The Boss is Reborn with his Little Fairy

Chapter 24: I Want to Hug You

After Wen Ke’an took a turn and returned to the clothing store, her parents had already almost finished selecting clothes. Wen Ke’an lowered her gaze and glanced quietly at the clothes neatly packed at Liu Qing’s feet. After a moment of silence, Wen Ke’an finally looked up at Wen Qiangguo and said, “Dad, I know Mom is very beautiful.”

Wen Qiangguo looked down at Wen Ke’an, “What?”

Wen Ke’an directly pointed her finger at the pile of neatly packed clothes on the chair, “But there’s no need to buy so many, right?”

After hearing Wen Ke’an’s words, Liu Qing smiled and said, “Not all of these clothes are for me, some are for your grandma and your aunt.”

Wen Ke’an glanced and noticed there were also some men’s clothes.

“Did you buy clothes for my uncle too?” Wen Ke’an asked softly.

“Yes,” Liu Qing smiled and explained, “It’s been a long time since I went back. I also bought clothes for your cousins.”

Wen Ke’an didn’t speak again. But Wen Qiangguo noticed that Wen Ke’an’s mood was a bit off, thinking that she might be jealous like a child. He quietly walked over to Liu Qing and asked her to pick another piece of clothing for Wen Ke’an.

After entering November, the temperature suddenly dropped sharply. The once green leaves turned yellow in just a few days.

Wen Ke’an and Jin Ming were on class duty together. Jin Ming rubbed her hands and said, “What kind of weather is this? It gets so cold all of a sudden.” A few days ago, wearing just a hoodie was warm enough, but now it was time to start wearing winter coats. Due to the rapidly changing temperature, many students couldn’t withstand the cold and caught colds. While Wen Ke’an was relatively healthy, she still had a slight cold and cough.

“Yeah, you really should wear more clothes, or you’ll catch a cold for sure,” Wen Ke’an spoke with a lighter tone than before.

“Have you learned your lesson? It’s so cold, and you actually agreed to go to that evening party with the arts committee,” Jin Ming glanced at Wen Ke’an. She probably wasn’t feeling well, as she was wearing a thick white down jacket that made her look like a snowman.

“That party is useless, the only purpose is to boost the comprehensive evaluation score for our class. Wearing such thin clothes and dancing in this cold weather, if you don’t catch a cold, who will?”

Knowing that Jin Ming was concerned about her, Wen Ke’an didn’t dare to speak and listened quietly with her head down.

This was already the second time she had been scolded. Last night, after her performance, she saw Gu Ting backstage. Seeing her in the dress for the performance, Gu Ting immediately frowned. She had promised him before going on stage that she would dress warmly. However, since her performance involved dancing, wearing too much clothing wouldn’t look good and easy to dance with. She thought that Gu Ting wouldn’t be able to attend and see her, Wen Ke’an decided to secretly change out of her warm clothes.

Little did she expect that right after coming off the stage, she would see him backstage.

So, she experienced another round of scolding and this time, from Jin Ming. Jin Ming spoke for a while, and Wen Ke’an didn’t argue. She nodded occasionally, behaving like a well-behaved kitten with her head down. After saying a few things, Jin Ming felt awkward continuing. She cleared her throat and looked at Wen Ke’an, saying, “There are some medicines in my desk drawer. Remember to take them when you go back.”

Wen Ke’an responded softly, “Okay.”

Knowing that Wen Ke’an wasn’t feeling well and lacked energy, after Jin Ming finished her own duties, she helped Wen Ke’an a lot. After finishing their duties, the two of them cleaned up the trash and headed back to the classroom.

On the way, Jin Ming suddenly remembered something and looked at Wen Ke’an, asking in a low voice, “By the way, who was the guy who appeared backstage the night before yesterday to give you clothes to wear?”

Wen Ke’an didn’t respond.

Actually, Gu Ting didn’t scold her much last night either. Seeing her dressed thinly, he just took off his own black cotton jacket and wrapped it around her.

At that time, they were in a secluded corner, not expecting to accidentally become the background in someone else’s photos.

The student who took the photo initially didn’t realize and happily posted it on social media. However, another student in the same forum noticed the small corner. There, a guy was bending over, carefully helping the girl beside him zip up her dress.

Although it was a prestigious school, there were still many students in romantic relationships. Everyone thought the actions of the guy in the corner were very sweet.

Fortunately, the event wasn’t large-scale, the photo was blurry, and it didn’t capture their faces.

But as her desk mate, Jin Ming instantly recognized that the girl in the corner was Wen Ke’an. After carefully reviewing the photo, Jin Ming curiously said, “The guy is bending over, but he seems tall. Who is he? Have I met him?”

“You’ve met him,” Wen Ke’an replied in a hushed tone.

“I’ve met him?” Jin Ming was momentarily stunned, then incredulously asked in a whisper, “Could it be Gu Ting?”

Wen Ke’an remained silent for a moment before slowly confirming, “Yeah.”

Upon hearing Wen Ke’an’s response, Jin Ming almost threw what she was holding. “Oh my, is it for real? There have been rumors in school these days that you offended Gu Ting!”

Wen Ke’an silently thought in her heart.

Indeed, she had offended him.

Because she didn’t listen and didn’t dress properly.

Wen Ke’an had made plans with Chu Han to hang out after school. Chu Han seemed to be in a bad mood these days, looking as if there was something bothering her so much.

They went to a nearby small park, and Wen Ke’an bought a cup of milk tea for Chu Han. Sitting on the park swing, Wen Ke’an glanced at Chu Han and softly asked, “What’s wrong? You don’t seem to be in a good mood.”

Chu Han was a laid-back girl, and her emotions were usually written all over her face. After taking a sip of the milk tea, she said, “It’s nothing major, just that my parents got divorced.”

Wen Ke’an vividly remembered that in her previous life, Chu Han’s parents also divorced around this time. However, she was so busy with her own affairs that there wasn’t much she could do to help her best friend. Chu Han’s mother, a beautiful woman, remarried a wealthy man shortly after the divorce, and Chu Han moved with her mother to a new home.

During that time, something had happened to Chu Han, and she suddenly became rebellious. She even fell for a troublemaker, started neglecting her studies, and engaged in smoking, drinking, and hanging out in bars. When Wen Ke’an saw Chu Han again later, she had completely transformed, and also suffered from depression.

Thinking back to those days, Wen Ke’an felt a deep sense of sympathy for Chu Han.

Before Wen Ke’an could say anything, Chu Han sighed and continued, “But after the divorce, it’s not too bad. They were arguing with each other every day recently, and I was getting fed up with it.”

“Perhaps for them, getting divorced is a kind of relief,” Wen Ke’an could only offer this consolation since the situation was already settled.

Fortunately, Chu Han was still the cheerful girl she used to be. She smiled and said, “Well, I’m about to enter college soon. Once I go to a university in another city, I won’t have to get involved in their affairs anymore.”

“Chu-Chu, we’ll always be good friends,” Wen Ke’an glanced at Chu Han and said sincerely, “If you’re not happy at home in the future, you can come stay at my place. I’ll share half of my bed with you.”

Touched by Wen Ke’an’s words, Chu Han looked at her gratefully and said, “An-An, you’re really kind.”

After expressing their inner thoughts, Chu Han gradually felt better, and her mood improved a lot. As it was the change of seasons, Wen Ke’an planned to take Chu Han to the mall to buy some new clothes.

“An-An, look at that car, it’s so luxurious.” Even before reaching the mall, Chu Han noticed a luxurious private car parked by the roadside.

“Why didn’t they put it in the parking lot? Why park it on the main road?” Chu Han expressed her confusion.

As soon as Chu Han uttered her puzzled words, the car’s headlights lit up.

Wen Ke’an and Chu Han raised their heads and saw two guys approaching from not far away. One of them had a cold temperament, wearing a black high-end suit. His eyes were light, and his facial features deep and mysterious, giving the impression of being mixed-race. The other was someone Wen Ke’an recognized as Gu Ting’s good friend, Xie Hongyi.

Seeing them, Chu Han instinctively took a step back, furrowing her brows slightly. She whispered, “Why is it him?”

“Who?” Wen Ke’an asked in a low voice.

“Xie Huaiyan,” Chu Han replied.

Upon hearing the name from Chu Han’s mouth, Wen Ke’an also froze in place.

Wen Ke’an remembered the name Xie Huaiyan.

Xie Huaiyan had some interactions with Gu Ting, and in their previous life, he even helped them. However, what left the deepest impression on Wen Ke’an was that Xie Huaiyan married Chu Han. Or rather, Xie Huaiyan married the deceased Chu Han.

Wen Ke’an wasn’t able to attend Chu Han’s funeral. At that time, she was unwell and was undergoing her first surgery. Later, when she was in better health, she brought flowers to visit Chu Han’s grave. To her surprise, the tombstone indicated that Chu Han was the wife of Xie Huaiyan.

Before that, Wen Ke’an had never heard the name Xie Huaiyan from Chu Han. She couldn’t understand why Xie Huaiyan would marry someone who had already passed away.

Initially, she thought there must be some conspiracy behind this. However, Xie Huaiyan’s family was wealthy, and he was the CEO of a conglomerate. Chu Han was just an ordinary girl, and Wen Ke’an couldn’t comprehend what Xie Huaiyan was after.

It wasn’t until later that she heard Xie Huaiyan personally ruined Chu Han’s ex-boyfriend’s company and orchestrated Chu Han on becoming the scapegoat, landing her in prison. And yet he also personally punished those who harmed Chu Han, before he disappeared. No one knew where he went—rumors said he went abroad, and there were even rumors that he had died.

Wen Ke’an glanced at Xie Huaiyan not far away, then looked at Chu Han and whispered, “Do you want to go say hello?”

Chu Han felt a bit scared and subconsciously shook her head. “No, let’s just leave quickly.”

Xie Hongyi noticed the two girls not far away, squinted his eyes, and whispered, “Isn’t that our little sister-in-law?”

Xie Hongyi was about to turn around and get into the car when he noticed that Xie Huaiyan beside him remained motionless. Xie Huaiyan’s gaze fell on the two girls not far ahead.

Xie Hongyi was puzzled for a moment. Then, he looked at Wen Ke’an and glanced back at Xie Huaiyan. As if understanding something, he twitched his mouth and softly called out to Xie Huaiyan, “Ge?”

Xie Huaiyan withdrew his gaze.

“Do you know them?” Xie Hongyi curiously whispered.

Xie Huaiyan lowered his gaze, seemingly ignoring Xie Hongyi’s question, and got into the car.

After spending the evening out, Wen Ke’an returned home and was about to take a shower when she received a video call from Gu Ting.

Her parents hadn’t returned yet, and after a moment of contemplation, Wen Ke’an answered the video call.

“What are you doing?” Gu Ting asked softly, looking at her face through the video call.

“Getting ready to take a shower,” Wen Ke’an replied, her voice sounding a bit stuffy.

Gu Ting furrowed his brows slightly. “Did you take your medicine?”

“I did.”

Since she needed to change clothes, Wen Ke’an placed her phone to the side. After a while, she heard Gu Ting’s voice through the phone, “Why don’t you let me see you?”

Wen Ke’an said slowly, “I’m changing clothes.”

There was a brief silence, and then Wen Ke’an heard him sigh sadly, saying, “Is our relationship really so distant?”

Wen Ke’an understood what he meant. She remained silent for a moment before responding, “Don’t act like a rogue.”

“…”

“I’ll hang up if there’s nothing else. I need to go take a shower,” Wen Ke’an said softly.

“There is something,” Gu Ting’s expression suddenly became serious.

“What is it?”

“I want to hug you.”

“…”

It was getting late, and after taking a shower, Wen Ke’an initially thought of making another video call to Gu Ting. However, she was too tired, and as she lay on the bed, she fell asleep in a daze.

In the middle of the night, Wen Ke’an was abruptly awakened by a tapping sound on the window. She got up from the bed barefoot, intending to see what was happening outside.

Unexpectedly, as she opened the curtain, she found herself locking eyes with a familiar pair.

“…”

Wen Ke’an was stunned for a moment, silent. She gently opened the window without saying a word.

A cold breeze rushed in as Wen Ke’an looked at Gu Ting crouching outside the window. She tilted her head, slightly confused, and asked, “How did you get here?”

Seeing Wen Ke’an’s expression, Gu Ting knew that she was still half-asleep and not fully awake. Worried that she might catch a cold, he jumped in through the window and closed it.

“Come here and let me hold you,” Gu Ting said before Wen Ke’an could respond. He saw the girl in her pajamas approaching, swaying slightly, before leaning against him like a little cat.

Gu Ting’s body stiffened for a moment, but he went on and completed what he wanted to say, to hug her.
