Surviving in Apocalypse with Children

Luolin City

After driving for a while, they arrived at Luolin City, which is adjacent to Xieshui City.

Upon entering Luolin City, the surrounding buildings were almost turned into ruins. Compared with the smaller houses, they looked crumbling.

Roar, roar, roar…

The zombies outside moved swiftly, shuttling back and forth on the asphalt roads, searching for food.

If zombies didn’t eat for a prolonged period of time, they would eventually starve to death.

Low-level zombies walk slowly and starve to death slowly.

The higher the level of the zombie, the faster it would starve because their fast movements caused a quicker loss of life.

Wen Xiaoxiao instructed Cheng Yi to circle around Luolin City to see if they could find a place to establish their base.

During the circle, they also encountered some zombies, but the number was not too many and a few people could handle it.

Because there are not many zombies, the RV’s speed has also increased.

After completing the circle, Wen Xiaoxiao felt that this place was quite good. In the southeast direction, there was an undeveloped area.

They should be planning to use this undeveloped area for a construction project before the apocalypse arrived, Wen Xiaoxiao thought.

And this was also ideal and cheap for Wen Xiaoxiao.

She asked Cheng Yi to stop the car, and several people got out to inspect the area.

Wen Xiaoxiao asked Bo Yiliang, “What do you think about this place for establishing a base?”

Bo Yiliang glanced around with his eyes. Then he surveyed his surroundings with his mental power and found no issue, so he nodded. “It’s pretty good. The area is large enough. It should work.”

While saying this, Bo Yiliang’s expression remained indifferent. No one could guess his thoughts.

However, Wen Xiaoxiao could sense that he was a little worried.

Shaking off those thoughts, she examined the surroundings and felt highly satisfied.

With the space’s base model in her hand, Wen Xiaoxiao could slowly expand it, and the surrounding buildings would melt due to the base’s expansion.

Originally, Wen Xiaoxiao had no intention of saving those people because she found it troublesome.

She could also tell that Bo Yiliang wanted to help but was powerless.

He came without any supplies, and there was no safe place for them to stay. Instead of wandering with them, it was better for them to rely on themselves.

However, her perspective changed. As a citizen of Z Country, even if those people were not the best, when the people of the country were in distress, she understood the saying “Blessed people share the same hardships.” She is a citizen of Z Country, and those suffering people are her compatriots.

Having the ability to help them and not giving help, it was certain that she would be laughed at!

There’s a saying, “Oh! When alive, you’re a person of Z Country, and when dead, you’re a ghost of Z Country.”

Many sacrificed their lives to protect Z Country, becoming heroes for both Z Country and people like them. Yet, how many would remember them?

Perhaps it was the appearance of Peach or the influence of those children that changed her thoughts, taking root and growing.

And the once glorious country of the past has now turned into this apocalyptic place.

She thought that maybe it was because of the people’s doings, and they should respect the laws of nature.

“As you sow, so shall you reap.” Wen Xiaoxiao didn’t believe at first, but now she does.

Her eyes, looking in the distance, became more determined.

This change didn’t escape Bao Yiliang’s notice. He could see Wen Xiaoxiao’s fighting spirit, so why won’t he too?

Maybe it was because this matter had deeply entered Wen Xiaoxiao’s heart that she suddenly wanted to do something for Z Country.

Despite being weak, she believes that she would stand at the highest point.

With this determination, Wen Xiaoxiao will become stronger and stronger as she goes further, which is admirable.

  1. M&M's says:

Uh…I have to say Wen Xiaoxiao’s change is very unexpected and not believable at all. This entire time she could care less about others’ struggles and deaths in the apocalypse and she only had thoughts of helping others in order to gain merit points and improve her abilities, and even then, she was still very reluctant to help others because she found it troublesome. I don’t know why it now changed to her having righteous thoughts for the weak and defenseless, and a sense of unity with people because they’re from the same country.

Unfortunately, the author isn’t very good at character development and it mostly shows in Wen Xiaoxiao’s thoughts and actions that seem to take on drastic changes conveniently for plot development. Perhaps if Wen Xiaoxiao had come across more atrocities from the apocalypse during her travels and the changes in her mindset could be seen along they way, I might have believed her change in thoughts now, but it clearly never happened; I could say the same for Bo Yiliang as well because he suddenly had a change of heart to care for others when he didn’t show any thoughts previously either. Well, I guess I won’t expect much from their character development at this point and take it that as the plot progresses, so will the characters’ personalities to meet with the changes, lol.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
