The Boss is Reborn with his Little Fairy

Chapter 19: Direct to the Point

It was already late when Wen Ke’an returned home. Her father had been waiting for her at the front door for quite some time. The couple had closed their stall at the night market and came home early, knowing she would return tonight.

At home, Liu Qing had prepared some delectable meals for Wen Ke’an. When Liu Qing saw Wen Ke’an, tears welled up in her eyes, and she battled to keep them back.

“Mom, I’m back,” Wen Ke’an said as she dropped her luggage and dashed toward Liu Qing.

“Is the food at school not good?” Liu Qing asked, hugging her daughter and looking at her with a lowered glance. “How come you’ve lost so much weight?”

Wen Ke’an smiled and said, “The cafeteria food is actually not bad.”

They sat in the living room and talked for a bit. Wen Qiangguo had previously prepared a bath for Wen Ke’an as it was growing late, understanding that she must be fatigued after the voyage. “An-an, the water for your bath is ready. Take a shower and get some rest. Dad will make you something great tomorrow.”

“Okay,” Wen Ke’an said as she stood up to shower.

Wen Ke’an went back to her room after finishing her bath. After a week in the school dormitory, she found her own bed at home much more comfortable.

Wen Ke’an fell asleep quickly, and in her dream, she even saw Gu Ting. She awoke in the middle of the night, however. It was now almost one o’clock in the morning. She got up, drank some water, and then couldn’t sleep again.

Wen Ke’an was lying in bed, bored, when she took up her phone and launched the learning app she hadn’t used in a long time.

She had intended to do some practice questions for a time, hoping to become exhausted and fall asleep. She was surprised to see her teammate’s profile photo on the app, which was still lighting up.

Wen Ke’an thought for a moment, then opened the chat message box.

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ]: Are you still not asleep?

The response came quickly from the other side.

[ The Most Handsome Guy in the World ]: Not yet.

Now all her friends had already fallen asleep, and Wen Ke’an really wanted to find someone to chat with. After hesitating for a moment, she asked:

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ] : Do you have some free time now?

[ The Most Handsome Guy in the World ]: I do.

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ]: Are you a guy?

[ The Most Handsome Guy in the World ]: Yes.

[ An’an Eats Lemons Every Day ]: Here’s the thing. I have a friend who likes a guy. In your opinion, how can a guy be easier to pursue?

Wen Ke’an thought for a moment and added:

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ]: The guy is around seventeen or eighteen years old.

[ The Most Handsome Guy in the World ]: Be straightforward.

The student on the other side appeared composed and aloof, yet those three words nonetheless inspired Wen Ke’an. She thought quietly for a time and realized that what this classmate said was correct. Gu Ting didn’t know her yet, so she had to express herself more directly.

Just as Wen Ke’an was lost in thought, another message came through.

[ The Most Handsome Guy in the World ]: Is your friend also a high school student?

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ]: Yes.

[ The Most Handsome Guy in the World ]: At this age, it’s best to focus on studying.

Wen Ke’an stared at this message for a moment, feeling a bit stunned.

[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ]: Aren’t you a high school student?

[ The Most Handsome Guy in the World ]: No, I’m not.

Wen Ke’an deduced from the tone of the discussion that the person on the other end was most likely a high school teacher.

Days at home appeared to fly by at an alarming rate. Wen Ke’an was going to return to school on Sunday afternoon.

Wen Qiangguo prepared a variety of delectable foods for Wen Ke’an. The entire family sat down for a substantial lunch.

Lunch was almost over when Liu Qing abruptly stated, “Your father and I are planning to rent a place in the city center for business in a few days.” You won’t have to remain in the dormitory because it’s closer to your school.”

“Really?” Wen Ke’an asked, surprised, after hearing Liu Qing’s statements. She wished to spend more time with her parents if given the opportunity.

“That is correct. These days, your mother and I have been looking at real estate. We’ve already chosen a few good options.” While the foot traffic at the night market is reasonable, doing business there indefinitely isn’t a long-term strategy, according to Wen Qiangguo.

Wen Ke’an arrived at school at 2 p.m., and most of her classmates were already there. Wen Ke’an and Jin Ming were assigned to the outdoor areas near the school’s playground as the first assignment upon their return.

“An-An, let me tell you that I helped deliver a litter of puppies yesterday! They were born in threes. I covertly brought my phone today; I’ll show you the images later!” Jin Ming said happily as he swept the area.

“Sure.” Wen Ke’an responded cheerfully.

Outside, there wasn’t much trash, primarily dry leaves. Wen Ke’an swept the leaves into the trash can before accompanying Jin Ming to the trash can.

The garbage cans were located on the west side of the school. As Jin Ming approached, he observed a few students standing near the nearby wall. “Why is that person from the other day back at our school?” he questioned, his brow wrinkled slightly. “They have practically destroyed the west side wall.”

Wen Ke’an raised her head and followed her friend’s gaze. She noticed the black-clad boy on the left right away. He was rather tall, with slightly narrowed eyes, and his stare was fixed on them.

“Isn’t that right?” Jin Ming began to speak, but before she could continue, Wen Ke’an bumped and nearly fell.

“Are you okay?” Jin Ming held onto Wen Ke’an and immediately asked.

“I’m fine,” Wen Ke’an said confidently. The only problem was that the garbage can she was carrying had tipped over, scattering the leaves she had just cleaned up.

“I’m sorry,” Wen Ke’an understood her distraction had contributed to the crash, so she accepted some blame for it. When she looked up at the person she had run into, she saw a familiar chilly expression.

“Are you finished fooling around?” Ji Xingran’s eyes were chilly, and he furrowed his brows slightly in frustration. He talked in a hushed tone.

Even though Wen Ke’an hadn’t said anything, Jin Ming’s rage boiled up immediately when he heard Ji Xingran’s tone. “Hey, what’s your problem?” she shouted aggressively to Ji Xingran. You almost tripped An-An. Do you lack a mouth? “Do you not know how to apologize after colliding with someone?”

Song Jiayi arrived nearby just in time to hear Jin Ming’s statements. Her temper erupted as well.

“Who do you think you are?” she asked, standing in front of Ji Xingran. You know nothing, and yet you dare to speak to Xingran-gege in that manner? Do you realize that the individual next to you has been obsessed with Xingran-gege since middle school? She’s now resorting to any methods possible.”

“I believe you must be suffering from a serious illness, correct? Look, your ‘Xingran-gege’ has already left,” Jin Ming said sarcastically in a peculiar tone.

Wen Ke’an paid little attention to Ji Xingran. She noticed the person she cared about was already approaching, and she felt she wanted to convey something.

Wen Ke’an stated quietly to Song Jiayi, “I don’t like Ji Xingran.”

Her voice was loud, and Ji Xingran, who hadn’t gone far, could clearly hear her. His steps slowed slightly.

Ji Xingran left, and Song Jiayi quickly followed him.

Several students from the vocational high school nearby walked in their direction.

“Don’t worry, we’re not here to cause trouble this time,” Xie Hongyi said as they approached, observing Jin Ming’s hesitant demeanor. “I was just passing through.”

After speaking, Xie Hongyi cast a fearful gaze towards Jin Ming’s arm, fearful that she would release insects to bite him. “Please don’t get agitated, classmate,” he continued.

Jin Ming: “…”

They appeared to have no intention of staying. Gu Ting walked passed Wen Ke’an, leaving her powerless.

She suddenly remembered yesterday night’s conversation. She should have been more direct. Wen Ke’an abruptly came up, “Um, excuse me, can you wait for a moment?” as she watched Gu Ting retreat.

At the sound of her words, Gu Ting stopped in his tracks. He turned around just in time to see a figure running towards him.

The girl ran into his arms against the sunlight.

“…”

“…”
