CHAPTER 5: HERE, NOW, AND YOU (XXIII)

Part 119

Time passed steadily. She was busy adjusting to her new job, and since she didn’t know when her father would ask her to come back, she squeezed sesame oil with Adrian from time to time, keeping an eye on him. And then, before she knew it, fall was gone. Today was the last day of fall, Princess Remina’s wedding day.

Jenny, now fully recovered from her sword wound, rolled up her sleeves and prepared to participate in her coronation ceremony. Anyone who saw it would think she was ascending to the throne. After coming home from work for a few days, she repeatedly felt drowsy, and her skin felt like some sort of charcoal. Very smooth, shiny and bouncy. She had been held by the maids since the morning, and as the departure date approached, Adrian, who became increasingly reluctant to be away from her, spent the day sitting quietly in her room and looking at her. While Millie was shining her shoes and Louis was putting away the cosmetics, Jenny, who was holding her head, said that she didn’t have enough bobby pins to fix her hair, so the Duke brought her some. Then, she stood next to Jenny and looked at her hair being fixed in fascination.

“Adrian, if you say you’re going on a mission tomorrow, don’t you need to prepare?”

“It’s possible.”

Said her boyfriend, who was always quick to answer. She really liked quick answers. That couldn’t be possible. The face she looked at through the mirror just looked happy. If you think you hear Ethan screaming, you might be mistaken. Jenny, who had finished fixing his hair, drove Adrian away. She firmly told her to go out because she had to change her dress, but Adrian, who had been ignoring her and saying it was okay no matter what she said, moved his body and went out at Jenny’s words. And as soon as she finished putting on her dress, there was another knock on the door.

Was there a notification system in this world that only she was unaware of? How did everyone know? Jenny, who had been walking around wearing only a rather simple commuter dress, seemed to be trying to relieve some of her accumulated resentment, but today everything from the dress to the accessories sparkled. Sue’s pink dress screams shalala with lace, and the hairpin and necklace were so brilliant that they make a statement. Surrounded by glitter, she was satisfied that she looked a bit shiny, but when Adrian came into the mirror she was looking at, she realized that it was shiny like that. They used so many dragons, but are they still there with only one face? Since it was her in the mirror looking at her with sweet eyes that seemed to melt, she just smiled.

Adrian, who was standing behind her and kissing her right shoulder, took her right hand, trapping her in his arms. He held her hand with both of his hands and wiggled something, then put the ring on his ring finger. Why didn’t Jenny put anything in his hand? Smiling, she looked down at the ring and saw a diamond so large that it took his breath away.

“My mother received it from her grandfather as a wedding gift.”

The Duchess’s wedding gift? If it was given to him by his grandfather, what about the king who preceded him? As he looked down at the peanut-sized diamond ring that belonged to the royal family, his hand was getting heavier, and Adrian was fiddling with her hand with a proud look on his face, as if he had everything in the world. A few days ago, when Adrian brought up the topic of an engagement ceremony, he declined, saying that the atmosphere in Midoc was still in its infancy. Laurentyne’s social circle was already all mixed up that I was Adrian’s fiancé, but she was the only one who didn’t know.

He obediently responded that he understood her rejection, but she guessed he was disappointed. But how did he come up with the idea to give her his mother’s ring as a gift and go? Even if she didn’t wear something like this, there would be no one who didn’t know that Adrian was hers. When she said thank you for having a pretty heart and a pretty ring, Adrian smiled brighter than the ring.

The main hall of the main palace, where the princess’s coronation ceremony would take place, was filled with nobles dressed as splendidly as she was. All nobles from all of Lorraine, excluding the northwest, which has not yet been organized, must have attended. Many congratulatory delegations came from neighboring countries, excluding the Duchy of Taln. Thanks to this, Laurel was so busy that she complained that she was dying. And, you look busy today, my poor friend. The other departments were all on vacation today and tomorrow, but Laurel, who was being held by people in fancy clothes, made eye contact with me and raised her hand in greeting. He greeted them gracefully and came towards me, but when I looked up close, his expression was rotten. When Adrian, who had greeted Laurel, left the room, Laurel grabbed her hand and said,

“Oh, Damian, thanks for showing up.”

“Laurel, you look busy, are you okay?”

“It’s not okay. Do you see that person over there? That idiot in the black cloak over there.”

“I don’t know the idiot, but I see him as a blonde in a black cloak.”

“He is the Grand Duke of the Duchy of Cologne, and he has been bothering people for the third day since he came as a congratulatory envoy for the coronation ceremony.”

Since he was the Grand Duke of an ally, he must be the highest-ranking guest among VIPs. Laurel was in charge of the Duchy of Cologne, so it seemed like she was always busy.

“If there is an event like this, the external affairs department is in big trouble. Do we have to keep following along and take care of it?”

“By the way, that idiot proposed to me.”

“What?”

Laurel sighed as she was startled. She thought that Grand Duke was about the same age as her father? Was his forehead more shiny than blonde hair? He seemed like such a person with no conscience. How dared he do anything to the pretty Laurel.

“It’s a marriage proposal, but it was half a joke and they rejected it, so it’s okay. They came to congratulate His Majesty the King on his coronation, so they’re not going too far, but the problem is not him, but someone else.”

“Why? Who else proposed?”

“That’s not it, the Grand Duke’s daughter came with us. She is, to put it nicely, a cheerful and curious person, or to put it another way, a tomboy. Ah, here she comes.”

Laurel was clearly looking at me, and I sighed, wondering how she had noticed the woman approaching from behind Laurel. Then he turned around and smiled like a picture. The diplomat version of Laurel is like this. The expression changes in an instant.

“Princess.”

“Lord Madeira!”

The person who approached with a wide smile was a beautiful woman with the same sparkling blonde hair and beautiful purple eyes as her father, the Grand Duke. As described, he was a person who looked energetic and lively.

“I’m sorry. I was with his friend.”

“Yes, this is my friend, Lady Ethart. Damian, this is Princess Irina.”

“Nice to meet you, princess.”

“It’s nice to meet you. There are so many beautiful women in Laurentine. The lady is so lovely too.”

“My, thank you.”

“I’m not just saying this, I mean it. Lord Madeira, this is heaven. I just saw a truly amazing, incredibly beautiful woman. I can’t believe someone so sparkling exists! Can you introduce me?”

Princess Irina clasped her hands together, her eyes sparkling. Laurel smiled and nodded with his fierce professionalism.

“Of course, princess.”

The two people greeted her and then walked away. The sight of the princess following Laurel, her blonde hair flowing, was full of excitement, so I was curious and watched the direction they were going. Oh my, what’s going on, that’s Homer. Unlike his usual appearance, he looks like a different person as he is dressed loosely and his hair is nicely combed. Doesn’t the gorgeous white coat look great on you? She could understand Princess Irina’s feelings. It’s so shiny. Both the princess and Homer have bright blonde hair, so when they are together, the surroundings become brighter. Homer, who was smiling at her embarrassed face, was already dealing with the princess skillfully. Oh, even your leisurely smile, Count, fighting!

They walked around the cheerful banquet hall, exchanging greetings, and quietly walked away from the crowd. The war was over, and everyone was at peace. They said it was only a matter of time, the few remnants in the northwest. On the contrary, the noble family members who wanted to use this opportunity to make achievements were burning with enthusiasm. There are more than ten lost estates in the northwest. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to obtain a new title, as the king had bestowed the duchy upon the earl. The war was not over yet, and she was the only one who was heartbroken. There was no need for a title or territory, and Adrian had to go on a campaign again tomorrow.

As she was looking down at the ring on her right hand, a large hand wrapped around her right hand. Then he lifted her hand up, kissed the back of it, and smiled.

“Have you said hello to all your friends?”

“Yes, Adrian.”

“Then is it okay for me to stay with you now?”

“Is it okay for Adrian to always be by my side?”

When she smiled, he smiled brightly again. The music echoing in the hall changed. The full-fledged coronation ceremony began, and Princess Remina, dressed in a royal suit, appeared, no, the King. Lorentine’s coronation ceremony, which takes place amidst the congratulations of the nobles, is led by a priest from the temple, and the new king swears before God to fulfill his duties as king and is crowned himself. Our King looked elegant and beautiful throughout the solemn coronation ceremony. She bowed her head deeply with sincerity and clapped with all her might. She didn’t like the lackluster crown prince or the crazy second prince, so the thought she had in her mind became a reality. For the first time, a woman ascended to the throne. More things would change now.

Lady Dorothee, who had begun a love affair with her boot van, declared that she would retain her magistrate post after her marriage, much to the delight of her best friend, Senior Tina. She also congratulated them profusely because they said they would become a couple that dominates the inner world. Laurel said she had no intention of retiring, regardless of whether she gets married or not. And so did she. The custom of female administrators studying hard, taking exams, working for a while, then getting married and then retiring will slowly disappear. She also heard that King Remina gave Lord Ban the surname Hestein. If the two of them get married, they would have a first husband who would take on the status of his wife.

Teacher Adol, whom she met not long ago, told her that the Laurentian title system would also change, starting with the radius. Maybe there will be a female countess and marquise in Laurentyne. How difficult was it for a woman to become a duke when the princess was on the throne? When she had a daughter, she would ask her if she wanted to become a duke. When something changed, the process was never easy, but it was still a very good feeling. Especially if the change was what she wanted and she contributed something to it.

She congratulated Her Majesty the King with a heart full of emotion throughout the coronation ceremony, and returned to the duke’s residence to prepare for bed, but where had all her swollen hearts gone? As she sat in front of the mirror and looked at her sullen face, she sighed. She couldn’t see Adrian off with a face like this, but even when she pulled up the corner of her mouth with her finger, her smiling face was just awkward. Adrian, who normally would have already been in her room by now and was crushing on her, hasn’t come. Earlier, at the main palace, she was having a serious conversation with people who she thought were soldiers even though she saw them for the first time, but was there still work left to do? She looked at the clock and saw that it was already twelve o’clock at night. Since he had to go a long way starting tomorrow, she thought she should let him sleep, so she kicked the internal strife. As soon as there was a knock on the door, the door was opened.
