SPECIAL CHAPTER 19

SPECIAL CHAPTER 19

Part 141

When they joined hands in an arm wrestling match, he coaxed Damien, who tried to explain the pine cap by saying it was not a hand but a pot lid, and told her to go back to the inn. Adrian picked up Damien, who was unable to stand upright and was staggering.

“Wow, it’s high. It feels like I’m on an amusement ride. Adrian, how tall are you?”

“It’s 184cm.”

“Wow, that was bad. You’re 24 centimeters taller than me. What did you eat to grow so big?”

“I ate everything well.”

“You ate just about anything.”

Adrian burst into laughter as he walked towards the inn, holding Damian, who was quietly grumbling, in his arms. Damien cupped Adrian’s laughing face with both hands and kissed him on the lips. He stopped walking down the street for a moment.

“I like it best when you dress like that.”

Adrian answered, taking the steps he had stopped taking again. The pace of walking became a little faster.

“I always like it.”

“Actually, so do I.”

Damian smiled and kissed his lips again. Normally, this would have been unthinkable. Entering the inn, while Adrian was running up the stairs two or three at a time, Damian grabbed Adrian’s head and kept kissing him. Adrian, barely able to regain his senses, came into the room and carefully placed Damien on the bed.

“Your eyes are pretty, your nose is pretty, there’s nothing about it that isn’t pretty, right? Uh, it’s a room.”

When Damian, who was already lying down on her bed, blinked her eyes and looked around her, Adrian, who turned her gaze to him, asked.

“Where else is pretty?”

She studied Adrian’s face looking down at her from above and then she kissed his chin.

“You have a pretty jaw line.”

“And again?”

Adrian’s brightly smiling eyes were already bright red, and he was undoing his shirt with his hands that were not supporting his weight. Damian found Adrian’s pretty parts one by one and kissed him happily. Adrian also gave Damien a deep kiss, telling him each of his beautiful parts. The night was long, and there was no place Damian wasn’t beautiful.

At dawn, when the sun was about to rise, Adrian woke up. He looked down at Damian, who was fast asleep in his arms, smiling at her with a full smile on his face. He felt like she could do anything. If there were days where she could wake up and see Damian’s face, anything could happen. If Damian had said she wanted to be queen, se would have become king, even if it meant causing a bloody storm in Midoc. But Damian hated the throne as much as he hated it. She said she didn’t like positions where she had to worry all the time and had heavy responsibilities. She was the mistress of the duchy, the only one of Laurentine, so she could do whatever she wanted, but all she wanted was to work hard and move forward step by step in her own position. If her dream job was to be her treasure, he might make it right away, but she wouldn’t be happy if she found out that she got that position with his hands behind her back. She did not enjoy expensive dresses or jewelry or extravagant entertainment. She could pile up mountains of jewels if she wanted to, but Damien was cautious about gifts that looked even the slightest bit expensive. She enjoys riding in uncomfortable carriages and loves the common street food. How cute it was to see her happily holding the crude doll.

When he brushed her cheek with the tip of his finger, she seemed to be tickled, so she stumbled and escaped his embrace. Adrian didn’t want Damian to turn her back on him even in her sleep, so Adrian quickly hugged Damian’s shoulder. The sight of her twitching and then coming into his own arms again was so adorable that it was almost unbearable. He looked down at Damien’s face and found himself amazed at how he was living in a way he had never imagined a few years ago. He thought he would have gone somewhere by now. He thought that once he erased the traces of his father, who still left deep scars on his back, he would have no regrets about the duchy or the boring battlefield.

He thought it’s okay to set up a mercenary group and travel around the continent with people who will follow him wherever he went, and he didn’t mind returning to his territory and living quietly. In fact, he’s okay with that. He was actually afraid of having power. He wanted to let go of everything because he was afraid he would become obsessed like his father and wouldn’t be able to see anything else. Because the image of his unhappy mother came to mind, he did not have the confidence to take on anyone as a companion. He had never dreamed of such a heartbreakingly happy relationship. He was always anxious that her smiling face would fade away after being around such a beautiful woman. When he became anxious, wondering if his one-sided feelings were pushing her to do something she didn’t want to do, Damien, without fail, saved him by saying that she loved him.

He would live the rest of his life solely for her smile. And Adrian’s face darkened as he lowered his lips to Damian’s forehead, engraving in his heart the private vow he made every morning. He parted his lips and ran his hand over Damien’s forehead, which grew darker. There was a slight but feverish feeling. Come to think of it, the body he was holding was also hotter than usual. When he thought back and wondered if he had overdone something, there were more than one or two things that came to mind. Did she overexert herself during the long carriage journey, the uncomfortable sleep, and the late-night night when she fell asleep in the carriage? It was all about the coldness of the lake water yesterday and the fact that she had been drinking too much all night. Adrian, who very carefully got out of bed, left the door and went downstairs. George, who had read his master’s presence, stood in front of him without a sound.

“Call a doctor.”

George suddenly raised his head in surprise at Adrian’s command to find a doctor, then his face hardened and he disappeared in an instant. At seven o’clock in the morning on the second day of summer, the rain fell on ‘Madam’s Shadow’.

* * *

‘Oh, my head.’

She opened her eyes because she was thirsty, and why did her head hurt so much?

“Adrian?”

“Yes. Damian.”

“What’s wrong with your face?”

Adrian’s expression was dark as he handed him a glass of water as she stood up and covered her head. What Adrian gave was warm honey water, and Adrian, who was watching the candles light up, still answered with a stern face.

“The doctor hasn’t arrived.”

Doctor? What doctor? Even though she drank all the honey water, wondering if her thirst was not quenched, she asked for a glass of cool water and drank it. Her thirst has improved, but ‘oh my gosh’. Now that she thought about it, her body felt heavy and chillingly cold. She realized this while watching Adrian putting his hand on her forehead.

It’s her, she just found out about her condition and the doctor was already on call. Did she have too much fun playing in the water yesterday? No, this headache was just that, but she remembered the hangover and the fruit wine she drank yesterday was so delicious that she drank four glasses of it. Damian had never drunk like that before. Damian believed she could drink too much and drank too much. She enjoyed the drink, but the hangover was amazing.

‘Ugh, the speed is bad.’

After going to the bathroom and refreshing the two glasses of water he had just drank, Adrian’s face became even darker. He makes a face that looks like he’s about to cry, and when she offered him honey water again, he accepted it and didn’t believe her when she told him she’s okay now. She couldn’t move from the bed, so she lay back down and it was cold again. She thought she had a fever. She must have had so much fun without even thinking about her physical strength that she felt like the cold and body aches were coming along with the hangover

She was lying down quietly, and then George brought the doctor. The doctor, who looked as if he had been captured after waking up, came into their inn room, looked at her and Adrian in turn, cleared his throat, and came towards her.

“Is this your first time at Lake Upor?”

“This is her first time. We arrived yesterday.

Adrian answered instead.

“Where did you come from…?”

“Midoc.”

“Ah, you are a capital noble. You must be very worried since your wife is sick during the summer vacation.”

“She has a mild fever and was vomiting a little while ago. Examine her.”

“Oh my, my, my.”

The doctor with a kind-looking face took her temperature, looked around her face, and nodded with a serious expression. She was worried that she would have to take very bitter medicine again this time, but the doctor looked so serious that Adrian’s face became increasingly hard.

“Yesterday she went swimming and drank a lot. She feels like she has a hangover and a cold, so please make her some medicine.”

“Ma’am, I don’t think it’s that simple.”

“What?”

“It looks like you have a disease endemic to this area.”

“Endemic disease?”

“Yes, you know that when someone with a weak body comes to this area for the first time, they get a fever, feel nauseous, and suffer from lack of energy, but later they end up trying to save their place.”

“Who has a weak body? Even if it’s just a hangover and a cold, right?”

She protested, but the doctor still shook his head with a serious look on his face, and Adrian, his face white, came to the side and held my hand. No, how did he know if she had an endemic disease or a cold just because he touched her face a few times? Was he the Hwata of this world?

Adrian, who usually treated her like a glass doll, looked extremely serious, as if he had believed the doctor’s words. But she was not weak. He shouldn’t compare himself to her.

“It’s okay, Ad, it’s not like it’s endemic.”

“You don’t have to worry too much. I found it early, so I’ll give you some medicine. If you take the medicine for a few days, you’ll feel better.”

“Get some medicine right away.”

“But it is a bit expensive because the medicine is rare.”

“It doesn’t matter how long it is.”

“Wait a minute, Adrian. Hey, doctor. Anyway, if I take medicine for a few days and rest for a few days, my cold will get better. Don’t act like a fool.”

“I’m saying this because you don’t know much about medicine. If you take it lightly, you’ll end up in big trouble.”

This doctor has a benevolent face, and he’s used it to threaten people once or twice, hasn’t he? She couldn’t ask them to show her the test results, so she just took a look at their faces. If the name of the disease was mentioned right away, was that a doctor? She was skeptical, but Adrian, who would do anything for her health, just urged the doctor to get her some medicine right away. If that doctor was committing fraud, then it’s true that he bit the tycoon in the right direction.

“Ad, I don’t think I can understand it. Let’s call another doctor and get examined again.”

“Madam, there is only one doctor in this area. If you delay and miss the right time for treatment, you will only suffer.”

“There’s only one doctor? Doesn’t that mean no one knows what kind of treatment you do?”

“Damian, it would be best to get treatment first and then investigate.”

“But, Ad, how do you know what’s in the medicine he’s giving me?”

As she spoke while looking at the doctor with suspicious eyes, Adrian suddenly glared at the doctor with a look that seemed like he would kill him and spoke softly and clearly.

“I’m not going to mess around with Damian’s medicine.”

“Of course. It’s a very precious medicine, so you’ll definitely get healthier!”

The doctor told her she was sick, but she couldn’t insist that she wasn’t, so she finished the story for now and sent him away. Her head still hurt, and Adrian still looked worried. Still, she knew how meticulous the duchy’s dedicated doctor was when he examined her, but that doctor was so clueless. Even their doctors, who were said to be the most skilled after those in the royal palace, examine and examine everything they can from the scalp to the tips of the fingers. He called George over and found out that he had paid a whopping 50,000 gold for the medicine. It was obvious that Adrian gave the gold coin without a second thought. She told George to find out if there were other patients suffering from endemic diseases, and after eating, she drank the medicine the doctor had given her.

In the morning, the headache went away and her condition seemed to improve. Then, in the afternoon, she felt a chill and her fever rose. While she was half asleep, she heard George grabbing the doctor by the collar and yelling, and she took the medicine again. As it got colder, Adrian picked her up while she was sweating profusely and fussing from the cold, and called her name in a sorrowful voice. And it seemed like she was being put in a carriage and running somewhere. She was so out of her mind that she couldn’t remember anything after that.
