When Wen Qiangguo came home, Gu Ting hadn’t left yet. Wen Qiangguo observed him for a moment and then called him to the balcony.
Wen Ke’an didn’t dare to eavesdrop openly, but she was somewhat worried.
Liu Qing noticed her daughter’s restlessness and said with a smile, “It’s okay, don’t worry. Your father knows what he’s doing.”
The two of them talked on the balcony for about half an hour. When they came back, Wen Qiangguo’s expression was visibly worse.
“Mom, it’s getting late. I’ll walk him downstairs,” Wen Ke’an said to Liu Qing, probing.
However, before Liu Qing could respond, Wen Qiangguo’s voice came over.
“No need to walk him downstairs. What for?”
Wen Ke’an knew her father was still angry. To avoid worsening Gu Ting’s image, she obediently stayed home.
Back in her room, Wen Ke’an took out her phone and messaged Gu Ting.
“What did my dad say to you?”
“Your father said…”
Gu Ting replied quickly.
“What?”
“He said if I ever hurt you, he’d break my legs.”
Wen Ke’an didn’t know what method Gu Ting used, but within just one day, he managed to calm Wen Qiangguo down.
Although her parents agreed to their relationship, they still had to be cautious at home. After a few days, the school term finally started.
Wen Ke’an and Gu Ting had an early flight. While waiting at the airport, Wen Ke’an saw a message in their class group chat.
“Our school is hosting a joint sports meet?” Wen Ke’an looked up at Gu Ting.
Their school was in a university town with several schools nearby. The joint sports meet was organized by these neighboring schools.
“Yeah, there’s been talk. It’ll probably be at the end of October,” Gu Ting said.
Wen Ke’an blinked, “Are you planning to sign up for any events?”
“Do you want me to?” Gu Ting looked at her and asked with a smile.
“Yes.”
Wen Ke’an pointed to an event on the list slowly, “I want you to sign up for this.”
When Gu Ting saw what she was pointing at, he was slightly surprised.
She wanted him to sign up for shooting.
Wen Ke’an knew Gu Ting loved this sport and was talented at it. He had once told her that his childhood dream was to be a shooting athlete, but due to family reasons, that dream was unattainable.
Gu Ting stared at the words for a long time before looking at Wen Ke’an beside him.
He smiled, took her hand, and gently said, “As you wish.”
The registration for the sports meet ended quickly, and Gu Ting signed up for shooting.
This time, the sports meet was conducted jointly by five schools, and the school took it very seriously. They even arranged a special shooting room for them to train.
Gu Ting had been very busy these days. He needed to attend classes, work, and train. At one point, Wen Ke’an deeply regretted letting him participate in this sports meet.
To help reduce his stress, Wen Ke’an often visited the shooting room to see him and sometimes brought him lunch.
The shooting room was very quiet with those training continuing to train and those resting taking a break.
“Damn, Ting bro, you’re amazing!”
Xie Hongyi wasn’t from this school, but he often came to see Gu Ting and occasionally used the training room.
He was attending a university nearby and was also participating in this sports meet.
Before Xie Hongyi could start teasing, he suddenly noticed Wen Ke’an entering the room.
“Ting bro, your lady is here to visit,” Xie Hongyi said with a smile.
Gu Ting put away his gun and turned to look.
Not far away was a pretty girl in a white hoodie. When she saw him looking over, she happily waved at him.
Wen Ke’an waited outside for a while and then saw Gu Ting coming out in his training suit, which was white and had a slight uniform feel.
“Tired?” Wen Ke’an looked up at him. He had clearly been training for a while; there were beads of sweat on his forehead.
“No, just the training room’s a bit hot,” Gu Ting said.
After he spoke, he saw Wen Ke’an already taking out a tissue from her small bag. Almost instinctively, he bent down.
Wen Ke’an carefully wiped his sweat, then saw his dark eyes staring at her.
Wen Ke’an knew what he wanted, but there were too many people around.
Ignoring his gaze, she naturally grabbed his hand and whispered, “Let’s go eat.”
She had brought him lunch that she made herself. Though not as delicious as Gu Ting’s cooking, it looked very appealing.
There were all sorts of pretty little sandwiches, grilled sausages, chicken steaks, and very girlish drinks.
They ate in the stadium’s cafeteria, and many boys from the sports teams directed envious looks their way.
Wen Ke’an had already eaten lunch before she came, so she just quietly watched Gu Ting eat.
While eating, Wen Ke’an’s attention was drawn to a girl behind Gu Ting.
After observing for a while, she nudged Gu Ting and softly said, “That girl keeps sneaking peeks at you.”
“Who?” Gu Ting still didn’t know who she was talking about, and then he heard her mutter, “Do I have another rival now?”
“…”
Throughout Gu Ting’s meal, Wen Ke’an was distracted, frequently glancing at her new rival.
The new rival was an especially cute girl with two pigtails and dimples when she smiled—very youthful.
“I’m done. Let’s go,” Gu Ting said, looking at her for a while before suddenly speaking.
“Ah?” Wen Ke’an hadn’t reacted yet.
Wen Ke’an shifted her gaze from the girl and looked up at Gu Ting. Meeting his eyes, she smiled a bit sheepishly and quietly explained, “It’s just that girl, she looks quite cute.”
Seeing that Gu Ting didn’t respond, Wen Ke’an snuggled closer and took his arm, muttering softly, “I’m not even jealous, what are you jealous about?”
After finishing their meal, they were about to leave the restaurant when the cute girl stopped them.
The girl seemed visibly shy, her speech a bit stuttered.
Instinctively, Wen Ke’an glanced at Gu Ting, only to find him with a cold, expressionless face.
Wen Ke’an lightly tugged on Gu Ting’s sleeve, trying to make him look less intimidating. Just the next second, she heard the girl speak.
“Um, senior.”
Wen Ke’an was momentarily stunned. “Ah?”
Blushing, the girl quietly said, “Senior, you’re so pretty. Can I add you on WeChat?”
“I’m a photographer specializing in portraits. Could you be my model for a photoshoot?”
Wen Ke’an finally understood that the girl wasn’t looking at Gu Ting earlier.
“It doesn’t have to be today. Whenever you’re free, we can schedule it,” the girl further explained.
Suddenly, Wen Ke’an remembered she hadn’t taken portraits with Gu Ting yet. She thought for a moment and then smiled, asking, “Can it be a couple’s shoot?”
The girl finally looked at Gu Ting, her eyes inexplicably showing a hint of disdain.
After hesitating for a moment, she said, “That works too.”
After adding each other on WeChat and scheduling a time, the girl left happily.
When Wen Ke’an turned back, she saw Gu Ting standing still, looking very upset.
“What’s wrong?” Wen Ke’an walked over to him, raising her head to ask softly.
After a brief silence, Gu Ting sighed and said, “Another batch of rivals?”
The sports meet is about to begin, and Gu Ting’s training load has suddenly increased a lot in the past few days.
Every evening after leaving the library, Wen Ke’an goes to the stadium to find him.
With her backpack in hand, Gu Ting naturally took it from her as soon as he saw her.
He had always helped her carry it before, and Wen Ke’an didn’t think much of it.
But this time was different; Wen Ke’an heard him softly inhale sharply.
Wen Ke’an was taken aback. She immediately took back the backpack and looked up at him, “What’s wrong, does your arm hurt?”
“It’s fine,” Gu Ting said.
Wen Ke’an didn’t believe him. She pulled him to a small, secluded corner.
There weren’t many people outside; the evening wind rustled the leaves.
“Let me see,” Wen Ke’an said, glancing at his arm. “Take off your clothes.”
Worried about aggravating his injury, Wen Ke’an added, “Forget it, don’t move. I’ll help you take it off.”
Gu Ting was still wearing his white training uniform, which was like a jumpsuit. Wen Ke’an fumbled with it but couldn’t figure out how to take it off.
She fiddled with his belt for a while, still unsure of how to do it, so she asked, “How do you take off this training suit?”
Gu Ting’s throat moved, and he stared at her for a moment before softly saying, “I’ll teach you.”
Following his instructions, Wen Ke’an finally managed to remove his top.
As soon as she did, Wen Ke’an froze.
She looked up at him and asked in a small, surprised voice, “Why aren’t you wearing anything underneath?”
“It was too hot,” Gu Ting explained.
In the soft moonlight, she could clearly see the defined muscles on his body.
With the moon high in the sky and a secluded atmosphere, anyone who didn’t know better might think they were up to no good.
Just as Wen Ke’an was about to have him put his clothes back on, a few students happened to pass by.
Worried about being seen, Wen Ke’an instinctively moved closer to Gu Ting.
Under the silent tree, she heard him chuckle softly.
Wen Ke’an’s ears turned red. She was about to step back, but Gu Ting reached out, grasped her waist, and stopped her from moving.
Although it was already a bit chilly in October, Wen Ke’an inexplicably felt a certain warmth.
“There are still people outside,” Gu Ting said.
Wen Ke’an stiffened for a moment and stayed obediently in Gu Ting’s embrace.
Being so close, she could clearly feel the warmth radiating from his body and could even hear his heartbeat.
Feeling that it was about the right time, Wen Ke’an looked up at him, but unexpectedly, he also lowered his head. His lips accidentally brushed past her ear.
The faint touch made Wen Ke’an tremble.
Both of them were momentarily stunned.
She grabbed the corner of his clothes and looked at him again.
“What’s the matter?” Gu Ting asked with a smile, looking into her eyes.
Wen Ke’an was silent for a while, then slowly said, “I suspect…”
“Are you seducing me?”
“…”
