Surviving in Apocalypse with Children

Instant Noodles

As night fell, the factory turned completely dark and devoid of any light. The only sound was the hail hitting the ground and other places outside.

Wen Xiaoxiao found a few candles in the space and lit them with a lighter, instantly illuminating the surroundings.

She couldn’t cook a proper dinner tonight, so she took out several buckets of instant noodles from the space. As for the children, she got a few bottles of eight-treasure porridge, heated them a bit under the fire, poured them into bowls, and handed each child a small spoon to drink.

After preparing their meals, Wen Xiaoxiao took out the instant noodles for herself. Pouring hot water into it, the familiar aroma of instant noodles filled the air.

As Wen Xiaoxiao caught a whiff of the fragrance, she couldn’t help but swallow her saliva. It had been a long time since she last ate instant noodles.

After not eating for a long time, the smell of instant noodles suddenly seemed extremely appealing.

The others felt the same way. With their big appetites, one bucket of instant noodles wasn’t enough. They needed at least two, or for the bigger eaters, three.

They started eating without any complaints, even though instant noodles are not the healthiest option.

Once Wen Xiaoxiao finished preparing her instant noodles, she eagerly started eating.

She had chosen spicy hot pot-flavored noodles. It was slightly spicy and very satisfying.

Wen Xiaoxiao was a fan of spicy food. It can be said that she couldn’t resist a bit of heat in her meals. She liked it more hot and spicy.

After eating, the chill in their bodies dissipated, replaced by a warm sensation.

Wen Xiao smacked his lips, occasionally glancing at Wen Xiaoxiao enjoying her instant noodles.

He smelled the aroma and gulped.

“Want to eat,” he said.

After enduring the craving again and again, Wen Xiao couldn’t resist any longer. He looked at Wen Xiaoxiao with eager eyes and said, “Mom, I want to eat too.”

Wen Xiao’s little face was filled with longing.

He had never tasted instant noodles before.

Of course, Wen Xiaoxiao wouldn’t let him eat it. Considering his young age and the fact that it wasn’t suitable for his health, she had never let them eat it before.

Upon hearing Wen Xiao’s plea, Wen Xiaoxiao couldn’t resist the adorable look in her son’s eyes as he watched her enjoy her instant noodles.

She gently explained, “My dear, you’re still little. You can’t eat this. It’s not good for your health, and it might stunt your growth.”

It wasn’t that Wen Xiaoxiao was unwilling to let him have some, but she was just being careful because of his tender age. His organs and body were delicate. She didn’t want him to eat something that could harm him.

“Mom, I’ll just eat one strand, okay?” Wen Xiao extended a chubby finger, bargaining with Wen Xiaoxiao.

Wen Xiaoxiao looked at his cute expression and burst into laughter.

“Baby, you’re so cute. Look at your older siblings and little uncle. They haven’t had any either.”

“But, does my baby want to eat?” Wen Xiao put down his small spoon and ran to Wen Xiaoxiao. His chubby hands were clasped together, and his plump face was looking up at her with pleading eyes.

Wen Xiaoxiao found it hard to resist Wen Xiao’s cuteness and his attempt to charm her.

As for Wen Xiao, the naughty and disobedient child, he knew that by being cute, he could win his mother.

And indeed, he did.

“Alright, but my baby can only have a tiny bit.” Saying this, Wen Xiaoxiao took a strand of noodle from her own bowl smaller than her pinky finger and fed it to Wen Xiao.

Wen Xiao smacked his lips, his eyes wide and sparkling.

He looked at Wen Xiaoxiao with a bright expression. “Mom, it’s delicious!”

The others sitting on small stools and drinking eight-treasure porridge looked at Wen Xiao with disdain.

They didn’t want to admit that he was their brother. They felt embarrassed for him.

Of course, Wen Xiao didn’t care about their opinions. He only knew that eating was the most profound philosophy in life. The world was so big, and eating was the most important thing, right?

Wen Runhan had also never eaten instant noodles before. Growing up in the orphanage, he never had the chance. He didn’t know whether they were good or not.

  1. M&M's says:

I think both Wen Xiaoxiao and Bo Yiliang need to be careful in spoiling the children, particularly Wen Xiao, because he’ll grow up to be a spoiled brat if it continues this way. I know he’s only four-years-old, but he already understands that by acting cute he can get what he wants even if he was rejected the first time. I understand she wants to pamper him because of his weak constitution and his adorableness, but that doesn’t mean pampering without a limit each time. Even though it’s only a very small piece of noodle this time, next time who knows what it will be and how he will react when he realizes he can’t get his way when he always did in the past. It also seems unfair to the other children and her brother because although they didn’t say anything, it’s obvious they would want to taste it, but weren’t even given the opportunity. Hopefully Wen Xiaoxiao will give each of them a small taste so that she doesn’t show her favoritism so obviously.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
