[ The World’s Most Handsome ] : “Do you know where she lives?”
A stranger suddenly asked this question, and Wen Ke’an naturally couldn’t just tell him her detailed address.
[ An-An Eats Lemons Every Day ] : “I don’t know.”
Something seems to happen over there, and they went offline.
Wen Ke’an wasn’t paying attention either. She simply cleaned up before taking a bath and going to bed.
Wen Qiangguo had been investigating new cuisines while resting for two days, and Wen Ke’an had become an unfeeling food-tasting machine.
Wen Ke’an had previously been a gourmet blogger with hundreds of thousands of followers on the internet. So, while Wen Ke’an couldn’t accomplish everything, her capacity to taste flavors was admirable.
“I think flavors three and six are pretty good, Dad.” Shouldn’t you give them to Grandpa who fishes to have a taste?” Wen Ke’an proposed it.
“Alright! I’ll go check if he’s there now!”
Wen Qiangguo took his taste-tested chicken claws to the park’s little lake. He was in luck because his grandfather was still fishing there.
“Hello there! I created some new chicken claws. “Could you please give them a taste for me?” Wen Qiangguo handed out his chicken claws swiftly.
The old grandfather had a refined palate and a sharp tongue, capable of picking up on tiny flaws that most people would overlook.
In the midst of Wen Qiangguo’s apprehensive and eager look, the old grandfather carefully sampled the chicken claws before speaking bluntly.
“This one isn’t good. It’s too bland.” It loses flavour near the end.”
“This one won’t work either; the spices are overpowering, and the cooking time isn’t quite right.”
“Go back and do more research.”
Wen Qiangguo spotted these minor nuances with the help of his old grandfather. Wen Qiangguo finally developed tasty chicken claws after an evening of testing. They were tender and succulent, and full of flavour. The meat easily parted from the bones with a delicate bite. They were both savoury and spicy when combined with Wen Qiangguo’s distinctive secret recipe.
Wen Qiangguo couldn’t wait any longer the next morning after successfully manufacturing the new chicken claws. He eagerly carried the prepared chicken claws to the edge of the tiny lake in search of the old grandfather.
“Hey, how does this taste?” Wen Qiangguo inquired.
The elderly grandfather put on gloves and nibbled into it. Because of the spiciness, he wrinkled his brow slightly.
Wen Qiangguo nervously swallowed and watched the old grandpa intently.
Finally, the old grandfather’s expression softened, and he turned to Wen Qiangguo, remarking, “Hmm, this flavour is finally decent!!”
Wen Qiangguo couldn’t wait any longer after receiving confirmation from his grandfather. He made a large pot with the intention of testing the sales effect tonight.
Wen Ke’an went to the night market with Wen Qiangguo in the evening.
Wen Ke’an noticed the young man not long after she came, near where the old lady who sells bracelets normally set up shop. The young man retained his normal posture, that of a calm old man. He didn’t appear to be a merchant at all; rather, he appeared to be a robber.
Normally, several females would gather in front of the old lady’s kiosk at this time to look at bracelets. However, there was no one there anymore, most likely scared away by the young man.
“Is the grandmother not present?” Wen Ke’an approached the vendor and inquired softly.
“She’s got something to attend to, she’s very busy right now,” Li Yaobai said, looking up at Wen Ke’an.
“These are the newly made chicken claws.” Wen Ke’an handed the young guy the bag she was holding.
Li Yaobai thought for a moment before accepting.
“Thank you on behalf of my grandma.”
Wen Ke’an turned around after handing out the chicken claws and heard coughing behind her. When she turned around, she witnessed the old lady’s grandson bite into the chicken claw and be overcome by the spiciness.
“So spicy,” Li Yaobai said, his cheeks turning bright red. “Get me some water.”
Wen Ke’an handed him a bottle of water right away.
She hadn’t anticipated him having such a low tolerance for spice. Wen Ke’an lowered his gaze and softly inquired, “Are you okay?”
“I’m perfectly fine.”
Li Yaobai eventually felt better after a brief respite. He gazed up at the girl next to him; she appeared to have lost weight, her slender neck graceful like a small swan.
“How did the exam go?” Li Yaobai suddenly asked.
Wen Ke’an politely replied, “It went well,” despite not knowing how Li Yaobai knew about her exam.
“I hope we’ll see you at our school in September.”
Wen Ke’an was taken aback for a moment, “You go to the No. 1 Middle School?”
“Doesn’t seem like it?” Li Yaobai chuckled at her reaction.
Wen Ke’an replied solemnly, “Not really.”
Li Yaobai was taken aback by Wen Ke’an’s straightforwardness. He gave a gentle grin and was going to say something when his phone rang.
“Yeah, I’m listening.”
Li Yaobai’s smile faded, eventually replaced by a solemn expression, not knowing what he had heard.
“What exactly did you say?” You’ve been visiting Qingsong District? Have you slept in three days? “Is he insane?”
“Alright, I’ll be there right away!”
Li Yaobai stood up hurriedly, “Keep an eye on the stall for me. My grandma will be here soon. I have something to attend to. I’m leaving.”
He swiftly left, his expression tense and concerned.
