CHAPTER 3: YOU ARE QUALIFIED TO BE THERE (XXVI)
Part 065
It’s Monday. Today, strangely enough, she felt better in the morning. Her eyes opened brightly before Jenny came to wake her, so she got ready early and Jenny used her skills to make flowers out of her beautifully braided hair. The pure white blouse with lots of frills and the pink skirt with white lace decoration were also pretty. And during her training, she even received praise from senior Tina! She said that they had originally given her a portion that she could not complete by the end of her education, but she did not know that she would finish all but the rest of them, and praised them with a bright smile, which was unusual for her.
“Do you still dream of becoming the Minister of Finance?”
“Yes! It’s going to take a very long time, but I’m going to give it a try.”
“I see. I also learned a lot during the training period with the young lady. There are still two days left in the training, but the young lady will do her best even if she is assigned right away.”
“Thank you, senior. I will do my best!”
Senior Tina smiled and saw her off. Since you don’t have to go to the palace tomorrow, she should ask you to have lunch with me. She met Teacher Adol and headed to the palace early. Thankfully, she decided to have lunch with the princess again today. All last weekend, she gave up on dating and swept up all the details about Milena’s mansion sale. Considering the situation, she might have to get out of the palace early with Ailene. If this happens, she will definitely receive overtime pay from Homer. And from now on, she will have to live without even looking at institutions directly under the royal family. And finally, today, she can deliver good news to Ailene. Duke Nodoban said that he would personally tell His Majesty that we should go home without worrying, and that he would send a carriage to the entrance of the inner palace. If something goes wrong, she planned to bring him out, even if it means hiding it in my carriage. So far, no one has looked inside my carriage, but I have packed a large blanket just in case. She entered the palace, patting the soft blanket. At the entrance to the inner palace, she announced my entry to the guard soldiers, who were in full military command today, disarmed Franz as usual, and entered the Princess Le Mina Palace ‘Centrea’, feeling the pleasant autumn breeze. Autumn was in full swing, and the autumn flower, Centauri, was in full bloom with its blue color.
Homer had already arrived today. Homer, with an awkward expression on his face, also joined us for lunch. As if they knew that she has a sweet tooth, at the same elaborate lunch as last time, a generous dessert was served. She happily ate strawberry tart, drank tea brewed by the princess herself, and looked at his watch. She had already handed over the documents she had processed over the weekend to Homer, and she had also told the princess that she might not be able to return to the palace like this. They said it was 1 o’clock, so we can leave a little later. Today, even if he refuses, she will force him to come. While she was emptying her teacup with this thought in mind, the maids outside were making a fuss. It seems like you can hear screams from afar? A maid hurried into the drawing room where we were. She looked at me and then at the Princess and she said:
“The second Prince’s wife is looking for Lady Ethart…”
“Ailene came here?”
“Well, she showed up covered in blood, desperately looking for Lady Etheart, so what should I do…?”
What did he say? Covered in blood? She threw down the teacup, got up, and went out to the entrance of the princess’s palace. The princess, Franz, and Bu-Gyeong followed along. Ailene, who was barely standing in the entrance hall while being half-carried by a maid, sat down when she saw me. Her white inner dress, which she wasn’t even wearing, was covered in blood here and there. Why was she like this? What the hell is going on?
She ran to help Ailene, but she spoke in a hoarse voice that was unintelligible. The hand that was clutching my arm was covered in blood, so she didn’t know what to do, so she kept calling Ailene’s name, and then she grabbed my collar, pushed her face right in front of her, and screamed. Her cracked voice was grotesque, but the content was even more so.
“Run! The Royal Guard will come. If you are here to kill the princess, you will die too!”
What on earth does this mean? Why did the royal guard who protects the royal family kill the princess? Why was it like this? Sir Van bent his knees and sat close to her and asked in a serious and firm voice.
“Did the Royal Guard revolt?”
Ailene, still holding her collar, turned his head towards Sir Van and nodded repeatedly and shouted.
“They said they were going to attack me during the luncheon with the Queen. They will be here soon. Run away quickly. Please!”
Radius and Franz shared a glance for a moment and nodded. Radius was about to leave the front door to find out what was going on, but Homer ran out first as he followed him. As soon as Homer opened the door, an inspector dressed in black appeared from nowhere, gave a brief report to Homer, and then disappeared. With a stern expression on his face, he looked back at them and said,
“It is a rebellion of the 1st and 2nd Guards. The main palace is completely surrounded and we can’t do anything about it. They will come here soon, so be prepared.”
Radius gave an order in a shaky voice to the guards standing guard at the entrance to the princess’s palace.
“Assemble the entire 3rd Guards and bring them here, quickly!”
The guards ran out, and Homer looked at me as he spoke urgently.
“This is inside the inner palace, so it will be difficult to escape outside. The capital military will have noticed by now, so it is better to lock the door and hold on. It is better to take refuge in a place with no windows and a strong entrance.”
“A warehouse on the second floor would be good. The situation seems urgent, so we need to move quickly. Can you walk?”
Remina said, extending her hand to Ailene. After seeing the princess’s stern face, I finally came to my senses and stood up, supporting Ailene. The princess, who looked at Ailene’s pale face leaning against me and trying to move, began to take control of the situation in earnest.
“If half of the 1st and 2nd Guards turn around, what happens to the personnel?”
“There are 100 guards, and if you include the guards below them, there will be about 500.”
“There may be others in the 3rd Guards who participated. Even if there are none, it is difficult to turn the situation around with the 30-member 3rd Guards. We have no choice but to hold out as the leader said. We will crowd together our personnel and block only the incoming enemies. And leader, you must go. Isn’t there somewhere to do it?”
The princess looked at Homer and said, but he lowered his head and did not answer.
“If it is already out of control, the next target will be the crown prince. Only if he is alive will it be easier to make the next move. Don’t worry and just focus on your assigned mission.”
“It will be difficult with this number of people. I…”
“It’s noisy. If they’re over halfway and charging at you, it’s the same regardless of who is there. Move immediately.”
Homer looked at her and hesitated for some reason, but the princess firmly pushed him away. Homer bowed to the princess with a resigned look on his face and soon left the princess’s palace.
“Everyone goes to the warehouse. There, give the sword to Sir Franz.”
One of the guards handed Franz a sword, and after swinging the sword a few times, Franz approached Lord Ban and talked to him.
She went up to the second floor warehouse, laid Ailene down on the sofa, and the maids sat down neatly. As several maids stood next to the pattern holding swords, Teacher Adol, who followed them, clumsily tried to stand next to them with his sword in hand. However, Remina personally pulled out a chair for her and made her sit next to her. The group that inspected the condition of the warehouse gave a final report.
“Twenty of the entire 3rd Guards have joined us. We will block the area from the entrance to this door. No one will be able to get past this door, so please rest assured.”
“Minne.”
She bowed her head and walked out of the warehouse. She let go of Ailene’s hand and approached Franz. He said it as if it wasn’t a sword. Holding it in one hand, Franz separated.
“My lord, he always has amazing timing. He will be here soon, so please wait for a moment.”
“Sir Franz, you must be safe.”
“Of course. You and I will leave the palace safely. Otherwise, Jenny will kill me.”
She had nothing to say to Franz, who was smiling. Franz bowed his head and left the warehouse. And the door closed tightly. It was completely enclosed except for two small windows that could look out. She went to the side of Eilene, who was fainting and groaning, and Princess Remina was sitting on her chair with her table in front of her with an innocent expression on her face. The two maids got up, and she was pouring tea into a teapot that she didn’t know when she had brought it. Princess Lemina said to her, gesturing to her chair across from her.
“Come and sit down. This child has considerable medical skills, and will take care of Lady Donovan.”
While her heart was pounding, she was surprised by two things. Ailene was called ‘Lady Nodovan’. This was her title before her marriage to Dozern. The princess was thinking of separating Ailene from them. When she saw the approaching maid examining Ailene’s hands, she sat down opposite the princess. Warm tea fills the teacup. Her hands were shaking and she couldn’t even think of lifting the teacup. She spoke to the princess, who was not even the slightest bit agitated.
“You are a strong person. Your Majesty, indeed.”
“It’s not like that at all. I was just taught that royalty must be resolute no matter what. I only have one life, and the person I gave my heart to is in danger, so how could I not be worried?”
“You look so soft. My hands are already shaking like this, but you make something similar to a smile.”
She walked into a cave. The princess also smiled, her lips neatly blurred. Teacher Adol, who was sitting to her right, held her hand. He too had a determined face.
“Those who cannot protect their side with a sword must remain calm. That way, they can protect them with peace of mind. Isn’t the Duke also a soldier who will have to walk a dangerous path for the rest of his life? If I want to be with you, I will need to build up my acting skills.”
Even if you think about it a hundred times, you are right. He took a deep breath and forced his shoulders and back to straighten. Crying didn’t help. It was like that then too. Because of my concern, Adrian suffered injuries he didn’t have to suffer. If all you can do is not get in the way, you should do your best to do that. She reached out her hand and picked up the teacup. I was still trembling slightly, but after taking a sip of warm tea, she felt a little stronger. The princess looked at her with a happy face, and she gathered her strength and returned her smile. Adrian said he would be coming soon. There’s an uproar in the palace, and there’s no way Adrian doesn’t know about it. He must be running towards me with a very worried look on his face. He couldn’t face her with a crying face. The shouts of soldiers could be heard outside the window. They will trample on that beautiful garden and attack those who protect them. The sound of something happening began to sound in earnest. She hated herself for having no power. Her shoulders shrank again, but the princess looked at her and was still drinking tea with a stern look on her face.
‘Come to your senses, Damien. There is no place to run or the power to do anything other than a narrow warehouse with all sides blocked. Look at the situation. The princess, who is the one whose life is being threatened, is so resolute, and even her maids remain motionless, but it makes no sense for me to cry and make a fuss.’
Ailene also came running here with her body. Putting down her empty teacup, he walked over to Ailene, who was lying dead, and sat down next to her. Her handmaid bound her palm, which was bleeding profusely, with a cloth and returned to her seat. Her bare feet were a mess as she couldn’t wear her shoes. He seemed to have lost even more weight and blood than when I saw him last week. Her face turned black and her eyes were sunken, making her look like she was truly dead.
She thought strangely as she supported herself, but her stomach was so flat that she was lying on it. Just last week, she saw her holding her sizable belly, so it would be very difficult to think that this baby, who still has a long month left to give birth, would have given birth safely. What on earth happened in the past few days? Even though he was like this, he came running to her.
‘She told me to run away.’
She had to grit her teeth to swallow these tears.
