SPECIAL CHAPTER 1

Part 123

The sky was endlessly blue. It was a sunny and warm spring day, with flowers in full bloom for spring. Nobles from all over Lorentine once again gathered in the main hall of the main palace where the King’s coronation ceremony took place. The nobles, with faces as bright as their extravagant costumes, sat down to celebrate the wedding that thrilled Laurentyne, and the national wedding ceremony began with everyone cheering. Her Highness Remina entered the ceremony hall, dragging a long dress. Count Ban Hestein, who came in next to her, holding her hand, had a long white cloak like a veil hanging from his shoulders. Sitting among the cheering nobles, she also clapped hard.

“What can I do? Ah, our King, aren’t you beautiful?”

“Is beautiful.”

As Adrian was trying to counter without a soul, she tilted her head and looked back at him. Everyone looked happy, but Adrian’s face was full of unconcealed dissatisfaction.

“Why? Why are you looking like that on this nice day?”

When she said this, rubbing Adrian’s forehead with my thumb, he laughed. It was funny, but the wrinkles between my eyebrows didn’t go away. She tried breaking it a few more times, but it was still slightly cracked.

“Last time, you postponed it because of childbirth, but this time, you postponed it again, saying that if you are newlywed and overworked, you have no shame in seeing the state records.”

Adrian responded by clenching his fist in exasperation, and after hearing the answer, she scratched her cheek in embarrassment. Most Midoc nobles know that Adrian was chasing the King with a letter of resignation, and that the King was avoiding Adrian by making excuses. Well, at this point, even their King was very upset. They hadn’t done it yet, but the king got married so quickly. Last spring, Adrian and she, who had returned from defeating the remnants of the rebellion in the ridiculous cold with absurd tactics, were enjoying the National Foundation Festival and deciding when would be a good time for the wedding. However, this time, Adrian, who was appointed commander-in-chief of the allied forces and led the armies of the two countries, resisted fiercely, but was eventually defeated by the King’s persuasion.

She was planning to go and have a wedding, but her father refused to eat and drink, saying that if he went to the front line right after getting married, her daughter would not be able to enjoy her honeymoon and would have to live in an empty room by herself, so Adrian broke down again. Last year, when she had to endure until her 19th birthday and then go on a campaign trip and wait for him again with cold heart, she was so depressed that she didn’t want to think about it again, but the war situation that she heard about from time to time was so terrible that she couldn’t even get depressed.

When she woke up, she heard terrible news that a city had been destroyed, and an official letter of protest came from the Duchy of Cologne.

‘Your commander-in-chief seems crazy, so please stop him. There is no such thing as a national war like this.’

The war, which was expected to last at least two or three years, ended in three seasons. The Duchy of Taln was literally erased from the map. As agreed upon when the alliance was first formed, Cologne, which occupied most of the territory, officially declared the kingdom, and Adrian returned with only the valuable land bordering the Laurentians. The Kingdom of Cologne, which waged war under Adrian’s command, still doesn’t even spit on Lorentine. She heard that in that neighborhood, Adrian was treated like some kind of demon. The Laurentine Cavalry was notorious as a demonic unit that used teleportation techniques. Even if they win the war, it’s a mess… A grand victory ceremony was held for Adrian and the Laurentian army, who returned in time for this year’s national festival. At the ceremony, Adrian resigned. It was an expression of his firm will to never leave Midoc again. However, the King, who was pregnant, had no one but Adrian to take charge of state affairs for the time being. And he rejected his resignation. Shortly after the founding ceremony, the beautiful prince baby came with everyone’s blessings, and today, on the middle day of spring in the year 422 of the Lorentine calendar, the wedding of the king and the king is being held in a very grand manner.

Adrian, who was planning to prepare for the wedding as soon as he returned, looked anxious as our wedding, which had been postponed because of the prince’s birthday, was postponed again because of the king’s wedding. Even though she tried to console him by saying that she wasn’t going anywhere and that we could do it right away, he was chasing after his father with a face that looked like he was about to cry.

* * *

After the wedding and reception dinner, we returned to the count’s residence. He rides in the great carriage of the Duke of Bigor, accompanied by Adrian. He asked the butler who greeted him as he entered the mansion.

“Is your father back?”

The red-haired butler of another house quickly answered, overtaking our butler who was about to open his mouth.

“The Count has an appointment with some of his friends. He will return after dinner.”

The butler glared at Ethan indignantly, but Ethan didn’t care.

“What about your older brother and step-sister?”

“You two also said you were coming on a date.”

This time, Ethan quickly answered. The housekeeper looked uncomfortable when the player was taken away, but she just pretended not to notice because it was a scene she had been seeing every day since this spring. Adrian, who returned to Midoc, sat down at the house as soon as the founding ceremony was over. Then, the number of guests at Ethart Manor gradually increased. Even Duke Bigor’s butler, Ethan, has come to reside in the count’s residence, and as a matter of course, some of the knights are also residing in the annex. She was fine, but she just felt sorry that her new sister, Lady Dorote, seemed uncomfortable sometimes. While Adrian was away on a military expedition, his brother’s wedding took place, perhaps thanks to Ethan’s steady behind-the-scenes work. The wedding, which received the full support of the dukedom, was held in a very grand manner. Viscount Chenoa’s people who came from the estate were surprised by the scale of the wedding, which even included shooting off firecrackers.

Her father was staying at the estate for a long time, and she was planning to get married soon and move to the Duke’s residence, so she felt sorry for her newlywed brother and his wife that they decided to stay together at Count Ethart’s residence for now. However, as her wedding was postponed, her father became depressed, and as the number of guests in the Bigor family increased, she became reluctant to see her new sister. No matter how much she saw Adrian wandering around, the step-sister didn’t seem to be at all comfortable with the Duke. She was sorry for her sister in-law but Adrian followed Damian up as if it was natural.

“Ad, I’m going to take a shower and change. See you later at dinner.”

Adrian stopped just as he was climbing the stairs and looked up at her, whining, but she smiled sweetly and turned around. When she glanced back, she saw the back of the star heading towards the star annex and secretly laughed. She quickly changed her clothes and looked at the documents she needed to check tomorrow. She should finish it quickly and play with Adrian later in the evening. After going through the documents and going down to the first floor, Adrian was waiting for her. After enjoying a leisurely dinner just the two of them for the first time in a while, her father returned. He put down the tea he was drinking and went out to meet Adrian at the front door. She must have met him on the way, but Rutban and her sister-in-law were also coming in.

“Welcome.”

“Welcome.”

The three people who came in smiling brightly stopped when they saw me and Adrian standing behind me.

“Uh, um, yes, I’m back, Duke.”

“Okay, have you eaten dinner?”

Her father and Rutban stammered with embarrassed expressions, and her sister-in-law bowed her head deeply, unable to bear to be greeted by the Duke. She scratched her chin and saved three people from being greeted by the Duke.

“I’m just going up. See you tomorrow.”

And when she turned around, this time Adrian came up close behind her as if he wouldn’t fall. When she sat down on the sofa, he snuggled up next to her and was stroking her hand. She looked at it every day, but it’s still amazing. He kissed each finger one by one, and was about to put it in his mouth, so she thought she should stop him.

“Ah…”

“Yes, Damian.”

“I’m going to sleep now.”

“Then I’ll be back in a moment.”

“Today too?”

“Yes, today too.”

Adrian closed his eyes and smiled, then he let go of her hand and left the room. She organized the documents she had looked at earlier, put them away, changed into her pajamas, and lay down. Jenny covered the night stand and closed the window. As she watched him poop, his hand stopped locking his locks and he sighed.

“Is it today too?”

“Huh.”

Jenny, unable to say anything to her who was laughing so hard, unlocked the lock again. Then she said goodbye and left. After a while in the candle-lit dusk, the window quietly opened. And then Adrian came in. When Adrian first appeared outside her window, she thought she was going to pass out. She had seen Adrian casually jumping up and down the second floor terrace a few times, but her room was on the third floor! He was surprised and asked how he could get up to the 3rd floor, and he said that all he had to do was step on the railing on the 2nd floor terrace and run. What did that mean? She was so surprised when she jumped off the 3rd floor terrace that the person standing on the railing fell straight to the floor, and she thought her heart would fall along with it. His father jumped on the bucket after the pack screamed and there was no fuss. The next time, she held her heart and watched, and as it fell, she grabbed the second floor railing with her hand to slow down and landed very gracefully on the first floor.

So she just put it down. That person was not someone she could judge by her standards anyway. Well, Adrian, who flew in the sky again today, came into her bed. He must be tired as he has to go back to the outhouse before the sun rises. She had told him several times to sleep well, but he said he was comfortable with this, so what could she do? She took the familiar posture of cutting Adrian’s arm. She couldn’t even remember how she fell asleep alone last year. Now she really felt like she couldn’t sleep without this arm, and she quickly felt asleep, intoxicated by the familiar warmth.

And the next morning. They all went down to the restaurant to have breakfast together. As she took a seat on the chair Adrian had pulled out, her father, Rutban, and her new sister were sitting there with serious expressions on their faces. She started eating quietly, watching what was happening. My father looked at me and Adrian for a long time, then cleared his throat and opened his mouth.

“Demi, it’s your birthday soon.”

“Yes, father.”

“Yes, my daughter is already turning 20. So, Demi.”

When she tilted her head and looked at her father who was hesitating, he cleared his throat again, and Rutban narrowed his eyes and wrinkled his nose at his father. What else did they talk about last night? Her father, who shared a look with Lutban for a while, finally spoke.

“I wonder if it would be a good idea to have a birthday and a wedding together. What do you think?”

‘Yes? Dad, my birthday is only 17 days away? The maids are busy preparing for the birthday party right now. But a wedding?’

She glanced next to him and saw Adrian, with a calm face, clenching his fists on his thighs. She would rather cheer out loud. When their eyes meet, he smiles brightly. He seemed like such a conniving man.

“Father, isn’t the time too soon?”

“It will take more time to rain.”

When she spoke, Ethan, who had been watching while delivering food, urgently intervened.

“No, miss! Everything is ready! All you have to do is come!”

Her father burst out laughing, and Adrian averted his eyes.
