SPECIAL CHAPTER 13

SPECIAL CHAPTER 13

Part 135

She spent the afternoon excitedly planning a vacation with Adrian, and the sun set before she knew it. Adrian’s eyes, who were only looking at her face and not the map he was looking at, began to turn red little by little. When she went down earlier to take a walk after dinner, it seemed like there was no one else in this inn besides them. He couldn’t have suddenly gotten angry, so his eyes were clearly blank. If she pressed something wrong today, she felt like she would be lying down tomorrow without being able to do anything.

After washing up, she was curled up on the sofa when Adrian walked up to the bed and picked up the blanket. And then he pounded his pillow.

“It’s time for the housewife.”

She looked at the clock and saw that it was nine o’clock sharp. Adrian got married and became an adult with a good life. She didn’t think he usually went to bed before 12 o’clock, but when she got inside the blanket and lay down, he’s lying on her side with his head on his arm and looking at her. He looked at her with red eyes that were just staring at her, and he just smiled.

“Is it that good?”

When she asked with laughter, Adrian folded his eyes and smiled and nodded his head.

“Yes, that’s good.”

She liked it because she saw a pretty face with red eyes and a smile like a child.

“I like it too. I missed you, thank you for coming.”

She smiled at him and his big hand came up to me. His long fingers gently touched her forehead, his nose, and his lips. Affection and desire flowed from his fingertips as he carefully brushed his hair, his ears, his chin, his neckline, and his shoulders. Adrian’s lips were hot against mine. His hands digging into her thin pajamas and his breath in my ear were hot. Summer hasn’t even come yet, but it’s here.

The next day, she woke up late, had a late breakfast, spent the morning leisurely, and then had lunch. After lying down exhausted, she began preparing to head to the eastern border. Adrian followed her into the bathroom to help me take a bath, put something on her hair, and after washing up, he laid out all five trunks and carefully selected clothes for her to wear. Why was he so skilled?

‘Jenny, you sure didn’t teach the duke how to be my maid?’

After she finished getting dressed, he stood behind her and took off her hair, even humming. He tried to do this and that and it didn’t work out, so he looked down at his large hands with a serious face, sighed, handed her his headband and said,

“I think I know how Jenny feels.”

As she brushed her hair with the headband she received from him, he planted his mouth on my exposed forehead and smiled and made a promise.

“I will practice hard during my vacation.”

‘Don’t do it.’

She also took the comb away from Adrian, offering to comb his hair, but her Flower Adrian was pretty even if she just brushed it roughly. No, it looks pretty even if you just leave it scattered. Ah, such a flower-like man. Holding his hand, she climbed into the carriage and turned his back on Viscount Blancha. Malta, a military city on the eastern border, is located in the Duchy of Nodovan, but is under the direct control of the royal family. Since it was close to the Viscounty of Blanca, they were able to arrive around dinner time. As they crossed the border of Malta, soldiers lined up on both sides of the road as the carriage passed by and saluted in unison. In a loud voice, “Commander General!” Adrian shouted. Adrian made a very annoyed face and went out of the carriage. Outside, she heard someone who seemed to be the general commander of Malta Castle reporting something to Adrian. When she peeked out, she saw a middle-aged soldier with sweat dripping down his forehead. Come to think of it, Commander-in-Chief of the entire Laurentine army suddenly barging in without contacting us must have been a kind of disaster for these people. After traveling a bit with Adrian, who returned to the carriage, they arrived somewhere and when they got down, they found themselves in front of the castle. And three people with swollen faces were tied up and kneeling, and George was standing next to them.

“Ma’am, these are the people who opened the ingredients in exchange for money for iron trafficking.”

As expected, he caught everything. Looking at his face, it seems like he has already confessed. Just attach a few documents and send them to Midock, and now everything is done. She nodded and said to Hipster George.

“Good job. I’ll take care of the remaining paperwork.”

George bowed his head with an excited look on his face in praise, and the Commander-in-Chief of Malta knelt in front of her on one knee and handed me five black notebooks.

“Inspector, although they committed corruption, our Maltese castle was definitely run cleanly! I swear on my life that I did not waste a single penny of tax money! I brought you last year’s and this year’s ledgers, so please review them. please!”

Oh no, was he there? She caught them, so the job is done. They didn’t have to give her this… but since she already received it, should she just take a look? It was difficult to easily obtain border data from the dock, so let’s check the operational status of the Eastern Front at this time.

As she took the first volume of the ledger, George took the rest and stood next to her. As she fluttered through the documents, the commander spoke to his subordinate.

“Hurry and show the inspector to his room!”

“What? The room? Adrian, are we sleeping here?”

Adrian also looked at the Commander-in-Chief as if he was hearing this for the first time, and he responded by pounding his chest.

“We have prepared a room for the Commander-in-Chief and the Inspector-General. Dinner will be ready soon!”

She thought it was just a quick stopover, but since the Commander-in-Chief has arrived at a military town on the border, isn’t it that simple? By the way, her official name was not Inspector General, but it’s still better than Duchess. She took a step forward to follow the knight who was going to guide her, but George and Franz followed her on both sides. Adrian spoke with a grinning face.

“Would you like to review the military ledgers?”

“Yes, I’ll take a look while I’m here.”

Then Adrian spoke to the commander, who was still kneeling, to see the face that was smiling at her.

“Then, let me check the training situation on the Eastern Front.”

It was a moment when the already pale faces of the Maltese soldiers became white. The commander’s residence at the border was also a space where distinguished guests traveling across the border were entertained. Although it was called an official residence, it was as big as any other lord’s castle. The room that the general commander gave the lady and her was the most luxurious and largest room in the residence, and the dinner was excellent. She felt strongly that they were treating us with all their sincerity, but that doesn’t mean they could just look at the documents. After dinner, she checked the ledgers carefully, and as the commander said, she found no abnormalities. She didn’t know if it’s her satisfaction as the head of the inspection department that it’s being run cleanly, or her relief that she could go on her honeymoon without having more work to do, but either way, she was glad. Adrian left for a moment while she looked at the papers. George said that all of Malta was in emergency mode. She didn’t know what they were doing, but it seemed like they were dealing with corrupt executives who had taken money.

The night was deep, and they lay down on a soft bed, but today they fell asleep holding hands and soothing their regrets. She didn’t feel like doing anything else because there were so many employees in the hallway outside her room who were so eager to come running and serve her when she called. The next morning, her husband didn’t wake her up, so she woke up late and found the seat next to her empty. She called Franz and asked him where Adrian had gone, and he answered with a grin.

“You are informing Malta’s defense forces about the dawn training in Vigorga.”

Adrian’s face appeared a moment later and looked very refreshed.

* * *

While having breakfast together, the Commander-in-Chief of Malta Castle appeared with a face that had become half-faced overnight. She returned the ledger she checked last night.

“We reviewed it and found nothing that could be problematic. We ask for transparent operation in the future.”

At her words, the commander nodded his head vigorously with a thirsty face. After breakfast, he was resting in his room. He had to go on a trip, but five trunks seemed like too much, so he was thinking about reducing his luggage. Besides, since we are planning to go out with just the two of us, the duchess’s flashy dress is just a burden. Jenny put different colors into dresses, shoes, hats, pots, and even fans. She asked George to buy her some plain clothes that wouldn’t stand out. George ran to the shopping district and bought several ready-made clothes that perfectly fit my intentions. If it had been Ethan and Jenny, they would have foamed at the mouth and opposed it, but hey, neither of them are here right now. When she changed into a beautifully dyed wedding dress and looked in the mirror, she looked like a commoner living a leisurely life or a low-class noble.

While she was leaving, Adrian also changed his clothes. He wore a simple vest with no pattern and black pants. Why did this man look like a prince who had gone undercover? She tried putting a hat on to cover up his hair and face, but it didn’t help, so she took it off again. Adrian didn’t even know why she was squirming, so he just smiled broadly, put on his mouth and twirled around as he told me to. She was going on like this for a while, when a servant came in and told her that she had a guest.

‘Are you my guest here? Who was it, huh? Why is Laurel here?’

The door opened and Laurel and her deputy came in. Adrian stood up and took Laurel’s lieutenant, who greeted me politely, so that we could talk in peace.

“Laurel? Oh my god, I never thought I’d see you here! What’s going on?”

“Oh, Damian, you seem to be getting prettier and prettier. Is it because the dock is so narrow that you came all the way to the border on a date?”

“It was a date, I didn’t think so at first.”

Laurel laughed out loud at her answer.

“So that’s it now? I’m on a business trip. I heard that Damien was here, so I came to see him. I heard about your activities in the Viscounty of Blanca. Did you post something big this time?”

“I didn’t know it would grow this big.”

“What you did is not over yet.”

“What are you talking about?”

As she blinked, Laurel laughed and opened her mouth.

“I heard that the Kingdom of Sorrento was preparing for war, so I was on my way there. But thanks to you, it was revealed that their war preparations are intertwined with our Laurentine.”

“War? Against our kingdom?”

“Oh my? It’s impossible to guess. Rather, I guess they’re going to invade the Kingdom of Cocone. The two kingdoms have similar forces, right? I guess King Sorrento has made up his mind this time.”

What? Cocone Kingdom? She was so surprised that she spilled the tea cup she was holding.

“Not in Cocone Kingdom!”

There, Eilene might get married. Oh my god, she was so shocked that Laurel patted my back and laughed.

“Because of the Duke of Donovan’s daughter?”

“Huh? Yes. Did Laurel know?”

“Who am I, Damien?”

“Are you the Marquis’s daughter, Laurel Madeira, the goddess of information?

“Yes, of course I know that. Moreover, from the perspective of Laurentians, we are against war, and it is even more unacceptable for our country’s steel to be used in that war.”

“Then?”

“This body has come to retrieve all the iron that went to the Kingdom of Sorrento.”

As expected, Laurel was the coolest. She nodded and clapped for him, and Laurel shrugged his shoulders and then smiled. Laurel said that if the Kingdom of Sorrento makes an issue of smuggling iron without the permission of our royal family, they will have no choice but to return it. He also said that if the Duke of donovan’s daughter marries King Kokone, he would not be able to invade without permission. Ailene, who broke up a few days ago, said that she was in trouble, and according to Laurel’s intelligence, she had decided to become the queen of Cocone Kingdom. Great.
