CHAPTER 5: HERE, NOW, AND YOU (XIV)

Part 110

Adrian left the room, leaving Doyev, who was still cackling, and said to Thierry.

“Put him in a dungeon and spare his life. All you need is to be able to talk.”

He left the room and was about to walk away, but then stopped and asked Thierry, who was following behind him.

“What about Franz?”

“He’ll be chasing them.”

“Bring me Hennessey back alive. I’m going back to the mansion.”

At Adrian’s words, Thierry opened and closed his mouth and almost asked, “What will that guy do?”

Looking at Adrian’s back as he hurriedly climbed the stairs, Thierry pondered over Adrian’s words. If Hennessy is alive, what about Hegel? Unable to cut down his old comrade who had gone too far, nor to call his lord to kill him, Thierry headed to Mt. Sasos with a heavy heart. Meanwhile, a hectic meeting was going on in Remina’s office.

After receiving the call, nobles, including Duke Donovan, were quickly entering the palace one after another, and Count Madeira, who entered the palace with Lemina from the northern part of the outer castle, reported on the alliance treaty with the Duchy of Cologne. Ban was having a headache because he had to organize a capital army to guard the capital instead of a royal guard, and Homer was struggling with where to start with the piled up administrative problems. When the housekeeper’s room opened and Adrian appeared, everyone shouted in joy.

“Duke Bigor!”

However, Adrian approached Remina with a stern face and immediately asked.

“Where is the royal robe?”

“All the palace servants who remained in the palace returned to their respective seats. Wouldn’t it be in the royal palace of the outer palace?”

“I’ll borrow him.”

Then it turned around and disappeared like the wind, just as it had come in. Everyone looked at Adrian’s back with a bewildered look on their faces, then lowered their eyes back to the document they were looking at. The reason why Adrian urgently went to the doctor was obvious. Homer’s eyes wavered for a moment, but he remembered Damian, who had smiled at him and said he was a good person, and shook his head.

By her side, it was not her own place.

* * *

She was sleeping happily, but someone kept talking next to me. She felt like something was touching her face, and she wondered who was fighting. I’m so tired, but who was talking like this? She whimpered and barely opened her eyes to see two men arguing fiercely to the right of her bed.

“Oh, well, if you haven’t taken the antidote for three days, there’s no way you’d have symptoms like this. The poison of ‘Loplen Flower’ doesn’t end with this mild fever.”

“What about ‘black water’? Black water has a long incubation period, so symptoms of poisoning may not appear yet, right?”

“That’s right, but ‘black water’ is a poison that needs to be taken in small amounts consistently, and didn’t you say that the amount this person was caught with was about four holes?”

“If it’s not this or that, then what is it? Isn’t she obviously suffering from a mild fever?”

“So I wasn’t saying earlier that she was sick with a cold!”

What kind of situation is this? Why are two men in white clothes fighting in her room, making unintelligible noises? Isn’t that the person from the palace who treated Ailene? At the end of the bed, Millie and Louise were hugging Jenny, who was crying loudly, and in the other room, Ethan was looking at me, looking like he was about to die. And Adrian is also sitting next to me, looking down at me with an expression on his face. Why, what is it? Why is everyone like this again?

“Are you awake?”

“Yes. But what’s all this about?”

She asked as she got up, and Jenny fell at her feet and cried even louder.

“Millie, Louise, Jenny, I told you to stop me, but why are you doing that again? No, Jenny. What if the wound gets worse?”

“Now, am I the problem? Ugh. Miss, what should we do, my lady? I heard you took poison. Ugh.”

Eh? As Jenny, followed by Millie and Louis, burst into tears, Adrian, who was sitting next to them,’s face became more blurred. No, no, if this continues, her man will cry again.

“I didn’t eat it! I didn’t eat it! I didn’t take poison or anything! It’s true!”

As she screamed desperately and everyone stopped crying and looked at her blankly, the royal doctor raised his glasses and asked:

“Young lady, you have a slight fever right now. Are you cold? Do you have chills?”

“No. It’s a little hot.”

“I see. Your whole body will ache here and there, right?”

‘Oh my. How did you know that?’ Until yesterday, it seemed like an elephant was stepping on her, but now it looks like a baby rhino? Although it has improved a bit, she was still suffering from muscle pain all over her body.

“Yes.”

“You don’t have a headache.”

“No.”

“Are you saying that you can’t eat or that you feel sick?”

“No.”

“Did you enjoy your breakfast today?”

“Yes.”

“A cold makes the body ache, that’s right.”

The royal doctor gave her a firm diagnosis. Then Ethan stood behind her and joined in awkwardly.

“Are you sure? If you develop any other symptoms, the doctor won’t be able to live comfortably, so let’s take a closer look.”

‘Nope. Where is our butler going and is the local gangster here?’

“I’ve been looking at you for two hours already. There is no such thing as a poison that can keep you fine for three days without taking a detox system! How many times do you make me say the same thing!”

The royal family must have been quite upset, so they didn’t give up and fought back against the red-haired thug who seemed to be following them to the rooftop right away. Adrian, who had been silently looking at her forehead, quietly opened his mouth.

“It’s in front of the lady. Please refrain from making loud noises.”

When Ethan and the palace doctor fell silent at the same time, Adrian motioned to them, and the two doctors and a grumpy butler quietly left her room.

Jenny got up and asked again.

“Miss, are you sure you haven’t taken any rare medication?”

“Yeah, I didn’t eat it. Don’t worry, go and rest, Jenny.”

She answered with a smile, and only then did Jenny, half-listened to by Millie and Louise, leave the room.

Adrian asked seriously, holding her hand.

“They said they used drugs. Are you sure there is nothing else?”

“Hegel said that what he gave me was okay and that he didn’t take any poison or anything. I was also anxious, so I only took a small bite of what Hegel took. I was tired, but hey, it was worth it, right? I’m relieved because it’s not poison in the end.”

Adrian carefully touched her forehead once more and then hugged her. She obediently hugged Adrian and patted him on the shoulder, and he let out a long breath and rubbed his nose against her shoulder.

“Thank goodness, Damien.”

“The one who looks sick is Adrian. His face is very damaged.”

“I am okay.”

She was so happy to hear Adrian’s muffled voice raising the back of her neck. As she raised her arms and hugged his neck tightly, Adrian also wrapped his arms around her back and hugged her.

‘I made you worry again, but still, what kind of person is this bright after taking green medicine?’

The royal doctor said that he could just wake him up and ask. When did he get it? She was dumbfounded by his overprotection, but it felt real that she was back by Adrian’s side. If she tells him that it was too much to bring in a royal doctor just because she has a slight fever, he will reply with a serious face, “It’s not too much.”

As she laughed in his arms, Adrian held her tighter. It was an incredibly long week. She really, really wanted to see him.

“I missed you, Adrian.”

Adrian answered, hugging her tightly as if he was going to throw her into his arms.

“For the first time, I realized that a person could die because of longing.”

After holding on to Adrian for a while, who only said pretty things in a voice like a sigh, he carefully let go of her.

“You are acting as a housewife without even eating. I will tell them to prepare dinner.”

“Um. More than that, what time is it? Is it okay to stay here without going to the palace?”

When she looked out the window, the sun was setting. He couldn’t possibly have been next to her while she was sleeping, right? Wasn’t there a lot of work that needs to be sorted out? She asked because she was worried, but Adrian smiled and answered.

“It’s half past six now. Yes, that’s okay.”

“What happened to those bad guys?”

“We are tracking them.”

“Then what about Princess Remina?”

“She’s probably in an emergency meeting.”

What happened? The bad guys who ran away are being tracked, and there is an emergency meeting at the palace. ‘Shouldn’t you attend either one, Duke Bigor, Commander of the Capital Army? No, don’t sneak up on me again.’ She understands his desire to be by her side, and whew. It’s frustrating, and she really wanted to stick around, but she didn’t want to have to listen to the Duke who’s not doing his job because he’s messing around with his fiancee. By the way, how could she persuade this man, who was smiling brightly and has a face like a peony about to wither?

“…Have you eaten?”

“I haven’t done it yet.”

“Let’s eat, let’s eat.”

Adrian immediately got up and hugged her. She said it was okay and told him to get off, but he didn’t respond and just picked her up and went down to the restaurant. As if it had been prepared in advance, a table of soft foods that seemed to be eaten by patients with gastrointestinal diseases was laid out. Adrian, who was sitting next to me with the intention of spoon-feeding me, somehow finished dinner and looked at the clock to see that it was already eight o’clock. She wiped her mouth with a napkin and spoke seriously to Adrian.

“Now I’ll be resting again, so why not go to the palace?”

Adrian, who was coming towards her to pick her up again, looked at her with a face like a lost puppy when she said that. Her heart almost wavered for a moment, but she managed to pull herself together and looked at Adrian with a solemn face. Adrian, whose eyes were drooping, answered after a long time.

“I don’t like it…”

For the first time since she met Adrian, he gave her an answer that went against her wishes. She asked with wide eyes.

“No, I do not want?”

Adrian mumbled, avoiding his eyes, as if he couldn’t say no twice. Actually, she guesses he really hates it. She tried to coax him into sending him to the palace, but seeing him come out like this makes her feel weak. Actually, she didn’t want to let it go either. They’ve only just met, but he sat next to her and said he wanted to see her forever… eh, well, does the commander really have to go? It looks like there were members of the Birgo Knights at the palace, and the princess and Lord Homer are there too, so she guesses they’re doing it on their own? He must have worked hard so far, but will people criticize him if he misses a day?

She asked the last question, thinking that if he said he really didn’t want to go, she should just tell him not to go.

“You really don’t have to go there to catch the bad guy.”

“Yes?”

His eyes flashed menacingly in one moment, and the corners of his eyes drooped the next moment.

“If you take a break, I’ll take care of it quickly.”

She hurriedly stood up and followed him to the entrance. Adrian, who had hugged her in front of the entrance, sighed and fell as if he really didn’t want to go. What is it that looks her up and down and peeks into his coat pocket? This guy was a mime now? Surely that gesture doesn’t mean he wanted to put her in his pocket and go away or something? Even if he folded her horizontally and vertically 12 times, it wouldn’t fit.

“Come back, Adrian.”

She smiled and waved, and only then did he go out the front door. The front door closed, and she lowered her waving hand and reflected a little. Hennessy, Hegel, and the many problems within the royal palace that must have been a mess, none of it was easy or light, but wasn’t the send-off so refreshing? She couldn’t help it because she couldn’t even wave a handkerchief with a gloomy face and tears in her eyes. Actually, she wanted to follow along and see what was going on, but she couldn’t even say a word because she could see the whole house, including Adrian, jumping up and down.
