Gu Ting couldn’t help but smile and said, “Then make things easier for me.”
Wen Ke’an earnestly replied, “I am very well-behaved.”
“Alright then, be good and finish all this food.”
Wen Ke’an glanced at the large portion of food left, “It’s too much, I can’t finish it.”
“……….”
In the end, the leftover food ended up in Gu Ting’s stomach.
As May started, there were just over thirty days left until the college entrance exam.
Time was too tight, and Wen Ke’an had no time to continue practicing dancing. She spent almost all her time studying, even dreaming of memorizing words at night.
On the day they took graduation photos, the weather was exceptionally good.
The sky was blue, and there were many students in school uniforms on the playground.
“It went by too fast, we’re actually graduating,” Jin Ming glanced back at the teaching building with some reluctance.
“Yes,” Wen Ke’an echoed softly.
It felt like a dream; in a blink of an eye, she had been at this school for almost two years.
She was about to take the college entrance exam again.
“Later, can we stand together for the photo?” Jin Ming turned to Wen Ke’an with a smile.
“Sure!” Wen Ke’an agreed immediately.
Jin Ming was her best friend in high school. Unlike her previous high school experience, this time her class was full of wonderful classmates.
Soon it was their class’s turn to take pictures. Wen Ke’an initially stood at the side with Jin Ming but somehow ended up being squeezed into the middle.
The girls stood in the front while the boys stood behind. After Wen Ke’an took her place, she instinctively looked back at Gu Ting. If possible, she wanted to be closer to him.
Gu Ting seemed to understand her, exchanged places with a classmate, and stood behind her.
Turning around, Wen Ke’an smiled at Gu Ting, but before she could say anything, the photographer yelled, “Alright, don’t look back, everyone stand properly.”
Wen Ke’an immediately became still.
With a click, that moment was forever captured.
A few days later, graduation photos were distributed. The first thing Wen Ke’an noticed was Gu Ting.
In the photo, Gu Ting was not looking at the camera but tenderly gazing at her.
Jin Ming also noticed and, pointing to Gu Ting in the picture, exclaimed, “He’s really bold.”
“This smile is so charming,” Jin Ming added, “This time, the whole class is likely convinced you two are together.”
“You mean they didn’t know before?” Wen Ke’an asked in confusion.
If she remembered correctly, she’d confessed her feelings for Gu Ting in front of the entire class.
“You were drunk at that time,” Jin Ming shrugged, “and for some reason, many classmates still didn’t believe it.”
These were not significant issues, so Wen Ke’an didn’t mind. Soon, the class distributed forms for students to set a target school.
After pondering for a moment, Jin Ming asked Wen Ke’an, “Have you decided where to apply?”
Wen Ke’an: “I want to apply to University A.”
“University A is really hard to get into. I hope I can get accepted,” Jin Ming whispered.
After school, Wen Ke’an went home with Gu Ting.
The streetlights were very bright on the way home. Gu Ting glanced down at the girl beside him. She was wearing her school uniform, looking like a little girl.
“Why University A?” Gu Ting suddenly asked.
Wen Ke’an was taken aback. She looked up at him and earnestly said, “Because it’s the city where we first met. I like it there.”
Before Gu Ting could respond, Wen Ke’an suddenly reached out and gently hooked his pinky finger.
She looked up at him. Under the warm streetlight, her smile was sweet. “You must come with me.”
Gu Ting’s hand twitched, and he tightly held her hand, smiling softly, “Definitely.”
The night before the second last day of the college entrance exam, Wen Ke’an had a rare bout of insomnia. Maybe because of the recent pressure, she hadn’t had a good night’s sleep for a long time.
Turning over and over, it was almost one o’clock, and she still couldn’t sleep.
Unable to sleep, Wen Ke’an simply started practicing problems on her phone. Reviewing now probably wouldn’t do much good, so she figured she might as well practice more.
Just as she finished a set of practice questions, she heard someone knocking on her window.
“It’s me,” Gu Ting’s voice came from outside.
Wen Ke’an was startled for a moment before quickly getting out of bed to open the window for him.
Once Gu Ting was inside, it took Wen Ke’an a moment to react, “Why are you here at this time?”
“Came to see if you’re asleep,” Gu Ting said, “Can’t sleep?”
Wen Ke’an didn’t think much of it and softly replied, “Yeah.”
“Are you going back?” Wen Ke’an looked up at Gu Ting and asked quietly.
“Why?”
Before Gu Ting could finish speaking, Wen Ke’an reached out and grabbed the corner of his shirt, “Can you stay with me tonight?”
“……….”
It was almost half past one. If she couldn’t fall asleep by two, Wen Ke’an probably wouldn’t sleep all night.
Just as Gu Ting lay down, he felt her shift closer. Just like in the past, she especially liked to sleep snuggled in his arms.
“After the college entrance exam, can you go with me to City A for the competition?” Wen Ke’an said softly with her eyes closed, “I want to eat the snacks in City A and visit the places we used to stay. Okay?”
“After the college entrance exam, you can do whatever you want,” Gu Ting said with a smile.
In the dark room, Wen Ke’an opened her eyes and looked up at him slightly.
After a moment of silence, she softly asked, “What do you want me to do?”
After a few seconds of silence, Gu Ting chuckled and asked in return, “Don’t you know what I want you to do?”
Wen Ke’an: “Nope.”
The weather in June gradually became hotter.
On the day of the college entrance examination, the school entrance was specially decorated with firecrackers. Students were entering the examination venue one after another, and there were many parents waiting outside.
Today was very important, so Wen Qiangguo and Liu Qing both took time off from their store to accompany Wen Ke’an.
When the day finally arrived, Wen Ke’an surprisingly did not feel nervous. Instead, Liu Qing seemed more anxious, constantly reminding Wen Ke’an not to forget her exam admission ticket and not to get too tense.
The examination lasted for two days, and after the final English exam, Wen Ke’an finally breathed a sigh of relief as she handed in her paper.
When she exited the teaching building, Gu Ting was already waiting for her below.
Wen Ke’an walked up to him and said with a smile, “It’s finally over.”
“How did it go?” he asked.
“I think I did pretty well,” she replied.
Wen Ke’an found the difficulty of the exam quite manageable and felt confident about her performance.
Happily, she held onto Gu Ting’s hand, swinging it back and forth. “What about you?”
“I should be able to go to the same school as you,” Gu Ting said.
After the exams, Wen Ke’an became even bolder on campus, openly holding Gu Ting’s hand without any hesitation.
At this moment, in the third-floor office, the director of studies stood by the window with a thermos in hand, frozen in place as he watched them.
“Director,” Wang Yilin called, needing to report something, but the director didn’t respond.
She called again, “Director, what are you looking at?”
Curious, she walked over to the window and glanced down.
Down below, a couple in school uniforms was holding hands and strolling around affectionately.
“Are they together now?” the director said in disbelief.
Wang Yilin replied, “They’ve been together for quite some time.”
The director: “?”
Wang Yilin had noticed earlier but chose to turn a blind eye since the exams were approaching.
The director thought for a moment and finally sighed, saying helplessly, “Forget it, they’re about to graduate. There’s nothing we can do.”
After speaking, the director looked down one more time, unable to help but remark, “Young love is really something.”
After the exams, the holidays began. Wen Ke’an felt a bit uneasy suddenly having so much free time. Apart from her daily dance practice, she had almost nothing else to do.
Wen Ke’an, with nothing to do, decided to drop by Gu Ting’s place.
In the past few days, her parents had been keeping a close watch, so Wen Ke’an hadn’t had a chance to come down.
This time, upon entering, she was surprised to find that Gu Ting’s house had changed a bit from before.
Wen Ke’an walked into a room and peeked around.
“Why is there such a big bed in this room?” Wen Ke’an asked Gu Ting, puzzled.
The guest bedroom was spacious, but the bed seemed to take up most of it.
Before Gu Ting could explain, Wen Ke’an, still looking at him, said slowly, “I think you’ve had ulterior motives for a long time.”
Gu Ting laughed at her words, “Isn’t that obvious?”
As he spoke, Gu Ting slowly moved closer.
Wen Ke’an stood still, quietly watching him.
“Can I get a reward now that the college entrance exam is over?” Gu Ting asked, lowering his eyes and softly requesting.
Wen Ke’an chuckled and then jumped straight into his arms, clinging to him like a koala.
Gu Ting, already used to her sudden pounces, held her firmly.
Wen Ke’an cupped his face and peppered his mouth with kisses, saying, “Sure, sure, it’s all yours.”
As it turns out, Gu Ting was the type to ask for more after getting a taste.
Wen Ke’an’s mind was left blank from the kisses, and her collarbone was marked with evidence of his affection.
Feeling near tears, Wen Ke’an looked into the mirror and angrily said, “What if my parents see this?”
“Isn’t that a good thing?” Gu Ting replied with a smile.
Wen Ke’an realized.
He did it on purpose!
She got up from the bed, showing her intent to ignore him.
As she sat by the bed, she noticed the calendar on Gu Ting’s desk.
It was a thick stack with tear-away pages, and it looked like Gu Ting had already torn off many.
“Why are you tearing the calendar?” Unable to hold back any longer, Wen Ke’an turned around and asked him.
Gu Ting looked at her for a moment and said, “It’s only a month until your birthday.”
Before Wen Ke’an could figure out what was going on, she heard Gu Ting continue slowly.
“You’ll be turning 18.”
