Surviving in Apocalypse with Children

Hailstorm

In the blink of an eye, more than half a month had passed. They had covered a little over two-fifths of the journey. There was only a half distance left before reaching City B.

Along the way, they encountered numerous zombies, but they were easily dealt with.

They also came across several survivors, but instead of taking them along, Wen Xiaoxiao directed them to a safe place—the base she had established.

Although it was referred to as a base, it resembled a newly built city.

The sky outside was covered with dark clouds, hinting at an impending rainstorm.

The surroundings turned pitch black, with no glimpse of light.

The loud crackling sounds caught Wen Xiaoxiao’s attention. She walked to the window of the RV and saw the beginning of a hailstorm.

Feeling uneasy, Wen Xiaoxiao said worriedly, “Yiliang, it’s hailing outside. We need to find a place to take shelter.”

“Yeah!”

Bo Yiliang responded with a slight nod, his brows furrowing with concern.

Then he instructed Cheng Yi to find a suitable shelter.

Cheng turned around and chose a large commercial factory.

The RV was too large to enter, so they could only park it outside the commercial factory.

After bringing out some blankets, thick clothing, and food from the RV, Wen Xiaoxiao stored the RV in her space.

When they got out of the RV, the temperature outside had notably dropped.

Wen Xiaoxiao covered the children with thick clothing and also made everyone wear it.

Soon, they arrived at the commercial factory.

The hail outside was getting larger and larger, and the temperature continued to plummet.

The surroundings were very dark due to the hailstorm. When they stepped inside the factory, they could only vaguely see the inside.

Bo Yiliang walked in front with Qi Yan and others behind him. Then they took a different route and made sure that the place was safe before settling down.

Wen Xiaoxiao examined the place around her. It was a bit empty, so she took out sofas and beds from the space.

Bo Yiliang and his brothers didn’t show any reaction upon seeing her bring things out of thin air. Although Cheng Yi wasn’t aware of the specifics, he instinctively believed that Wen Xiaoxiao had a unique ability related to space, and seeing it firsthand deeply moved him.

Of course, Cheng Yi was the only one who was moved. Everyone else knew that Wen Xiaoxiao’s was similar to the space ability of ability users.

“Mom, I’m sleepy.” Wen Xiao snuggled in Wen Xiaoxiao’s arms like a little piggy.

Yawning, the chubby boy covered his mouth with his hand with tears glistening on his eyelashes. His eyelashes were very long, fluttering, and looked very cute.

“Tired? Then go to sleep.”

“Mom, accompany me. I’m scared.” Wen Xiao pouted and looked at Wen Xiaoxiao with a pitiful expression.

“Okay, okay. Mom will accompany you.” Wen Xiaoxiao couldn’t resist his cute expression and agreed.

After a satisfying lunch, the children soon felt drowsy.

And now it was time for them to go to bed.

Wen Xiaoxiao prepared the beds and put the two beds together. This way, it would not be too crowded and would make sleeping much more comfortable.

Wen Xiaoxiao and the five children lay on the bed and fell asleep.

The children clung to each other and slept peacefully.

Shortly after, Wen Runhan joined them. He lay on his bed and also entered the dreamland.

Soon, the rhythmic sound of their even breathing filled the room.

Meanwhile, several men were sitting on the sofa and looking at the hailstorm outside.

The hail outside started as small dots and then grew to the size of a baby’s fist or even larger.

The hail outside fell relentlessly. It created a cacophony of “pitter-patter” sounds. Unfortunately for the unintelligent zombies outside, the hailstones proved to be a lethal force.

The lower-level zombies immediately fell motionlessly to the ground after being hit a few times.

On the other hand, higher-level ones required dozens of hits to knock them down.

In City B.

Bo Yu looked at the hail falling outside and couldn’t help but feel worried.

The sudden change from warmth to cold caught many people off guard.

Some had thick clothes to keep warm, while others huddled together for warmth.

Some houses even collapsed due to the hail.

The base instantly turned into a mess, and people were in a state of panic. With cries, curses, and everything.

The Jia You Base opposite was not much better either. It could even be said to be worse than the Future Base.

There were a lot of people in the Jia You Base, totaling hundreds of thousands.

The houses there were not built well, and they had long collapsed under the hailstorm.

Some survivors who came from Future Base regretted their impulsive decision to leave the base and go to Jia You Base.

People from the Future Base realized that the food they ate and the place they stayed at in Jia You Base were not as good in the Future Base.

They wanted to go back to the Future Base but were blocked by the people from Jia You Base, who refused to let them go.

Those who persisted in persuading others were killed by the people from the Jia You base.

What surprised them even more was that the people from the Jia You base were eating human meat, which scared them to the point where they trembled in fear every day.

People who arrived at the Jia You Base from the Future Base found themselves trapped. They can’t get out or enter. Even if they were unwilling, they had no choice.

Bo Yibing looked at the hail outside the window, feeling discontented.

He felt like he was going crazy. He was confined to the base every day and couldn’t go out. He didn’t even have anyone to talk to. It was so boring.

Qin Ye, accompanied by international students, arrived in City B. However, there was still a short distance to travel to reach the future base.

If it weren’t for the hail outside, they would have arrived at their destination in two or three days.

At the same time, he worried about Bo Yiliang’s safety.

Although Bo Yiliang was powerful, his previous coma left some uncertainties despite his wounds healing.

The bond between Qin Ye and Bo Yiliang was like that of biological brothers.

Despite Yiliang being older than him, Qin Ye took care of his daily needs aside from the usual instructions, considering how busy Bo Yiliang was.

At this moment, Bo Yiliang was sitting quietly by the window with no expression on his face. No one knew what he was thinking.

But his three friends could naturally understand him.

He was in a bad mood. Without needing to think further, it was obviously because he was worried about whether he could return to City B for half a month.

At this time, Wen Xiaoxiao woke up from her nap and stretched her limbs azily. She looked at the children and Wen Runhan still sleeping soundly on the bed. She quietly got up from the bed, put on her shoes, and walked towards Bo Yiliang.

“Awake.” Bo Yiliang looked at the still sleepy Wen Xiaoxiao and walked over. Her hair, which was slightly curled due to sleep, looked amusing.

“Yeah! How long have I slept?” Perhaps it was because she just woke up, but Wen Xiaoxiao’s voice sounded soft and gentle.

She sat next to Bo Yiliang and waited for his answer.

“It should be about an hour and a half.” Without signals on their phones and a lack of electricity, Bo Yiliang could only give a rough estimate of the time.

“Oh!”

Wen Xiaoxiao, feeling drowsy, leaned against the back of the chair and stared blankly out the window. Suddenly, she asked, “Yiliang, would you betray me and be with another woman?”

“No, I only love you.” Saying this, Bo Yiliang held her in his arms.

The others were sitting a little far away from where Bo Yiliang was sitting. They all leaned on the backs of their chairs and closed their eyes to rest.

However, Cheng Yi was exhausted from driving for a long time and fell asleep with a snore. Although there were Jiang Fuci and the others taking turns in driving, he was still very tired from driving nonstop.

Wen Xiaoxiao rested her head on his shoulder and asked, “Did you have someone you liked before?”

“No, I’m usually busy. I didn’t even have time to rest, but there was one fiancée arranged by my parents. However, the engagement was canceled without my knowledge. You don’t need to worry.” Bo Yiliang replied patiently. He played with her silky hair, which is emitting a faint scent of shampoo, light and very fragrant.

Her hair was smooth and pleasant to touch.

“What about your parents? Do they like that girl?” Wen Xiaoxiao asked again.

“Perhaps they liked her before because I’m busy, and my younger brother, who started a company, is also occupied. We’re rarely at home. As for my mother, she stays at home alone and always feels bored. That girl is the daughter of my mother’s friend. However, neither I nor my family liked her. She took advantage of our family’s support and caused a lot of trouble. Five years ago, she even tried to use drugs to do intimate things with me. Maybe she got her retribution, but she went into a wrong room and did some things with several men in confusion. I ended up sleeping with you. When I woke up, I received an urgent mission and things got busy. There was no time to investigate that night. Later, I got injured and fell into coma. After waking up, I finally had the time to investigate and conducted an investigation.”

“After knowing that it was her doing, I broke off the engagement. My mother, upon learning the truth, was very angry. She treated that girl like her own daughter, but after discovering the girl’s actions, she severed all ties with her.”

Listening to Bo Yiliang’s story, Wen Xiaoxiao couldn’t help but ask, “What happened next?”

Bo Yiliang pinched her nose and smiled, saying, “Then, isn’t it obvious? I came to find you. I didn’t expect you to give me such a big surprise.”

“What surprise?”

“You and five children!”

“At first, I just wanted to be responsible for you. I only had a little goodwill towards you.”

“Unexpectedly, I started liking you and eventually fell in love with you.”

Bo Yiliang said the last part seriously, looking into Wen Xiaoxiao’s eyes.

‘At first, I was the same. Slowly, I fell for you too.’ Wen Xiaoxiao replied silently in her heart.

    Thanks for the update

  2. M&M's says:

I didn’t think that Jia You Base would actually participate in cannibalism! I’m surprised that more people aren’t appalled by their actions and arising up in action against the atrocity. I understand if they’re afraid of being killed in the process of resisting, but no matter how hungry, it’s just wrong to eat your own kind. If the situation continues to persist for too much longer, the hundreds of thousands of people going hungry and afraid of death will eventually revolt; even if there are a lot of powerful ability users, against thousands upon thousands of ordinary people, they’ll eventually tire out and lose. I’m interested to see how their leader will react to such a situation.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
