Surviving in Apocalypse with Children

Pei Xi

The zombies were quickly dealt with. After all, this was just outside the city. There were fewer people here, so the zombies would obviously not be many.

Wen Xiaoxiao watched the young boy, who was now tired and panting. His cheeks were flushed, fine sweat could be seen on his forehead, and his hair was slightly damp.

She looked at him with a calm but emotionless expression.

The young boy looked at Wen Xiaoxiao and Bo Yiliang, his tone sincere as he said, “Big brother, big sister, can you… can you take me with you? I don’t eat much food, and I won’t slow you down.”

The young boy spoke hesitantly and even stuttered slightly due to nervousness.

Bo Yiliang, who was standing next to Wen Xiaoxiao, pursed his lips tightly, watched him with an indifferent gaze and didn’t respond.

Wen Xiaoxiao contemplated it in her heart and thought about whether to bring him along or not. After all, she wasn’t a saint and wouldn’t accept just anyone.

In the current apocalyptic world, people’s hearts have changed. Things were relatively fine for now, but that might not be the case in the future. They could be betrayed or harmed when they least expected it.

But as she looked into the young boy’s clear eyes as he pleaded with her, her first impression of him had been quite positive, and his character seemed reliable.

Her intuition was usually accurate in assessing people’s character upon first meeting them.

Bo Yiliang remained silent because he respected Wen Xiaoxiao’s decision, and he knew it was her car, but more importantly, she was the children’s mother.

After a moment of silence, Wen Xiaoxiao asked the young boy, “What’s your name?”

The young boy was overjoyed. He was very smart and realized that he was being accepted.

He replied, “My name is Pei Xi.”

Wen Xiaoxiao nodded and spoke, “You can come with us, but you must not betray us. If I find out, don’t expect me to be lenient. You also need to follow our rules.”

The young boy nodded and assured her, “Sister, you can trust me! I won’t betray you.”

He looked at Wen Xiaoxiao directly, his tone earnest and serious.

“Where did you come from?” Wen Xiaoxiao felt curious and asked.

The young boy’s eyes turned slightly dim. His eyes showed some emotions of pain. He said in a choked voice, “From the small shop not far ahead.”

At this moment, Pei Xi wore thin clothes, causing him to look weak and fragile. Looking at his lowered head, Wen Xiaoxiao sensed a hint of despair in him.

Wen Xiaoxiao told him, “Get in the car.”

Then Wen Xiaoxiao entered the RV, followed by Bo Yiliang. Pei Xi looked at their backs and also went after them.

Wen Xiaoxiao took a seat on the sofa in the RV and suggested, “Let’s go to the small shop ahead and see if there’s any food.”

There was enough food in Wen Xiaoxiao’s space to last for a long whilw, but she didn’t want to reveal that to them.

Let’s wait until the day when there is really no food!

Besides, collecting food now would also benefit them.

The RV was fully equipped with various things. Even the refrigerator in the villa was moved to the RV.

There were many generators placed inside, so there was no need to worry about running out of electricity. It could be said that the RV was furnished by Wen Xiaoxiao to be comfortable and complete.

The RV slowly made its way to the small shop Pei Xi mentioned. It didn’t take long before they arrived at the shop.

The shop wasn’t very large, covering an area of about 100 square meters.

Although there wasn’t a lot of stuff inside, it was sufficient to eat for a few days.

There were some snacks, noodles, instant noodles, and some drinks.

The group came down and carried the items back and forth to the RV.

The shop was also emptied.

Wen Xiaoxiao felt that in a while it would be noon.

Watching the five well-behaved children sitting beside Bo Yiliang, she saw Wen Bei and Wen Xiao both looking a bit drowsy and obviously tired.

She told Bo Yiliang as he looked at him, “You take good care of the kids. I’ll go to the kitchen to prepare some food.”

    Thanks for the update

I’m glad they took Pei Xi with them, but I’m just surprised that both Wen Xiaoxiao and Bo Yiliang were pretty indifferent to his pleas, since the former hasn’t been in the apocalypse that long to become emotionally affected by indifference and the latter is a military officer serving the people, so I figured he would have a bit more sense of duty toward the general populace’s safety. Hopefully Pei Xi develops powers so that he can be more helpful and eventually take care of himself without the aid of others.

    Thanks for the chapter! 😀
