CHAPTER 3: YOU ARE QUALIFIED TO BE THERE (XXIV)
Part 063
Ailene sat down and wiped the cold sweat from her forehead. Even walking that long was now really difficult. Her lower abdomen felt tight from time to time. She rubbed her cold hands together to force some warmth and placed her hand on her stomach. It was you who was foolish and made the wrong choice. Even though her friend’s face was all stained with worry, her family and clan were in danger, and her head was blown off, she somehow managed to hold on because it was all his fault, but it wasn’t Eiilene. She couldn’t even jeopardize this child, who was struggling to grow in a body that was losing strength day by day. That afternoon, as she was basking in the afternoon sun on the sofa, stroking her round belly, Dozern, who she had not been able to see since her last outburst, roughly opened the door and came in.
“Ailene asked me with a sour expression on her face, and I said yes.”
“What?”
Dozern couldn’t bear it anymore and grabbed Ailene’s shoulders. As she was roughly lifted up by his strong hands, her headdress came off and her long hair fell down. She tried to free her hand, but she couldn’t.
“What are you going to say to Duke Nodovan? Are you saying you will betray me?”
“What do you think I’m going to say? That my husband is trying to harm my father? That the Second Prince Lorentine is trying to start a war? Who betrayed who! You tricked me into bringing them here and doing this to me? Are you making it up? You were the one who betrayed me!”
“What do you think will change the situation if I say something? Who deceived whom? It was you who said she would be queen. If you remain quiet, I will make you queen, so why do you want to step forward so recklessly?”
“Queen, queen, that damn queen. I’m sick of it! I won’t do it. I won’t do it. Kill my father, kill my friend, kill other people, and what can I do to be a queen?”
“This!”
Dozerne roughly pushed Ailene. He fell down on the sofa he was sitting on, hitting the armrest of his sofa hard. Ailene couldn’t breathe for a moment as a dull pain poured down her lower abdomen. Dozern’s harsh words continued to pour down on Ailene, who was curled up without even being able to scream.
“It was foolish of me to keep someone like you as the queen’s star. If you don’t like it that much, you don’t have to do it. If you’re so worried about your father, why don’t you run away? But that’s only after I ascend to the throne. With one face, it would be perfect to be a gravedigger next to your father’s grave.”
Dozern, who was laughing excitedly, saw red blood seeping down the hem of Ailene’s light yellow skirt. Ailene was curled up, her body trembling, hugging her stomach. Her blood continued to seep out. Only then did Dozern remember what I had done and took a step back with an embarrassed look on his face. He was prepared to do anything to become king, but he could not have imagined that a woman carrying her child would bleed. The blood continued to flow even as she stood there, not knowing what to do. Dozern, who had barely managed to straighten his steps after her retreat and left Ailene’s room, hurriedly looked for her backup. After meeting Dozern, who had run out of breath, the queen clicked her tongue with a sad look on her face at the news he gave her, and headed to the second king’s palace.
When Hubie arrived at Ailene’s room with graceful steps, the top and bottom of the sofa were covered in blood, and Ailene, unable to bear the pain, had fainted. The doctor who had been bribed in advance so as not to worry about leaking information arrived, and after bringing in a new sofa on the floor that had been cleaned of blood stains, Dozern and Veronica sat on the sofa. With Ailene lying with a corpse-like face on a bed with a canopy curtain across from the car, she continued speaking. When Dozern, absorbed in the story, raised his voice, Ailene, who had been suffering from pain as if her lower body was being ripped open, came to her senses.
Her lower abdomen was in so much pain, but she couldn’t move a single finger. She couldn’t even open her eyes. As she was just drooping and shedding tears through her closed eyes from the inexplicable sadness that came with the pain, she heard a voice.
“But I still have to hit Tyrellius’ head with my own hands!”
“Calm down, prince. If you end up stranded by the capital army, this is out of the question. The captain of the guard will be kind to you, so the prince should go to Boromir with this mother.”
“But my God, I really need to see him fall with my own eyes.”
“I’ll hit your head and tell you to get it, so don’t be stubborn. The trial will start next week, so that’s a good thing. It would be better to get out tonight.”
“Hong, you’re talking about assassination. If someone had wanted to assassinate someone out of fear, he would have died a long time ago, but they kept him alive, and you dare bring him to court based on nonsense?”
“Tyrellius, you can get rid of him at any time. The problem is Ortega IV. Dealing with the king and queen at once is the top priority. Since I have instructed you well, we will start with the main palace.”
“The same goes for other royals. Who knew that the princess would spread pumpkin seeds behind her?”
“Don’t worry, all hegemonies other than the prince will die. Now, what about tonight?”
If she wanted to move, she had to hurry.
“How’s things going on Taln? You said it was Monday, right?”
“On Monday, the king and queen will have lunch together. It will be the right time to kill them all at once. Don’t worry about Taln either. I’ll tell Lavernie to launch the palace right away. But… What are you going to do?”
“How can I take you to this situation? Well, I guess I’ll handle it myself. If I’m still alive when I return to the palace, wouldn’t it be okay to think about it again?”
“Okay. I guess I wasted my time because of that. I need to be careful so that the word doesn’t get out.”
“Didn’t the doctor say you won’t wake up like this? I’ll put you under surveillance and leave.”
“Okay. Let’s get moving.”
Dozern and Veronica left Ailene’s room.
The door was closed tightly, and two servants who knew nothing stood in front of the door after receiving orders. The second prince’s palace and the concubine’s palace were emptied without anyone knowing. The captain of the 2nd Guards personally opened the back door of the palace and saw the two off. Hubie held the guard captain’s hand and left Midock. Ailene was forgotten while Dozern and Queen Dowager agreed to stay in their room all weekend, and while her loyal but ultimately abandoned valet and her maids guarded the empty palace. Ailene crawled towards death for a long time, struggling with the agonizing pain.
She occasionally had her maid come in to check on her condition and pour water around her mouth. She opened her eyes and tried to say something, but she did not have the strength to move her lips, and her maids did not wait. At some point, Ailene came to her senses again and, after much effort, finally succeeded in getting up. Her whole body hurt as if she had been stepped on, and the pain in her lower abdomen was so severe. She took off the blanket and saw blood seeping out. She placed her hand on her flat stomach and realized that she had lost her child. In her pain-filled memories, there were harsh hands pressing down on her stomach and the screams of the maids lingering beneath her legs. While she was unconscious, she lost her child. She didn’t even know when or what day it was today. There was no way to know what happened to the lump of blood that her mother could not protect. Her head hurt like it was going to break, and she started crying again. She let out bright red sorrow and cried for a while, then collapsed again. She came to her senses again when she felt something cold on the corner of her mouth. When she finally opened her eyes, she saw her maid sighing in relief as she poured water into her mouth.
It had been a few days since the second prince had been out of the palace, and she was worried about cleaning up the graves in a palace without an owner. After all, wasn’t she the wife of the person serving her? She was worried that she would be angry if something went wrong because I couldn’t serve her properly, so she had been diligently feeding her water and heart since yesterday. Pushing up her eyelids, Ailene let tears fall again into her unfocused eyes. Her maid, who knew that she had lost her child, wiped her eyes with her cotton cloth out of pity. Ailene moved her hand and smoothed her empty stomach. She burst into tears again at the reality of what she had hoped was a dream. Ailene barely stood up with the support of her maid and let out a dry voice between her chapped lips.
“What day is it today?”
“It’s Monday, the 38th day of fall.”
The word Monday rang loudly in her jumbled mind. She thought she heard something. Monday. She thought something happened on Monday. After wandering around in her mind for a while, Ailene’s wide eyes widened as if they were about to pop out. She asked, grabbing the wrist of her maid who was supporting her.
“What time is it?”
“It’s lunchtime, ma’am. It’s past twelve.”
As she swallowed her breath, she burst into a coughing fit. Her maid patted the back of her coughing Ailene and held out her glass of water. Avoiding her hand, Ailene got off her bed. For a moment her knees buckled and she fell to the floor, then she stood up again.
“Ma’am, why are you like this? You need to rest.”
“Let go. I have to go.”
“He told me not to let you go anywhere. Don’t do this.”
Ailene snatched her glass of water from her maid, who blocked her, and slammed it against the post of her bed. Her shattered glass stuck in her hand, but she paid it no mind and held the large piece in her hand. Her flagship maid screamed at her and she backed away. As if threateningly, she thrust forward a piece of glass and Ailene screamed, her voice cracking.
“Whether I die or you die, I have to get out now. If you’re going to kill me, I’m going to stop you.”
“Princess.”
The maid, who had been looking at Ailene with a puzzled look on her face as she seemed to be out of her mind, flinched and retreated. As she went out, one of her attendants, whom she had summoned, rushed in, but it was up to him to stop it, as a high-ranking person threatened to spill her blood. The two princes, who had disappeared since last Friday, did not appear even on Monday. was not there She, along with a considerable number of her maids and servants, left the palace and did not return. A few of her co-workers, who were quick to notice her, did not show up this morning without telling her. When she looked into it, the only news she found was that he took a quick leave and returned home. Moreover, today the royal guards who were supposed to guard the prince’s palace were not even visible. She didn’t know what’s going on, and she didn’t know what to do when th lady, who had been so calm as if she wasn’t there, comes out here. She hurriedly walked out of her door, unable to stop or chase Ailene. The woman and servant looked at each other. She needed to report to someone and receive instructions, but there was no one there. Ailene, who had escaped from the king’s womb, moved with all his might. She ran with a limp, fueled by his frantically beating heart. Her feet were bare and she didn’t even have shoes on, but she didn’t have time to worry about this or that. She said it was Monday lunch time. Dozern would dispose of the king and queen, and kill all hegemonies. At the princess’s palace, her friend might be here.
