Surviving in Apocalypse with Children

Wen Xiao's Hidden Illness

After breakfast, Bo Yiliang took Wen Xiaoxiao to the study.

“What’s going on? Why so mysterious?” Wen Xiaoxiao looked at him a bit puzzled. She felt something unusual about Bo Yiliang today.

Bo Yiliang looked at Wen Xiaoxiao with concern in his eyes and said, “Is it possible that the fourth child only has a weak body, but everything else is fine?”

He was afraid his son would be like his younger brother when he was young, not just physically weak but also having poor eyesight.

Wen Xiaoxiao was momentarily stunned and then shook her head and said, “No, when we took him to the hospital for a check-up before, the doctor said his brain nerves were compressed, which caused his eyesight to not be as good as the other four.”

“At that time, when I was pregnant, the nutrients absorbed by the fourth child were taken away by the other four, so his body and eyesight were not good.”

Hearing Wen Xiaoxiao’s explanation, Bo Yiliang felt a pang of sadness.

Previously, with an incomplete fusion of bodies and incomplete memories, Wen Xiaoxiao had set aside this matter.

After the complete fusion, all memories came rushing in.

But at that time, the apocalypse had begun. There were zombies everywhere, not to mention in hospitals, where zombies were even more active. She dared not bring him to the hospital for fear that he would be harmed.

Thinking about his son’s clingy nature, Wen Xiaoxiao felt even more distressed.

She hasn’t been free recently, so she put this matter aside.

Now, she suddenly realized that she might not be a good mother.

She had neglected such an important matter.

Feeling a strong sense of responsibility and guilt, tears welled up in her eyes.

Bo Yiliang watched her and instantly understood.

After Wen Xiaoxiao regained her composure, she looked at Bo Yiliang and asked, “How did you find out?”

“I noticed that the fourth child is often sticking close to you, and he seemed sensitive. He frequently rubbed his eyes, which made me suspicious,” Bo Yiliang explained.

Having spent a long time together, he had only recently noticed this issue. If it weren’t for his brother’s example, he might not have suspected anything.

Wen Xiaoxiao took a deep breath and said, “When we go out, let’s visit a hospital! The medical equipment there should still be intact. We can also look for some doctors.”

Bo Yiliang nodded to show that he understood. He looked at her and said, “But what about the fourth child’s illness? The longer we wait, the more serious it becomes.”

At this moment, Bo Yiliang felt helpless. Apart from matters related to fighting, he didn’t know how to handle anything else.

It’s not that the fourth child is not smart, it’s because he’s extremely busy with barely any time to learn other things.

“I’ll ask Peach later to see if it knows anything.” Wen Xiaoxiao said. She didn’t have a better solution and could only turn to Peach for help.

Bo Yiliang didn’t say anything. He was only skilled in simple wound dressing.

Performing many missions outside all year round, he had them all, no matter how big or small. As a result, he was often injured and had learned how to bandage.

Wen Xiaoxiao communicated with Peach in her mind, “Peach, do you know how to nurture Little Four’s health?”

“Master, have you forgotten about the spiritual water in the space? Moreover, the fruits and other things grown in the space are rich in spiritual energy. If he eats them regularly, he will gradually get better.”

“His main issue is that his body lacks nutrition from being born, which causes this condition. Regarding his eyesight, it’s also due to insufficient brainpower. Eating more and consuming things rich in spiritual energy should help.”

Peach chattered on and on because it was the only one in the space and there was no one to talk to.

Now that the master is looking for it and asking it questions, it must have to say Jin Xing ah!

(TL: Jinxing means bad luck. This sentence implied a funny meaning. Peach is trying to say that it would give ‘bad luck’ to its owner. Either because it would chatter a lot and annoy Wen Xiaoxiao, or other way.)

Otherwise, it doesn’t know when it will be able to talk so much next time. So, grabbing the chance, it transformed into a chatterbox.

Although Wen Xiaoxiao found Peach’s excessive talking a bit annoying, this was about her son’s health, and she patiently listened to its advice.

After understanding, she immediately felt relieved.

Fortunately, the food in her space is rich in spiritual energy, and the nutritional value is much higher than regular food.

Bo Yiliang was aware that Wen Xiaoxiao was fully focused on communicating with Peach and didn’t disturb her. He found a spot and sat down.

Then he took a magazine and started reading it with interest.

Feeling satisfied with the answers from Peach, Wen Xiaoxiao chose to ignore it afterward. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to, but Peach’s constant chatter gave her a headache.

“You useless woman, useless woman, useless woman.” Peach grumbled with frustration.

After being used, it was thrown aside.

“Hehehe, it’s so pitiful.”

im not sold on the main cp’s romance. you can tell the author is a newbie. there’s a lot of plot holes & things feel rushed and slow at the same time. i will continue to read tho. thanks for the translations

I strongly agree with you. The romance between Wen Xiaoxiao and Bo Yiliang wasn’t realistically developed, there are a lot of inconsistencies in the plot, and the pacing of and transition between plotlines wasn’t well-executed. Despite all the various flaws, though, something about the general storyline still draws me to continue reading it. I’m hoping the author’s writing skills improve over time because this is definitely the work of a newbie, lol.

  2. M&M's says:

For all the spiritual foods Wen Xiao has been eating, consuming the Marrow-Cleansing Pill, and cultivating, you’d figure he’d be practically cured by now. As for addressing his current problems, I don’t know what kind of hospital they’re hoping to find that still has doctors and medical equipment working, but that seems near impossible unless it’s also being used as a base. I guess it’s just another way for Wen Xiaoxiao to gather more people to save along the way, lol.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
