The Boss is Reborn with his Little Fairy

Chapter 21: Recognition

A car collision occurred, and police officers responded quickly to handle the situation.

Wen Ke’an lost control when she heard the sirens of the police cars. She could only rely on the person beside her instinctively.

“It’s okay, I’m here,” Gu Ting said quietly by her side.

Wen Ke’an was drowning and anxiously looking for a lifebuoy.

Gu Ting could tell Wen Ke’an was frightened and feeling anxious just now. He extended his hand slightly, and as he touched her fingers, she clutched his palm securely.

“Don’t be frightened. I’ll get you out of here.” Gu Ting took her hand and escorted her away from the scene.

Wen Ke’an started to calm down as the alarm sounds in the area gradually subsided. Although she was no longer as terrified as she had been, she held his hand tightly and wouldn’t let go.

They finally arrived at the front of a middle school after about fifteen minutes of walking. The middle school uniform was still on Wen Ke’an. Naturally, a lot of people stopped to watch a young man holding the hand of a girl as they walked down the street.

Gu Ting came to a stop close to the school after realizing they couldn’t go any further. At this middle school, dating was not permitted, and if the teachers learned about it, it might put her in unnecessary trouble.

Gu Ting squatted down a little, looked at her, and asked softly, “Are you still feeling uneasy?”

Wen Ke’an merely shook her head and remained silent.

Li Yaobai had just arrived close to the school when he saw Gu Ting and asked, “Gu Ting, why are you here?”. Gu Ting was holding a girl wearing a middle school uniform and, from his vantage point, was leaning slightly. When Li Yaobai noticed this scene, he grinned and walked over, asking in an odd tone, “Has Young Master Gu started flirting?”.

Li Yaobai was about to say something when Gu Ting turned to face him and, as a result of Gu Ting’s slight body shift, Li Yaobai was able to see the girl standing next to him. Li Yaobai interrupted himself mid-sentence and then abruptly swallowed the rest of his words out of surprise. “Wen Ke’an?”

“Do you know each other?” Gu Ting asked, looking at Wen Ke’an when he said this.

“We do,” Wen Ke’an replied softly.

After hearing Wen Qing’s answer, Gu Ting finally turned to look at Li Yaobai. “You came just in time. Please help me send her to class. “

“You…”

“I have something urgent to attend to now. I will explain it to you when we next meet. Be sure to escort her safely to class. Thank you. “

Seeing Gu Ting’s unexpected politeness, Li Yaobai was still not used to it. A few swear words were already on his lips, but he decided to swallow them back.

When Gu Ting said this, Li Yaobai said no more and agreed to Gu Ting’s request. “Okay, good.”

Li Yaobai had a note with him when he came out this time. Given the relationship between his family and the school, the guard at the school gate recognized Li Yaobai and did not embarrass him. Li Yaobai successfully brought Wen Ke’an back to school. After entering the school, Li Yaobai couldn’t help but look at Wen Kean and ask, “Why are you with Gu Ting?”

Wen Ke’an was obviously not in a good mood. She didn’t speak, but Li Yaobai didn’t mind. He said, “He’s not like us, and girls like you should stay away from him.”

Gu Ting watched from a distance as Wen Ke’an and Li Yaobai entered the school together, then left and hurried back to the company. As soon as he arrived at the door of the company, he met Xie Hongyi waiting downstairs.

“Hey buddy, Brother Ting, what did you do to that girl?” Seeing Gu Ting, Xiei Hongyi stepped forward and said, “Are you here for company business?”

Gu Ting was silent, his eyes were cold. Seeing Gu Ting’s unresponsiveness, Xie Hongyi shrugged and said, “Forget it, I won’t say more than that.” Xie Hongyi suddenly became serious, “Seriously, Brother Ting, your father called me six times.”

Xie Hongyi’s father also worked in the same company and was related to Gu Ting’s father. Xie Hongyi and Gu Ting grew up together and know each other very well. Xie Hongyi looked at the company building and then at Gu Ting and smiled, “But I think I underestimated you before. You are really amazing to have such a big plan for the company right away.”

Wen Ke’an entered the classroom again but didn’t pay attention. Jin Ming had already noted that she had a problem. Jin Ming approached Wen Ke’an after class and softly questioned, “Why have you been daydreaming since you returned? Did Gu Ting bully you?”

Wen Ke’an affirmed, “No. I just remembered some unpleasant things when we went out today,” she said, jerking herself out of her reverie. “Everything is fine now.”

Jin Ming was alarmed and questioned, “Really?”

Wen Ke’an grinned and gave an earnest nod, “Really.”

She was no longer as agitated and fearful as she had been earlier. When Wen Ke’an calmed down, she started to take notice of some earlier off-kilter things.

Gu Ting was conscious of her fear of large trucks. Gu Ting was not yet a close friend of hers, so she wondered why he came over and covered her eyes. Was it just that he had seen her strong reaction at the time, or did he also remember something?

Wen Ke’an wanted to go out again and speak with Gu Ting about this situation in order to get some answers. Considering that Gu Ting might have also been reborn if she had.

Gu Ting, however, had a lot going on at work and Wen Ke’an was also preparing for her first monthly exam. The time was not right now. In order to prepare for the upcoming exam and organize her feelings, Wen Ke’an had to first sort her emotions.

The topics for this month’s exam were manageable for Wen Ke’an after her review session went well. They would have a seven-day break after the exam because it fell precisely on National Day. Wen Ke’an returned to her dorm to pack her things and prepare to leave for home.

Wen Ke’an went to the Qingteng Group building nearby as soon as she got out of school instead of going home. From her previous visit, it was different. The neighborhood around the building was back to normal this time. The employees were coming and going from the building as usual, and neither reporters nor police cars were present.

Wen Ke’an was stumbling around when the security guard at the Qingteng Group company noticed her and asked, “Who are you looking for, little girl?”.

Wen Ke’an asked the security guard, “Uncle, is everything okay with this company now?” after realizing she had been noticed.

The security guard was aware that Wen Ke’an wanted to inquire about the incident that had recently raised a lot of controversy. “Have you not been keeping up with the news lately, Little Girl?” he asked with a smile.

Wen Ke’an nodded in agreement. “I just finished my classes, yeah.”

“Our group is doing great. Our products are flawless, and the previous incident was a miscommunication. The municipal bureau has already released a statement that clarifies everything,” the security guard boastfully said. “Therefore, your parents can feel secure using our company’s products in the future. The quality is outstanding.”

Gu Ting probably didn’t need to worry either if the group was okay. Finally, Wen Ke’an felt relieved. “Thank you, Uncle,” she said, turning to face the security guard. “Now I’ll be on my way home. Goodbye!”

“Goodbye, have a good day!”

Wen Ke’an learned that her family had been preparing to move recently when she got home. Her parents had located a store close to the school and had rented a home there. They just had to move their possessions now.

Wen Ke’an assisted her parents with the preparations during the hectic moving process. They finally completed packing and preparation after several days of labor.

Although not expensive, the rental home close to the school was an outdated structure. But with a little ornamentation, it felt warm. The only drawbacks were that they didn’t have a small yard like they did in their previous residence and that it was on the third floor.

Their pet cat, Da Ju, was having trouble acclimating to the new setting after living in a home with a yard. He would often sit by the door, eager to leave.

Wen Ke’an felt like her body was crumbling after a long day as she lay in bed after taking a shower. She opened her study app on her phone after reaching for it from the bedside table. She was surprised to see one of her teammates online who she hadn’t seen in a while.

Wen Ke’an decided to thank her helpful teammate.

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ]: “You mentioned a method to me last time, and I told my friend about it. It worked really well.”

Her teammate quickly replied.

[ The World’s Most Handsome ] : “What did you do?”

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ]: “I just hugged him.”

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ]: “It seems like my friend didn’t mind that at all.”

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ]: “Do you think he might also like her?”

After sending this message, Wen Ke’an didn’t receive a response for a long time. Wondering why her teammate was taking so long, Wen Ke’an continued her conversation.

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ]: “Hello? Are you there?”

Finally, her teammate replied.

[ The World’s Most Handsome ]: “Yes.”

For some reason, seeing her teammate’s confirmation made Wen Ke’an uncontrollably happy. After thinking for a moment, she continued to ask.

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ]: “They don’t go to the same school, so it’s hard for them to meet. How can they improve their relationship?”

[ The World’s Most Handsome ]: “They can exchange contact information.”

Seeing her teammate’s suggestion, Wen Ke’an instinctively slapped her forehead. How had she forgotten to ask Gu Ting for his contact information?

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ]: “I got it! Thank you!”

Wen Ke’an ended the chat and went to bed after turning out the lights in her room. Her mind was still going even though she had closed her eyes. Obtaining contact information, in her opinion, was crucial. She used to be unable to bring her phone to class because she resided in the student residence. However, since she was no longer a resident at the institution, she was at least able to check her phone each day when she got home.

Someone at the school ought to be familiar with Gu Ting’s contact details. The following day, Wen Ke’an made the covert decision to sneakily bring her phone to class.

On the final day of the seven-day National Day holiday, they had finally finished preparing the store for the official opening. The store was close to the school, on a busy street that was mostly for pedestrians. Because of their prior presence in the night market, they had developed a clientele, and this time, the grand opening drew in some of those same clients.

They held a tasting event on the first day of the grand opening. Wen Qiangguo and Liu Qing prepared and sold the marinated dishes, while Wen Ke’an was in charge of inviting customers to sample the food. Wen Ke’an was amiable, cordial, and gentle, making it difficult for anyone to decline a lovely young lady’s request. The tasting event ran without a hitch.

Once customers had a taste of the marinated foods, almost all of them decided to purchase some. Even bystanders who saw the lengthy line at the store entrance were intrigued and came over to join the line.

The grand opening’s first day was a great success. Wen Qiangguo was concerned they wouldn’t be able to sell the three sizable pots of marinated food they had initially prepared. But to their surprise, they were sold out before noon. They had to make more because they were desperate to avoid disappointing customers who couldn’t try the dishes, but those dishes also quickly sold out. Finally, they chose to call it a day and close early.

Due to its proximity to several residential areas, the new store experienced significantly more foot traffic than the night market. They made a sizable profit today—their net profit even exceeded $2,000—and they made a lot of money.

Even though they were very successful today, Wen Ke’an noticed that her father’s legs were beginning to bother him from standing too much. He would rub his knees now and then. Wen Ke’an suggested something over dinner, worried about her father’s condition.

“Otherwise, your body won’t be able to handle it, Dad. Should we think about hiring a few helpers? “.

Wen Qiangguo responded, “Okay, we will take that into consideration,” realizing his daughter was worried about him. “Don’t stress about things at home,” he continued while grinning. “Our parents will take care of us. You give your studies your undivided attention.”.

Wen Ke’an nodded, “Okay.”

Gu Ting awoke to the following message from Xie Hongyi: “The company’s issues have been settled. Will you join me out?”

Gu Ting responded, “No.”

But I’m already at your door, he said.

Gu Ting unlocked the door and could see Xie Hongyi grinning.

Gu Ting was given a thorough examination by Xie Hongyi before he asked, “Ting-ge, you’re all dressed up. Where do you intend to go?

Gu Ting left without giving Xie Hongyi a chance and shut the door behind him “To the school.”

The day is off from school. Confused, Xie Hongyi questioned, “Why are you going to school?” But then she realized what Gu Ting was trying to say. “You’re not considering visiting your younger sister, are you?”.

Gu Ting was followed by Xie Hongyi, who said, “My little sister’s family relocated nearby and established a fantastic marinated dishes shop.”.

Suddenly stopping and turning to look at Xie Hongyi, Gu Ting, who had been walking in front, did so. “How did you learn that?”

Xie Hongyi uttered the innocent words, “I saw it on my little sister’s social media.”.

“Do you have her phone number?” Gu Ting asked.

Gu Ting asked, and Xie Hongyi instinctively patted his own head when he heard it. “Did I really forget to give it to you?”

Wen Ke’an had arrived at the school in the morning to self-study and had also completed the process of checking out of her dormitory. When she returned to her seat, she took out her phone and noticed a friend request. She looked at the request and saw the name “Gu Ting” with a cartoon girl’s profile picture.

The profile picture was of a purple cartoon girl, which looked similar to the couple profile picture they had used for seven years.

Wen Ke’an hesitated for a moment but ultimately accepted the friend request. It seemed that Gu Ting hadn’t noticed that she had already accepted the request since he hadn’t sent her a message.

After a brief moment of contemplation, Wen Ke’an typed two words.

Gu Ting’s phone abruptly rang, signaling a fresh message. When he opened his phone, he saw a girl’s profile photo on the chat screen. She had sent him a message that was only two words long: “A-Ting?” (“A Ting?”)

Gu Ting clenched his fist as he read this message.

Xie Hongyi, who was standing next to him, realized that something was wrong with Gu Ting. He approached, inquisitive, and took a look at the message.

“Gu Ting, what’s going on?” Xie Hongyi inquired, perplexed.

The way she addressed him as “A-Ting” was already a sweet nickname. Gu Ting’s father has never addressed him in that manner.

Gu Ting didn’t say anything but instead turned and left the area.

Xie Hongyi quickly followed. “Where are you going?”

Gu Ting arrived at the front of Wen Ke’an’s parents’ shop quickly because the location wasn’t distant. It was already midday, and they were out of marinated items. There were no customers in the queue.

“Wow, isn’t it amazing, my brother Ting?” “He found his way directly to our place,” Xie Hongyi chuckled as he followed Gu Ting.

Gu Ting kept walking and was about to enter the shop when he came to a halt and turned to face Xie Hongyi. “Don’t come in.”

“…”  Xie Hongyi stood there in silence.

Gu Ting entered, while Xie Hongyi stood outside.

Wen Ke’an’s father, Wen Qiangguo, stepped up and welcomed the young guy, saying, “I’m sorry, but we’ve already sold out of marinated dishes. You’ll have to return in the afternoon if you want to get some.”

“Hello, Uncle,” Gu Ting gently said. “I’m not here to make a purchase. I was just wondering if Wen Ke’an was at home.”

Wen Qiangguo was impressed by the tall and pleasant man in front of him. “You must be An-An’s classmate,” he said with a smile. “She has already left for school. You can look for her at school.”

“Okay, thank you, Uncle,” Gu Ting replied.

Wen Qiangguo abruptly stopped Gu Ting as he was ready to depart. “Wait a minute, young man. We still have several marinated meals. Take them with you to enjoy if you don’t mind.”

Gu Ting received a small share of the remaining marinated foods from Wen Qiangguo. It wasn’t much, but it smelled great. “Thank you, Uncle,” Gu Ting remarked as he accepted it with a smile. “I wish you every success in your business.”

He noticed Xie Hongyi waiting for him after Gu Ting had left.

Xie Hongyi approached Gu Ting and noticed that he had changed his expression. He appeared composed and serene.

“Wow, Ting-ge, you’re quite an actor. You smoothly played the role of a well-behaved young man,” Xie Hongyi commented.

Gu Ting remained silent for a moment, then softly said, almost as if he were talking to himself, “Leave a good impression on the elders.”

Wen Ke’an was in school and couldn’t meet with Gu Ting right away. However, they had successfully exchanged contact information, and Gu Ting agreed to meet her at the school gate when classes were finished.

Wen Ke’an realized for the first time that time was moving too slowly, and she desired that it could move faster, especially because it was time to finish school.

It was finally time to end school. Wen Ke’an walked towards the school entrance after rapidly packing her belongings. There were a lot of kids at the school entrance, and Wen Ke’an looked about but couldn’t find Gu Ting.

“Cousin!”

Wen Ke’an was about to proceed when she heard a voice beside her. She turned her head to see, and there was a girl standing behind her. Because the girl was not wearing a school uniform, she was most likely not a student at the same school.

“Do you not recognize me, Cousin?” “My name is Xing’er,” the girl introduced herself as she approached.

When the heavily made-up female suddenly approached, Wen Ke’an subconsciously took a step back. However, it was at that point that Wen Ke’an realized who the girl in front of her was.

It was her cousin, Wen Xing’er.

Wen Ke’an hadn’t seen Wen Xing’er in a long time. Li Yueyue, her second aunt, was someone who looked down on the poor and idolized the wealthy. The two families rarely communicated because their families had fallen on hard times. Wen Ke’an had acquired weight after a vehicle accident in her previous life and hadn’t seen her cousin since.

“It’s been a long time, sister. My mother said you lost weight successfully, but I didn’t expect you to look this good,” Wen Xing’er said, admiring Wen Ke’an’s face.

Wen Ke’an had been lovely since she was a child, but her looks had really come into their own after high school. She had also been practicing dance since she was a toddler, giving her an elegant demeanor.

“Thank you,” Wen Ke’an replied politely, taking a step back to maintain a certain distance from Wen Xing’er.

“Sister, the reason I came here this time is to ask you a favor,” Wen Xing’er took the lead. “I signed up to dance at our school’s school celebration program tomorrow night. But I hurt my leg, and the program can’t be canceled. Sister, you’ve been dancing since you were a child; could you perform in my place?”

“Can I?” In response, Wen Ke’an asked quietly.

“Yes, you can wear a veil while dancing, so the audience won’t see your face,” Wen Xing’er instantly proposed.

Wen Xing’er was in tears when she noticed Wen Ke’an didn’t answer right away. She clung to Wen Ke’an’s sleeve, crying, “Sister, please, please help me.”

“Where is it?”

“It’s in the neighboring school,” Wen Xing’er said, pointing to the vocational school next door.

Wen Ke’an remained silent for a moment before agreeing, “Okay.”

Wen Xing’er was overjoyed. “Thank you, sister! I’ll come over tomorrow afternoon!”

Wen Ke’an continued to go forward and out of the school gate after addressing this issue. Wen Xing’er stood there, staring at Wen Ke’an’s vanishing figure. Even as she admired Wen Ke’an’s gorgeous physique from behind, she gradually realized something.

A couple of girls, similar to Wen Xing’er, with excessive makeup and colored hair appeared by her side. They turned to gaze at Wen Ke’an as she went away, then at Wen Xing’er.

“Is that the trump card you were referring to? Will she be able to do it?” one of them inquired.

Wen Xing’er clenched her teeth. “My cousin has been learning to dance since she was a child, and has always been a good dancer, so there must be no problem.”

“I really didn’t expect your cousin to be so easy to talk to,” one of Wen Xing’er’s sisters complained. A young girl beside Wen Xing’er’s side sighed openly.

Wen Xing’er pursed her lips and sneered, “My cousin has a gold heart. She used to assist me in everything. I just hope no one pays too much attention to her.”

“Your cousin is so good to you, and you treat her like this?” another girl inquired pointedly.

“As long as those people don’t focus on me,” Wen Xing’er replied coldly. “Besides, she agreed herself, and it’s not like I forced her to do it.”

Wen Ke’an didn’t walk far when she noticed the figure waiting for her under a big tree.

The young man stood tall, and he hadn’t faced as many difficulties as he would later. He still had a youthful and passionate vibe about him.

Wen Ke’an ran straight at him, halting not far away. They looked at each other calmly under the plane tree.

Now was the time to conclude school, and many students were passing through. Wen Ke’an and Gu Ting were both quite attractive, a handsome man and a lovely lady. Even if they didn’t know them, folks couldn’t help but notice them.

Gu Ting approached her and, predictably, took her backpack.

Wen Ke’an was taken aback. This was a habit from her previous life.

When her health was bad in her former life, Gu Ting would never allow her to carry anything heavy when they went out together.

Gu Ting had already single-shouldered Wen Ke’an’s backpack when she looked up at him.

A shadow appeared in front of her the following minute. Gu Ting leaned closer, slightly bending his body. He averted his gaze and extended his hand to her. “May I hold your hand?” he requested, politely and gallantly lowering his voice.

Wen Ke’an’s eyes sparkled as she placed her hand in his, and she quietly replied, “Of course.”

Her words had just fallen, and Gu Ting firmly grasped her delicate hand, their fingers intertwined.
