earlier didn’t leave yet. After Wen Ke’an walked away, they gathered around him, teasing playfully.

“Get lost,” Li Yaobai cursed, but he still glanced at the bag of braised duck in his hand. It seemed like something triggered a change in his emotions, and he suddenly felt upset. He threw the bag away and said coldly, “I don’t want it.”

His friends were quick to react and caught the bag of braised meat. “What a waste! If you don’t want it, I’ll take it, Yao-ge!”

That night, Wen Ke’an returned home but unexpectedly struggled to fall asleep. She seemed to have figured out why the young man felt familiar. Perhaps it was because his demeanor resembled Gu Ting. When Gu Ting was seventeen, he must have been just as spirited and charismatic as that teen.

Back when they first met, Gu Ting had just been recently released from prison, covered in dirt, and filled with hostility. No one dared to approach him, except for her – the first person who wasn’t afraid and wanted to help him.

As Wen Ke’an thought back, she realized that it might not have been fear that drove her to help Gu Ting back then. At that time, she had already lost all hope in life, to the point where she was not afraid of death, so how could she fear another person?

Thinking about the past, Wen Ke’an’s heart was filled with both bitterness and sweetness. She suddenly longed to see Gu Ting from their younger days. But when would she be able to find him?

While Wen Ke’an couldn’t sleep on her end, Li Yaobai was also sleepless. His grandmother had already dozed off, and he went to the balcony to light a cigarette.

The flickering light on the balcony only exacerbated Li Yaobai’s frustration. He opened his phone and dialed a number.

“Hey, Yao-ge, what’s up? It’s already late, I’m about to sleep.”

Li Yaobai remained silent for a moment and then spoke, “Where’s my duck wings?”

“…”

The other side sounded exasperated, “Big brother, what time is it now? Do you think your duck wings could still be alive???”

“Did you all eat them? Not even a single piece left?”

“No, we didn’t. We ran into Brother Ting on the way back, and weren’t able to eat any of the braised duck. We gave it all to Brother Ting.”

“…”
