Surviving in Apocalypse with Children

Cheng Yao Wakes Up

The others also nodded. Their abilities were only at level two. Although they had killed many zombies, there were not many crystal cores, some of which they couldn’t use themselves.

Crystal cores come in various colors, each corresponding to the color needed for one’s specific ability.

For example, thunder-type abilities use a purple crystal core, water and ice abilities use a blue crystal core, plant abilities use a green crystal core, fire abilities use a red crystal core, and wood and earth abilities use a brown crystal core.

As for power-based and mental abilities, they use a white crystal core.

In the room, Yun Jiao wiped her son’s face with a towel. Cheng Yue was already lying in bed and asleep.

“Son, wake up quickly!” Yun Jiao sat on the bed and muttered softly.

Cheng Yao’s complexion had improved compared to before, looking a bit rosier.

Yun Jiao didn’t notice that Cheng Yao’s fingers moved slightly.

The reason Cheng Yao was in a coma was because he had not eaten food or drank water. If it had been a day or two later, it might have been too late.

After wiping Cheng Yao’s face, Yun Jiao went to the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Cheng Yao, who was lying in bed, showed obvious signs of waking up.

His eyelids moved!

After a gentle tremor, Cheng Yao opened his eyes.

What entered his sight was a clean, white room. Cheng Yao was a bit confused and didn’t know where he was.

Yun Jiao came out of the bathroom. Her face looked somewhat tired. She sighed lightly, and her gaze landed on another bed where her daughter lay.

Then it fell on Cheng Yao. Nothing seemed wrong at first glance, but happiness and surprise were evident in her eyes when she looked over again.

Yun Jiao rubbed her eyes and blinked again, realizing that she was not dreaming.

Rushing to Cheng Yao, she hugged him excitedly and said, “Son! You finally woke up.”

In contrast to the joy here, in another room, Pei Xi seemed much colder.

Sitting on the floor with lifeless eyes, he appeared to be in a trance.

His fair face was a bit numb, and in his mind, he kept dreaming about his parents’ deaths.

The feeling of helplessness lingered in his heart.

“I want to become stronger. I don’t want to be so powerless.” Pei Xi’s desire to become stronger was getting stronger and stronger.

Thinking of his parents’ last words, jokingly telling him to live well, he felt determined.

“Mom~” Perhaps due to not speaking for several days, Cheng Yao’s voice was a bit hoarse.

“Where is this?” Cheng Yao was a bit puzzled and confused. Aren’t they in an abandoned small house?

Yun Jiao, with a cheerful expression, replied while smiling. “We encountered good benefactors.”

She briefly explained the events and what had happened.

“Miss Wen is a good person. She doesn’t look down on us because we’re ordinary people. We even eat what they eat.” Yun Jiao expressed her gratitude and had a favorable impression of Miss Wen.

“We’re currently staying in Miss Wen’s RV. It has everything we need, and it’s very comfortable to live in,” Yun Jiao couldn’t help but admire. Miss Wen is wealthy, though money is practically worthless paper now.

Cheng Yao opened his mouth and tried to speak, but found his throat too dry to form words.

“Ah, ah, ah…”

Seeing her son struggling to speak, Yun Jiao poured a glass of water and fed it to him.

After drinking the glass of water, Cheng Yao felt much better and spoke.

“Where’s Dad? Why haven’t I seen him?”

“Your dad is driving the RV. You should go back to sleep now! Your sister is sleeping on the other bed,” Yun Jiao explained to her son, reassuring him.

“Okay.”

Cheng Yao drifted back to sleep again.

Yun Jiao covered her son with the blanket, then went to her daughter’s bedside and tucked her exposed arm into the blanket.

Afterward, she went to the bathroom to freshen up.

After coming out of the bathroom, Yun Jiao lay down beside her daughter and fell asleep.

When her son was in a coma, she felt worried all the time. But now that her son is finally awake, the worry in her heart has lifted. She drifted into a deep and sweet sleep.

The night passed gradually.

Outside, it was quiet as everyone slept, leaving only Cheng Yi still awake and driving attentively.

Around midnight, Qi Yan woke up and took over the task of driving from Cheng Yi, letting him rest.

Cheng Yi dragged his tired body to the bathroom for a simple wash, then laid on the bed, quickly falling into a deep sleep.

  1. M&M's says:

So Pei Xi hasn’t discovered his power-based ability? I wonder how long it’ll take for him to realize so that he doesn’t feel so useless anymore. As for Cheng Yi’s family, though, they might as well enjoy the comfortable living conditions because as soon as they reach the base, they won’t be living so well, just like the rest of the ordinary humans.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
