The Boss is Reborn with his Little Fairy

In the distance, the sky was faintly dotted with a few shimmering stars.

After dinner, Wen Ke’an sat in the small courtyard of their ground-floor house. It had its own little yard.

It was summer now, and most of the flowers in the yard were already in bloom. The evening breeze carries a hint of floral fragrance throughout the entire courtyard.

Wen Ke’an sat on the swing at the entrance, and Da Ju (Big Orange), their cat, snuggled up next to her, its fluffy body leaning against her ankles.

Inside the house, her parents were watching TV, and laughter could be heard occasionally.

Wen Ke’an touched Da Ju’s fluffy back, suddenly feeling that all of this seemed somewhat unreal.

Not long ago, she had been in a car accident, and her body still felt uncomfortable. Since the accident, she hadn’t been to school for over a month.

Wen Ke’an remembered clearly that in her previous life, due to her emotional issues, she didn’t attend school or participate in the school’s placement exams. Although her academic performance was good enough to be placed in a better class, she didn’t take the placement exams seriously, and as a result, she was put in a lower-ranked class. Later, she was influenced by the class environment, her grades dropped significantly, and she didn’t get into a good university in the college entrance exams.

Not being able to attend her dream university had always been her regret.

“An-An, come have some fruits,” a voice called out.

Wen Ke’an turned her head to see her father limping over, holding a plate of freshly cut fruits.

She took the fruits and looked at her father’s ankle, asking softly, “Dad, is your leg still hurting?”

Her father smiled kindly and said, “It’s much better now, not hurting anymore.”

Wen Ke’an looked at her father, who appeared much older than she remembered. A few strands of white hair appeared on his head, and his body was not as strong as before.

In her previous life, she had always shut herself in her own little world and didn’t take good care of her parents. It wasn’t until they both left her that she gradually realized her mistakes.

The temperature outside was a bit cold, and Liu Qing was worried that Wen Ke’an might catch a cold. After Wen Ke’an finished eating the fruits, Liu Qing called her back into the house.

When Wen Ke’an was preparing to go to her room to sleep, she unexpectedly noticed her mother’s hands. Her mother had been doing laborious work to earn money in recent days, and her hands were covered in blisters.

“Mom, your hands…” Wen Ke’an’s eyes welled up with emotions as she looked at her mother.

Her mother’s face had more wrinkles now, and she looked much more haggard.

“It’s nothing, dear. What could happen to me?” Liu Qing quickly hid her hands behind her back and smiled, “Go take a shower and go to bed, okay? Don’t stay up late, you know?”

Wen Ke’an knew her mother had a strong personality, and even if she suffered a lot outside, she wouldn’t complain to her child.

“I understand, Mom. You should rest early too.”

After coming out of the shower, Wen Ke’an returned to her room. While drying her hair, she looked out the window. From her angle, she could see a small flickering light outside. Her father was smoking at the door, and there were already many cigarette butts at his feet.

Wen Ke’an also knew that her father wasn’t as optimistic as he appeared on the surface. Their family’s financial situation wasn’t good, and they had accumulated a lot of debt to cover both her father’s and her medical expenses. They were probably silently bearing all the pressure themselves so as not to burden her or make her feel uncomfortable.

Wen Ke’an couldn’t sleep at night; she kept thinking of various ways to make money.

In her previous life, she had no interest in things like lottery tickets and had no idea which ones had a chance of winning big prizes. And now, with her body still not fully recovered, she couldn’t work as a part-time dance teacher. She had considered many options, but she kept rejecting them one by one.

Finally, Wen Ke’an came up with a practical idea. She could write articles on websites. Online literature had developed rapidly in recent years, making it the best time to sell copyrights. In her previous life, she enjoyed writing fanfiction and posting it on websites, gaining some lovely little readers.

However, writing stories now could no longer be just for fun. The ideas in Wen Ke’an’s mind became clearer and clearer. She picked up her phone, opened a document and started outlining her ideas.

Wen Ke’an had thought for so long last night that she couldn’t remember when she had fallen asleep.

When she woke up in the morning, it was just getting bright outside. She got up and prepared to go for a run.

Her body was quite overweight now, and she needed to find a way to slim down quickly.

Wen Ke’an set two small goals for herself: to lose weight as soon as possible and to prepare well for her sophomore year exams.

She ran for an hour and returned home to find that her mother had already prepared breakfast for her. On the dining table, she found a little note written by her mother.

[Eat well, your father and I have something to do and will be back by noon.]

Wen Ke’an could probably guess that they went to some relative’s house to borrow money.

After finishing her meal, Wen Ke’an returned to her room. She first turned on her computer and registered her author account on the novel website. The account would require some time for approval. Once done, she sat at her desk and took out her freshman year textbooks to start reviewing. Her foundation was quite solid, and the knowledge from her freshman year wasn’t too challenging for her.

When Wen Qiangguo and Liu Qing returned home, they found Wen Ke’an diligently practicing her English listening skills. Wen Qiangguo walked up to Wen Ke’an’s door and sneakily peeked inside. Seeing Wen Ke’an studying, he couldn’t believe his eyes. He smiled at Liu Qing and whispered, “Our girl is actually studying.”

“Mom, Dad, you’re back,” Wen Ke’an took off her headphones and looked towards the doorway.

Seeing that their daughter had noticed them, Wen Qiangguo directly opened the door and entered Wen Ke’an’s room.

As he saw Wen Ke’an smiling and greeting him, Wen Qiangguo’s eyes became slightly moist. Since his daughter got injured, she had been in a gloomy state. He hadn’t even seen her smile, let alone study.

Liu Qing also came over after putting down the things in her hands. Seeing Wen Ke’an studying, she smiled and asked, “Are you preparing for your sophomore year exam?”

“Yes, the exams are coming up, so I’m reviewing,” Wen Ke’an replied.

After thinking for a moment, Wen Ke’an decided to share her thoughts while her parents were present.

“Dad, I don’t want to go to school for the next few days. I want to study on my own.”

Since Wen Ke’an’s body was not yet fully recovered, Wen Qiangguo had no intention of sending her back to school. He nodded and said, “That’s fine, you can review at home.”

“In the second year of high school, Shi Yi Middle School will also have open enrollment. Dad, I want to try for that school.”

Shi Yi Middle School was the best high school in the entire Z city, and during the second year of high school, they would accept students from other schools. However, the academic requirements were extremely strict, and the number of spots available was very limited.

“Sure, my daughter will make it!” Wen Qiangguo said with determination.

Seeing their daughter full of determination to study, Wen Qiangguo was genuinely delighted.

To celebrate Wen Ke’an’s fresh start in her studies, Wen Qiangguo prepared some of his signature braised dishes in the backyard in the afternoon. He was planning to use duck heads and duck wings. But before he could finish, their neighbor from upstairs opened their balcony window and looked down while shouting.

“Wen Lao-ge, what are you cooking? It smells so delicious!”
