The Boss is Reborn with his Little Fairy

When Wen Ke’an ran downstairs, it was already a bit late. She noticed a teacher on duty at the school entrance. No students dared linger near the school’s entrance.

Residential students were not permitted to leave the school grounds. Wen Ke’an looked about, but since Gu Ting had most likely already left she couldn’t find him.

Wen Ke’an stood for a time under the large tree at the school entrance, dejected.

“Ran-ge, Ran-ge, look quickly, isn’t that girl Wen Ke’an?” Two male students who had just walked over spoke not far from the school entrance.

If Wen Ke’an looked up, she would feel a sense of familiarity.

Ji Xingran turned to face the girl under the tree after hearing his friend’s words. She appeared to have just done running as she leaned against the tree, her head slightly bowed, breathing slowly and appearing uncomfortable.

“Wow, dude, could it be that school Belle hasn’t let you go?” She even enrolled in the same prestigious school as you?” His companion was taken aback.

Ji Xingran turned his attention away from Wen Ke’an without saying anything.

Those who enjoyed spectacles had no reservations about becoming involved. “Why not go say hello, Ran-ge?” his companion suggested, smiling.

Ji Xingran’s eyes became cold as he walked forward.

For a brief while, Wen Ke’an relaxed, her body completely at ease. She left quickly, so some of her assignments were still in the classroom, and she now needed to return to pick up them.

“Hey, Ran-ge, Ran-ge, the school Belle is walking towards you!” When his companion noticed Wen Ke’an walking towards Ji Xingran, he excitedly whispered.

Wen Ke’an still seemed distracted, strolling forward without much thought.

Most of the students were now leaving the school, but she was the only one going against the tide. Wen Ke’an was walking when she observed someone obstructing her path ahead. She softly asked, “Excuse me, may I pass? Thank you.” without looking up.

“…”

Ji Xingran’s companion was astonished for a minute, unable to believe what he was seeing as Wen Ke’an walked away. “What’s going on?” he said, perplexed. “Did the schoolgirl really ignore you today?”

He realized Ji Xingran had already pushed his bike and went far ahead before he got an answer. “Wait for me!” his friend yelled as he caught up. Ran-ge!!!”

The first day of class at No. 1 Middle School began early, with morning self-study sessions beginning at 6 a.m. Jin Ming arrived in the classroom shortly after Wen Ke’an entered and took her seat.

Jin Ming was in a good mood this morning, and he was wearing a white headphone around his neck.

“You’re here pretty early this morning,” Jin Ming said as he started the conversation with Wen Ke’an.

“Well, I usually get up early at home as well,” Wen Ke’an replied, smiling up at him.

Jin Ming adjusted his backpack and sat down unexpectedly, going closer to her. “Why were you in such a hurry to run downstairs yesterday?” he inquired quietly.

Wen Ke’an had not yet thought out how to respond to Jin Ming’s query when he continued, “You don’t have a crush on Gu Ting too, do you?”

Wen Ke’an nodded after a brief silence, “Yeah.”

Now it was Jin Ming’s turn to be taken aback. “What do you like about him?” he inquired, perplexed.

Wen Ke’an paused for a minute, thinking, “Tall, good-looking, wealthy.”

“…”

Jin Ming seemed unsure of how to respond, hesitating for a while before finally saying two words, “Superficial, huh.”

“…”

There was a break for exercise after finishing two morning classes. During this time, students from No. 1 Middle School would run two laps around the sports field.

Wen Ke’an didn’t want to loiter on the pitch for too long when the exercise break ended, so she quickly moved towards the classroom building. She ran into someone she recognised on her way to class. It was the school beauty she had seen the day before. Wen Ke’an had learnt the girl’s name was Li Ke from other classmates.

Li Ke’s proud gaze remained focused ahead as the two passed each other, striding straight ahead.

Wen Ke’an noticed that Li Ke had a good body, with a slim waist and lengthy legs, as they came closer. In comparison to the immature high school pupils, Li Ke exuded a maturity that belied her age.

Wen Ke’an realized for the first time that Gu Ting used to admire this type of girl when he was younger.

“Wen Ke’an!”

Wen Ke’an had not yet entered the classroom when she heard someone calling her name. When she glanced back, she noticed an unfamiliar female classmate.

Wen Ke’an recognized the classmate as Song Jiayi, her junior middle school classmate, as she approached.

“Do you need something?” Wen Ke’an responded in a calm manner.

Song Jiayi’s gaze searched her up and down before she exclaimed, “You actually got in?”

Song Jiayi proceeded on her own before Wen Ke’an could respond, “Don’t think that just because you’re in No. 1 Middle School now, you can catch up to Xingran-gege.” Remember what you did previously. Xingran-gege will never forgive you.”

“…”

Wen Ke’an couldn’t recall what she had done previously. She didn’t want to be late for class, which was about to begin. She turned to walk towards the classroom without saying anything to Song Jiayi. However, she wasn’t expecting Song Jiayi to grab her wrist.

“I haven’t finished talking yet,” Song Jiayi said, looking at Wen Ke’an.

Wen Ke’an was also not angry. “Do I have an obligation to listen to you until you’re done?” she inquired sincerely of Song Jiayi.

“…You!”

Song Jiayi didn’t expect Wen Ke’an to speak in such a sweet tone, yet her words were razor-sharp. She was ready to respond when she noticed a buzzing sound nearby. She looked up, shocked, and surprised. “What exactly is going on? From where did all these bugs come from?”

Song Jiayi was afraid of bugs, so she let go of Wen Ke’an’s hand and swiftly left the location, forgetting about Wen Ke’an.

“Come back, my darlings!”

Wen Ke’an raised his head. Jin Ming was standing at the classroom door. The few bugs that had been flying around her seemed to have heard some form of command as they went towards Jin Ming’s location.

Jin Ming snorted dismissively as he looked at Wen Ke’an, then at the departing Song Jiayi. “Someone with such little courage dares to come here and threaten others.”

Wen Ke’an approached the classroom door. It was nearly time for class. “Let’s go back to the classroom,” she said to Jin Ming. “The teacher will arrive shortly.”

Wen Ke’an lowered her gaze as they both returned to their chairs and spotted a few small black beetles gently sat on Jin Ming’s palm. These insects had black shells with peculiar patterns on them.

When Jin Ming noticed Wen Ke’an’s interest, he caressed one of the insect’s shells and smiled, asking, “Do you find my darlings cute?”

Wen Ke’an averted her gaze and replied, “They’re pretty cute.”

“Really?” Jin Ming’s eyes glowed. “You’re the first person to say how adorable my darlings are!”

“…”

Jin Ming began introducing Wen Ke’an to his “darlings” after finding that she wasn’t afraid of insects. Wen Ke’an initially assumed Jin Ming just had a few pet insects, but she was surprised to discover that Jin Ming had quite a few hidden in his desk drawer. Jin Ming, on the other hand, kept them in little cages.

Wen Ke’an spoke out after witnessing Jin Ming’s insect collection, saying, “I’ve come to understand something.”

Setting down the insect he was holding, Jin Ming asked curiously, “What is it?”

“I finally figured out why you didn’t have a desk mate before.”

“…”

Wen Ke’an quickly collected her belongings and made her way to the school gate after school in the afternoon. She reasoned that if she went down early, she could run across Gu Ting.

She waited for him for a long time that day, but she didn’t see him. Wen Ke’an didn’t give up hope until there was no one left at school and the sky was steadily darker.

Wen Ke’an had gone to the school gate for the past few days, but she hadn’t run into Gu Ting.

Jin Ming noted Wen Ke’an’s strange behavior as well. He tried to console her while playing with his little creatures, saying, “Don’t wait any longer. Something happened at the vocational school, I heard. He probably won’t come today.”

Wen Ke’an nodded obediently as she heard Jin Ming’s comments, but she wasn’t really paying attention. She was desperate to find Gu Ting. She decided to go find him because he wasn’t coming over.

Wen Ke’an had already devised a strategy in her head. She had also observed the school’s layout throughout the previous few days. The west side wall was not particularly high. She felt that with a simple measurement of the height, she could simply climb over the wall.

Wen Ke’an did not go to the school gate after school that day. Instead, she went to the west side of the school after most of the students had left. She was well aware of the surveillance positions in the area and made sure to walk within the blind spots to avoid leaving any evidence.

Wen Ke’an raised her gaze and proceeded to analyze the height of a little stool placed in front of the wall. “Who would’ve thought, Wen Ke’an, that you would even consider climbing over the wall?” said a rather sarcastic voice from behind her as she was ready to step onto the stool and climb over the wall.

“…”

Wen Ke’an turned around to see Jin Ming show up out of nowhere.

“How did you end up here?” Wen Ke’an didn’t sound guilty or worried. Her tone was unusually calm as she inquired.

“No hurry to go home,” Jin Ming said, pointing to the insects on his body, “Just getting some fresh air for my little darlings.”

Jin Ming’s gaze was drawn to the little stool beneath Wen Ke’an’s feet when he finished speaking. “Is this your first time climbing over a wall?” Climbing like that will almost certainly result in injury.”

“…”

Is there anything else you want to ask or continue the narrative with?

Wen Ke’an raised her eyes to the height of the wall once more. Climbing the wall should be pretty simple for a boy. This height, however, presented a bit of a barrier for her.

Jin Ming had arrived with the goal of persuading Wen Ke’an to abandon the plan, but he hadn’t anticipated that after a few time of contemplation, she would turn to him and say, “Help me.”

Despite Wen Ke’an’s pathetic demeanor, Jin Ming knew he couldn’t give in. “It’s simply impossible.”

Before Jin Ming could finish his statement, Wen Ke’an added softly, pleadingly, “Please.”

“…”

The clouds on the horizon turned scarlet as darkness approached, and the mellow evening sunlight highlighted the two students who were climbing the wall.

Wen Ke’an, fortunately, had a rope in her backpack that she had prepared ahead of time. After much effort, the two girls were able to successfully climb over the wall and into the adjacent vocational school.

Even Jin Ming was exhausted from all of the maneuvering. To collect his breath, he sat on a nearby stone.

Looking at Wen Ke’an, he observed a delicate and pristine aura around her in the mild light, as if she were a pure little fairy.

“Who would’ve thought?” Jin Ming abruptly spoke up.

Wen Ke’an calmly packed up their “tools” for their small expedition. “What exactly do you mean?”

Jin Ming laughed and said, “You’ve got quite the courage.”

“…”

Two strangely clothed individuals were kneeling on the ground in an abandoned lot near the vocational school, pleading for compassion from the few teenagers in front of them.

“Big Brother Ting, spare us, please! We were wrong!”

Wen Ke’an and Jin Ming had quietly observed the scene as they passed by.

Shielded from the sun, Wen Ke’an’s gaze first fell on the figure at the front.

This seventeen-year-old boy in front of her was not quite like the one she recalled. He had a buzz cut, a cigarette dangling from his mouth, and emanated a delinquent air.

“…”

Wen Ke’an’s mind went blank for a time when he saw him.

The two troublemakers had somehow provoked the group of vocational school youngsters and were being questioned after being apprehended.

Wen Ke’an couldn’t grasp or care about the nuances of what was being discussed. Her full focus was on the boy in front of her.

He was dressed casually, stood tall, and appeared thin, yet the slight trace of muscles beneath his clothes hinted at his underlying strength. His slightly narrowed eyes were filled with rage.

“We didn’t do the incident with the girl from No. 1 Middle School on our own. We were compelled!” While speaking, one of the men on his knees screamed out.

“What kind of nonsense are you spouting?” One of the lads directly swung his wooden stick.

“That’s correct! We weren’t deceiving you! We were simply carrying out orders!”

A chilling chuckle filled the air, and everyone went silent, their gaze fixed on the boy in front of them.

The boy’s pupils were pale and his pupils were narrow, resembling a savage wolf with innate aggression.

“So tell me, who gave you the orders?” The boy’s voice was cold and indifferent.

The man who had talked earlier seemed nervous when he saw his stare. His gaze flew around before he became aware of the presence of others.

When the man noticed the two wearing school uniforms, the idea hit him, and he instantly pointed and said, “It’s them!”

Wen Ke’an and Jin Ming were hiding behind a huge tree near the open area. Despite the fact that their location was well camouflaged, they were noticed.

Jin Ming took a step back after hearing the man’s words, urging Wen Ke’an to hide.

However, Wen Ke’an seemed frozen in place, unmoving.

“Hurry up, we’ve been spotted,” Jin Ming anxiously whispered.

It was already late, and just as Jin Ming was about to finish speaking, a voice from close said, “Oh, Boss, isn’t that the new fairy from that Middle School?”

The boy in front of him turned to look in the direction indicated by his partner. The baton in his hand slipped from his grasp and fell to the ground the following second.

A girl in a school uniform stood behind the trees over there. Her skin was fair and she was attractive. Her glossy apricot eyes did not blink as she stared at him.

-End of Chapter-

T/L Notes: After double checking translations again and reading the whole book from the start, I’ll be clarifying 2 things:

  • The characters are presently highschoolers. It’s mentioned in chapter 2 and there are hints about it in the next chapters.
  • After researching, it turns out that China’s Middle Schools are both for Junior Middle Schoolers (Secondary School equivalent) and Senior Middle Schoolers (Highschool Equivalent). In this case, it just means that Wen Ke’an just passed the entrance exam for Seniors and transferred schools for her highschool.

(I also didn’t know this till I decided to research after translating a set of chapters(>人<;))
