Surviving in Apocalypse with Children

Credit

Wen Xiaoxiao woke up around five in the morning. Instead of rushing to the bathroom, she sat on the bed and contemplated.

“Peach.”

“Master, do you have something to ask?” Peach’s voice echoed in her mind.

Wen Xiaoxiao was a little sleepy and fell asleep last night, and she forgot to ask last night: If she saved people, where would they stay? It wasn’t practical for them all to stay in her RV!

Expressing her thoughts, Wen Xiaoxiao used her mind to communicate with Peach: “Peach, if I save people, where can I keep them? Should they stay in my RV?”

“Master, you can establish a base!” Peach said in a soft and cute manner.

“Establish a base? How do I do that? I don’t have anything, and even if I did, I wouldn’t know how to build!” Wen Xiaoxiao responded.

“Hehe, Master, don’t you still have me?” Peach laughed mischievously, wearing a triumphant smile on its face.

As long as the master saved people and accumulated many merit points, not only would it benefit the master, but it would also be beneficial to Peach. Eventually, Peach could transform and become human. Thinking of this, Peach laughed happily.

“This… how can you establish a base?” Wen Xiaoxiao asked with disdain and looked at Peach who was laughing foolishly in the empty space.

“Master, you can buy on credit!” Peach said with a smile.

“Credit for what?” Wen Xiaoxiao asked in confusion.

“Master, there is a shop in the space. You can buy a base and place it somewhere, and it will expand. It only costs 10,000 merit points.” Peach said.

“There is such a shop.” Wen Xiaoxiao was surprised.

“Yes, Master! While Peach was sleeping, the space shop also disappeared. Now that Peach is awake, the space shop has reappeared.” Peach explained to Wen Xiaoxiao.

“Then can I see what bases are available?” Wen Xiaoxiao asked Peach.

“Of course.” As soon as these words left Peach’s mouth, the space shop appeared. There were many different items in it, but Wen Xiaoxiao wasn’t interested in those. She was focused on the bases.

The screen displayed several types of bases, all costing 10,000 merit points. Wen Xiaoxiao took a quick look at them.

There were only three types, and they are quite similar.

The first type had city walls 300 meters high, with houses made of tiles. It included a courtyard, and the bathroom and kitchen were located in the courtyard. There were two bedrooms and a living room.

There were 9,999 houses. It can accommodate around 60,000 people if each house holds six.

The second type had city walls about 500 meters high and two-story houses inside. The first floor had five rooms, including a kitchen and a warehouse, and a living room. The second floor had six rooms. In total, there were eleven rooms.

There were 9,000 houses. If three people live in a room, it can probably accommodate more than 300,000 people.

The third type was a villa with walls 600 meters high. The house inside had three floors. The first floor included a kitchen, a living room, and a warehouse, totaling three rooms. The second and third floors each had four rooms. In total, there were eleven rooms in a house.

There were 8,500 houses, accommodating around 280,000 people if each room houses three people.

Wen Xiaoxiao finally chose the second type.

So she selected the purchase, and it succeeded. It left her with a negative ten thousand merit points.

Wen Xiaoxiao looked at the 10,000 merit points she owed and was not in a hurry. She intended to start saving people after the black rain stopped and then search for her brother.

Wen Xiaoxiao examined the base in her hand that had shrunk by an unknown number of times and then played with it.

She asked Peach, “How many merit points do I get for saving one person?”

“Master, you get one hundred merit points for saving one person. To ensure peaceful coexistence, there will be loyalty pills when the time comes. If you make people take them, they’ll be loyal to you.”

“What about the base? What if there are too many people to fit inside?”

“Hehe, Master, the base will expand as the number of people increases. You don’t have to worry at all.”

Wen Xiaoxiao suddenly felt that having so many people loyal to her wasn’t bad.

Why?

Well, it seems that she has no choice but to reveal her space. After all, she is alone. Although she has a base now, she can’t manage it with only herself.

Besides, Bo Yiliang, being one with her, is trustworthy, and his friends are also reliable.

After thinking about it, Wen Xiaoxiao stopped worrying. She got off the bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up.

At this time, the four children also woke up, sitting obediently on the bed with their eyes wide open and spinning around. They looked so cute and adorable.

Seeing her children every day made Wen Xiaoxiao’s heart especially sweet.

  1. M&M's says:

I have officially declared that Peach is not a space artifact spirit anymore, but a system, lol. Only systems would use stores to encourage their hosts to work hard on their mission tasks for things they can buy in return, so it doesn’t make sense why a space artifact has a store in addition to it being a space with all types of spiritual things in it, especially since it’s from her cultivator ancestor. It would have been better to just have it be an inheritance system or something at the start that gave her the early benefits of space and cultivation books and then the store and other things could have been more naturally incorporated into the story.

I have to say that the author added in quite a mix of random things to her apocalyptic setting (apocalypse, space, spiritual water and lands, cultivation, various pills, a split consciousness across parallel worlds, connected life/death fate between FL and ML, merit points, a store, a mission to save the world). It’s not necessarily bad to want to incorporate a lot of different elements into a story, but the cohesion between them needs to be worked out better to make it more realistic and believable. Hopefully the author improves their storytelling as the plot progresses because I do still enjoy the overall story, despite my complaints about certain plot points, lol.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
