Surviving in Apocalypse with Children

Level 2 Crystal Core

Feeling warmth in her heart, Wen Xiaoxiao suddenly realized that being here might not be so bad after all.

Bo Yiliang reached out his slender fingers, stepped forward to grasp Wen Xiaoxiao’s small hand, and helped her up from the ground.

“Let’s go! It’s getting late,” Bo Yiliang said.

Seeing that the sky was almost completely dark, Bo Yiliang was afraid that the others would be worried.

“Alright,” Wen Xiaoxiao replied.

As they were about to leave, Wen Xiaoxiao noticed a bright emerald light emanating from the zombie’s head.

She stopped and walked over to where the zombie had fallen, feeling very excited.

It… It was a level 2 crystal core. Thinking of this, Wen Xiaoxiao’s eyes lit up with excitement.

With her small hammer in hand, she crouched beside the zombie, held her breath, and used the hammer to carefully extract the crystal core.

The crystal core was about the size of a child’s marble. It was emitting a beautiful, icy blue light, making it look very magical.

“Bo Yiliang, look, this is a level 2 crystal core.” Wen Xiaoxiao said with a beaming smile, her eyes forming crescent shapes.

Bo Yiliang was a little helpless, but when he saw her smile, a faint smile tugged at the corners of his mouth.

“Let’s go! They must be getting worried.” Bo Yiliang said to her.

Meanwhile, back in the RV, the people inside were becoming increasingly anxious as the two still hadn’t returned.

Bai Xiaolian pulled Bai Chi back to the milk tea shop and gleefully watched as Wen Xiaoxiao remained absent.

In her eyes, Wen Xiaoxiao getting into trouble and dying was exactly what she deserved.

A pity for her, no matter who dies, it would never be her! This thought brought immense satisfaction to Bai Xiaolian.

Inside the RV, Wen Bei and Wen Xiao saw that both their parents were still missing and pursed their lips. Their eyes glistened with tears, and they appeared on the verge of tears.

“Big brother, why haven’t Mom and Dad come back yet?” Wen Bei asked with red eyes as she looked at Wen Mo and his two older brothers.

Before Wen Mo could respond, Jiang Fuci said, “Little Bei, your mom and dad will be back soon. Just be patient and wait.”

“Uncle, I’m not called Little Bei, I’m called Wen Bei.” Wen Bei said with teary eyes, looking at him with her big round eyes, her expression soft.

“Pfft…”

Wen Mo, who had always been expressionless, laughed out loud. He felt that his little sister was strange. strangely adorable.

In this short episode, Wen Bei forgot to cry and looked at his older brother who was laughing at her with an unhappy expression.

“Big brother, you’re not allowed to laugh.” Wen Bei pouted and glared fiercely at Wen Mo.

Wen Heng patted his little sister’s head to soothe her. “Little sister, be good, let’s ignore big brother.”

On the sofa, Pei Xi remained silent, watching the children laugh so happily. His heart felt heavy and lonely.

He missed his mom and dad.

He had witnessed his mom and dad being bitten by zombies, but he was powerless to help.

The cries of his mom and dad, yelling at him loudly, “Hurry, run!” echoed in his ears, as if mocking his powerlessness and uselessness.

Pei Xi clenched his hands tightly, and his palms even oozed a bit of blood.

One can imagine how hard he was gripping.

Pei Xi didn’t notice that his strength seemed to have increased significantly compared to before.

At this moment.

Wen Xiaoxiao and Bo Yiliang returned with their belongings and got into the RV. Wen Bei rushed over and hugged Wen Xiaoxiao’s leg.

“Mom, why did it take you so long to come back?” Wen Bei looked at Wen Xiaoxiao with her big watery eyes.

“I’m sorry, baby. Mom will come back early next time. Baby, let go of Mommy for now. Mommy smells bad.” Wen Xiaoxiao said, stroking her little head.

Smelling the zombie stench on herself, she have the urge to vomit.

“Do you know how to cook?” Wen Xiaoxiao looked at Bo Yiliang.

“I know a little bit,” Bo Yiliang replied.

“Then you can make dinner! I’m going to take a shower.”

“Alright…” I’ll do it.

It’s surprising that Bo Yiliang didn’t question Wen Xiaoxiao’s terminology about the zombie and its crystal core, but I guess she can just brush it off with apocalyptic novels she had read beforehand. As for Pei Xi, I’m glad that it seems he’s developing some power, although it seem to be geared toward strength at this point, which isn’t that bad, but doesn’t seem as interesting or useful compared to other superpowers.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
