“Master, there’s one more thing I forgot to tell you.” Peach scratched its non-existent hair on its head and said sheepishly.
“What is it?”
“Master, your life is connected with Bo Yiliang’s. If he dies, you will die. If you die, he will die.” Peach said solemnly.
“So you mean if one of us dies, the other will die too? Is that what you’re saying?”
“Yes, master.”
Wen Xiaoxiao finally understood why Bo Yiliang suddenly died in the book. It was because Wen Xiaoxiao died.
No, it should be said, the other was her.
“Master, you need to join forces with him to save this world. Otherwise, it will be destroyed. Moreover, helping those people will only benefit you and wouldn’t do you any harm.” Peach explained.
Wen Xiaoxiao frowned. She didn’t really want to save people because she thought it would be a burden.
Seeing Wen Xiaoxiao’s expression of “no, don’t make me save them”, Peach sighed.
“Master, the more people you save, the more merit points you will have, which will be converted into strength and improve your cultivation and abilities.”
“Alright, I will save them!” Wen Xiaoxiao reluctantly said. She was motivated by the idea of gaining merit points and improving her cultivation and abilities.
“Can I go out now?” Wen Xiaoxiao yawned and asked.
“Master, there’s one more thing I forgot to tell you.”
“Why do you have so much to say?” Wen Xiaoxiao said impatiently, her face sulking.
“Master, you have another younger brother.”
“What? What are you talking about?” Wen Xiaoxiao looked at Peach with an expression that suggested he was playing a joke on her.
“Master, what I said is true. Have you forgotten it? Your father took your mother out because she was pregnant. They went to the hospital to check the baby in her belly due to stomach pain.”
Wen Xiaoxiao was stunned, and suddenly a memory rushed into her mind.
A young woman caressed her belly. With a fentle smile, she said, “Xiaoxiao, be a good girl. Dad is taking Mom to the hospital to check on the little brother in Mommy’s belly. Xiaoxiao, go to sleep obediently. Dad and Mom will be back soon.”
For some reason, tears welled up in Wen Xiaoxiao’s eyes. Since she transmigrated into this world, some memories were blank, and the same was true for this memory. This memory seemed to be deliberately blocked, something she didn’t want to recall.
Wen Xiaoxiao wiped away the tears on her face and asked with a slightly choked voice. “Where is my brother then?”
“After your mother passed away, the doctor found that there was still a child in her belly. The child was taken out and sent to an orphanage.”
“Now, in the apocalypse, his life and death are uncertain, but I think there is hope for survival.”
“Okay, I understand. Can I go now?” Wen Xiaoxiao said in a weak tone.
Opening her eyes, she looked at the four sleeping babies, feeling much calmer in her heart.
She suddenly felt like this was a dream. She was Wen Xiaoxiao, and Wen Xiaoxiao was her. She and Bo Yiliang were connected, and now there was a younger brother.
She originally thought she had transmigrated into a book, but she found out that she was just a trace of consciousness from a parallel world.
She didn’t know if she should be happy.
She thought she should be happy, not only because she has five lovely babies, but now she also has a younger brother.
Sighing, she fell into a deep sleep.
At this moment, it was probably already midnight. The dark rain outside made crackling sounds.
People with experience from the last time hid indoors and didn’t go out.
The younger brother, Wen Xiaoxiao, was thinking about sleeping curled up in a corner. He looked about eleven or twelve years old and was dirty all over.
The night was a bit cold, and there were no warm things like blankets to keep him warm. So he could only sleep close to others so he wouldn’t feel too cold.
He managed to sleep peacefully until dawn.
This is becoming kind of a weird development. I don’t understand why Wen Xiaoxiao would get merit points for saving people and why she and Bo Yiliang are connected together through life and death. I honestly don’t really like the setup of her saving people just to get merit points because it makes her seem more selfish, since her saving others has ulterior motives and is done with great reluctance. I would prefer her to be more heartless in her approach because at least her actions are more sincere that way rather than saving others just for her personal benefit. Of course, ordinary people certainly wouldn’t complain about the reasons someone saved them because as long as they’re saved, they could care less about the reasons. Overall, the way Peach describes Wen Xiaoxiao’s “mission” to save the world and people along the way makes it seem more like a system than a space artifact spirit, so hopefully that gets more explanation as well.
Thanks for the chapter! 😀
One thing I forgot to comment on is why Wen Xiaoxiao wasn’t informed by the doctor that she had a sibling. Since her parents were killed in the accident, but the unborn child managed to be saved, wouldn’t it be logical for the doctor to see if there was any remaining family to adopt the child before sending him to an orphanage? Especially since she was informed of her parents’ deaths and most likely had to arrange everything herself, how could she not be informed of her brother’s birth at the time of her mother’s death? This part makes no sense to me at all and doesn’t seem very realistic.
