CHAPTER 3: YOU ARE QUALIFIED TO BE THERE (VXII)

Part 051

The first princess’s palace, ‘Centrea’, located in the deepest part of the inner palace of the Royal Palace of Laurentian, was a two-part mansion with a large garden. This small yet elegant mansion, said to have been built by the previous King for his beloved wife, was bestowed by King Ortega IV to his eldest daughter, whom he cherished the most, and was famous for having the most beautiful garden among other royal palaces in the Inner Palace. However, since the owner, Princess Remina, did not communicate with the royal family, enjoying the beautiful flowers that bloom every season was just for the owner of the palace, Princess Remina, her escort knight, and Ban, the captain of the 3rd Guards. It was only the ladies-in-waiting who had served the princess for a long time.

One autumn day when the clear sky was glowing red, after dinner, Remina was walking in her garden, her pride, as usual. In the well-tended garden, a colony of Centreas blooming profusely in the fall created a spectacular view. Remina’s reddish blonde hair blows in the wind as she walks through a field of blue flowers.

She couldn’t take my eyes off her and the intense color.

Although he was born from a commoner, he was a class that was selected into the Royal Guard at a young age of sixteen for only his skills. His breast swelled and he went to the palace, but when he was assigned to the 3rd Guards, which were in charge of the princesses’ aftermath, he knew that he had been chosen for propaganda. Compared to the 1st and 2nd Guards, the number of the 3rd Guards was absurdly small, and the recognition and treatment within the Guards were incomparable to those of the other Guards. The intention of the royal family in selecting a 16-year-old genius boy knight as a member of the royal guard was obvious and obvious, so any reverence for the king disappeared right away.

Until his retirement, he had no intention of being a playmate for the princesses. Then, he met a princess of the same age as him. As he came to understand what Remina kept in her deep, hot red eyes, Ban realized again what he had to raise his sword for. For ten years, the young knight who had been shunned by his peers became the captain of the 3rd Guards and the princess’s escort knight. The young girl with flushed cheeks bloomed beautifully as if she were about to fly away. The princess, with dark red blonde hair that resembled her mother and majestic red eyes that make the viewer kneel down, the princess who was cherished by her dad, Ortega IV, became one of the best marriages not only in Laurentine but also in the entire continent. But she shook her head.

Under the setting sun that began to set on her, she gazed at the red Centrea flowers, and as if something about her came to mind, Remina opened her mouth.

“Come to think of it.”

Her androgynous escort leader, who had been following her at a distance, closed the distance at once and stood right behind her, bowing her head. Remina bent down and plucked one of the Centreas. She then turned around and held it out to Ban, while saying in a very plain tone.

“I didn’t propose to you this week. Radiant, will you marry me?”

Although they come in every week, every time they hear it, it is a euphoric word, so Ban lowered his head even more. He couldn’t even dare to accept the flowers and only bowed his head deeply.

Remina looked down at the top of his half with an impermanent face. From her childhood, plagued by her mother’s family who somehow tried to take advantage of her, Remina learned to hide her expressions and spare her words. She hid herself from the public, and as she lived through the years, she was becoming more and more insensitive to her feelings. If there was only one piece of her heart that Remina couldn’t give up, it was her love for her loyal second escort knight.

“Please give me another order.”

The other person did not accept the only remaining heart. She had been receiving the same rejection every week for six years, and she hadn’t backed down from either the asker or the rejecter.

“I am already twenty-six.

“How can you say that? Take a great person as your sire.”

“Didn’t I say that I would give up if you chose your wife?”

Half unable to do that, swallowed his pain and just hung his head down. Even if he opened or closed his eyes, he could only see one person. Remina let out a little sigh and walked past the class with her head down to the palace. She couldn’t keep up, and stood looking at her back and half chewed her tongue. Even if she killed her heart every day, her persistently alive heart called out to her to hug her back even now.

Ban raised his unwitting new hand to caress her receding back, then dropped his hand and head together. In Lorraine, a wife takes on the identity of her husband. On a young day when he didn’t know what it was, he trusted his unmatched sword skills and boasted as if he had become something. However, at least he was a baronet. A false nobility who cannot even pass on a title to his children. But she was a princess. How could he dare to marry a woman who inherited a noble blood as the wife of just a Baron? After difficult steps, Ban followed Remina into the palace.

He did what he could as he stood behind Remina, who was quietly reading her book, laying down her hand-picked, and rejected, the Centrea flower on the desk in his office.

* * *

Around dusk, an unsolicited guest came to the princess’s palace without warning. After hearing Homer’s long report, Remina silently emptied her teacup. She silently set her glass down and then looked down at Homer, who sat prostrate. She had been seeing this man for a long time. He was the one who tirelessly smeared dirt on his body and wiped away the shadow of the royal family. Seeing Homer’s dead face after a long absence, she felt sorry for him.

He went out of the training ground with a clear face after half a bout of sword training, and after changing into a uniform, he was showing the same face.

“So, do you think a war will break out?”

Remina cut front and back and got right to its core. Homer laughed bitterly with his head down. There was a situation where part of the money had been leaked to the outside, so he wanted to bring in an outsider to investigate, so he only told her to be a blindfold.

“Did you know?”

“What do you mean?”

“The second queen was stealing money, and it flowed into other principalities.”

“How do I know what you can’t be sure of? Since last year, the royal finance officer showed me false documents, so I’ve been doubting it.”

“If you knew, why didn’t you tell me?”

Remina smiled faintly. It was a self-deprecating smile.

“What do you mean I should have told you, Captain?”

Excluding the queen who was eager to hide Tirellius’ infidelities, the father who was very reluctant to have the princess get involved in politics, and her uncle who lit his eyes and tried to drag her into the political arena, Remina had no one to rely on. Homer, fully aware of her circumstances, bit his lip.

“I knew Dozern would strike Tyrellius before the war broke out. Last winter was pretty heinous. Two variables brought the situation to a standstill, and in the end it turned out like this.”

Homer immediately understood the two variables Remina said in a casual tone as she filled the empty teacup herself. Last winter, unknown to the outside world, no, she concealed and covered herself, but the royal court was in a rather hideous atmosphere. The queen was preparing to assassinate the Crown Prince. It was currently unknown whether the king and queen were included among the assassination targets, but the atmosphere among nobles and aristocrats was unusually revolving around the Marquis Luther family. So, for a while, he closely escorted the crown prince. Then, at a banquet, he saw Damian for the first time.

It was the appearance of the ‘Queen’s Star’ and Adrian Bigor’s seizure of the capital that delayed the handshake of assassination of the crown prince. Even if the dangerous method of assassination was not used, a means to look forward to the throne by relying on fate appeared, and as long as Duke Bigor held the capital, the clumsy civil war became meaningless. If one was lucky enough to succeed in assassinating the crown prince and the King at once, there would be no way to block Duke Bigor’s capital forces and take control of the palace. While Adrian is holding out, there was no way that the royalist nobles would hand over the throne to the King.

There were three illegitimate children of Tirellius, whom Homer confirmed as paternity. The procedure would be complicated, but they knew that the only way to do it was to find a way, so they probably withdrew the assassination plan. After two breathless seasons, their patience ran out. As fundamental doubts spread about whether the ‘Queen’s Star’ required any conditions for exerting its power, or whether it really had real power, the side that had to take the throne even through war was again voicing.

Homer judged that she was long-suffering for a hot-tempered Dozern.

He knew that assassination alone was not enough to bring him to the throne, so he must be planning to throw the worst move, collusion with the Principality of Taln. The problem was, he couldn’t prove it. The King treated it as nonsense, and Duke Bigor seemed aware of the possibility and was conducting an investigation, but it seemed that he had no energy even to remove the ear wave that was deeply rooted in Midok and the capital’s military.

He still has a huge force to check, but if he acts recklessly, this side would rather suffer. Ortega IV acted as if he completely trusted Adrian, who defended the royal family by stopping his father, the former Duke of Bigor, but Homer was aware of the King’s long-standing inferiority to the Antalof hegemony and its lineage. In order to tie up Dozern, the queen, and the Luther family at once, confirmation was needed. It was unknown whether the first queen’s request for a trial for the assassination of the crown prince would be good or bad for them.

If you do well, it is a golden opportunity to beat them all at once, but it was also the same as giving the enemy who was still crouching a chance to rise. The time to bite and tear in earnest was coming. It was decided to enlist Damian’s help to sort through the blurry outlines within the tight deadline. And fortunately, he easily obtained the cooperation of Princess Remina.

“It’ll be a long time since I’ve seen the professor. I’ve asked him several times and he had refused, but you managed to get permission.”

“It wasn’t me, but Lady Ethard used her strength.”

“Ah, that young lady. She must have been friends with the professor too?”

“Yes, that’s right”

“I was surprised when I first heard the news that the Duke was dating, but I was even more surprised when I saw the two of them together last time. I did, but it worked.”

“She is an undeserved young lady for the Duke.”

At Homer’s answer, Remina widened her eyes and made a surprised face. Turning a blind eye, Homer bowed politely and withdrew. Homer’s face did not brighten as he fulfilled his precepts and escaped from the princess’ palace. No, he was rather depressed.

In this way, he met the one he was guarding, Tyrellius. Tyrellius was the one he wanted to protect from the crazy second prince who wanted to bring in foreign powers to attack his country, and place himself on the throne. Homer, who was shaking his head with a dejected face, looked back at the princess’s palace at a thought that suddenly passed through his head.
