CHAPTER 2: SPRING COMES TO EVERYONE (XVII)

Part 034

It was a great story that the leader of ‘The King’s Eye’ worked in an open place in broad daylight, even used medicines on people, and more awesome was that all of that was part of an important and urgent task. And it must have had something to do with the crown prince. It was said that what they were after was not Damian, but the young lady Eilene, so it must have something to do with the 2nd prince’s bizarre behavior. It was really fortunate that Damian wasn’t their target, but knowing that it happened to her made Adrian even more anxious. In the next few days, the fact that he wouldn’t be able to see Damian like this for a while made him even more anxious.

He’d like to keep her by his side if he could. Wouldn’t it be nice if she could keep her in a safe place and keep her all day, or cover everyone’s eyes so only he could see her. His hands were sweaty at the thought that something might happen in an invisible place. While drinking tea, he looked at Damian, who was lost in thoughts, and held back a sigh that was about to explode.

Hadn’t he been denied a courtship? If it was Damian’s personality, she wouldn’t want to be restrained even if she had a relationship or even if she got married, much less if they weren’t in a relationship yet. If he showed such greed, she would be rather wary. However, he couldn’t afford to be exposed without any countermeasures in the event of an emergency. It wasn’t that hard for him to come up with a strategy for any dangerous battle, but how hard was it to win this little woman’s heart?

Unable to get the words out of his mind, Adrian finally sighed.

“Why don’t you take an escort with you? I’ll attach Franz.”

At Adrian’s words, Damian widened her eyes. A man who worried too much would make her wary. In her mind, a mere reserve administrator who has no influence in the political arena, let alone a no military-related, did not need escorts.

“Ethard also has knights. Adrian. They’ll accompany me when I go outside.”

Looking at Adrian’s shadowy face, Damian closed her eyes and smiled.

“I know. I know, but it’s because I’m not at ease.”

The corners of his eyes drooped, and Damian smiled again. Watching Damian joke around, Adrian thought to himself that he should try to persuade Count Colin to join him for dinner at Ethard mansion tomorrow.

Ethan, who heard Damian’s story from Cale, immediately summoned all the members of the ‘Moon’ on standby. The royal inspector, thinking that he had safely escaped the commandant’s office, was sweating again when he saw the red-haired boy whose pale blue, gentle face instantly turned into a yaksha*, but he did not tell the truth. The tip of Adrian’s sword and the eyes of the terrifying red-haired boy were sharp enough to pierce, but if Homer, his immediate superior, found out about it, it would be a real big deal.

The red yaksha, which had been attacking with the force of torture, let him go while licking his lips with a face of great regret. While trying to send a message to Homer by having his men change his mind, he hastily left Midoc and went down to the estate of Talus.

The next day, Adrian and Damian, who went to work together, also left work together. Arriving home escorted by Adrian, Demian smiled awkwardly.

Colin Ethard welcomed Adrian with a fake smile. Colin was staring at Adrian as he emptied the plate with a satisfied face, and Damian emptied a larger amount of wine than usual while keeping her mouth shut with a much to say face.

Adrian asked to escort Damian to the Crown Prince’s birthday banquet scheduled some time later. It was around the time the conversation was over when Colin, ignoring Rootvan’s pouting lips, kindly agreed.

Adrian brought up the escort issue to Colin, who just nodded at Adrian’s words with a somber face, and asked cautiously.

“Has our Demi been exposed to dangerous things that require an escort?”

To that, Damian interrupted hastily.

“No, father. The Duke is talking nonsense.”

“No. I also heard about Marquis Talus. Demi, why didn’t you tell this father?”

“That, that wasn’t a big deal. It wasn’t anything to worry about.”

“I heard that the Duke has revoked his pre-administrative qualification. The Marquis of Talus has also been passed over by that point, but are you saying that it might happen again?”

Hearing it for the first time, Damian opened his eyes wide and looked at Adrian, and Adrian let go of his pretension and nodded his head at Colin’s words.

“The military training is over, so I can’t stand by her side anymore. If the Count allows it, I’ll have one of my subordinates live in the Count’s family.”

As Colin fell into trouble, Rootvan, who had been silent, intervened.

“The Ethart family also has knights. It’s not as good as the Bigor knights, but they can protect her. Being escorted by an unrelated family will make Damian’s position difficult.”

As Rootvan, who did not know what had happened between the two, wondered if Adrian had asked for a formal relationship, he was offended by Adrian, who was spreading rumors about his feelings and not asking for a formal relationship. Damian, who had already rejected Adrian’s dating, scratched her cheek and avoided his gaze, and Adrian replied with a bright smile.

“I’m trying to please Damian.”

Colin and Lootvan, who somehow couldn’t get used to Duke Bigor’s smiling face, guessed the situation after looking at Adrian smiling brightly and Damian acting indifferent. It’s not that he didn’t do it, it’s that she rejected him. Rootvan looked at his younger sister with a bewildered face, then saw Damian, who had been avoiding his eyes, suddenly face Adrian and smiled, and began to convince himself that it was only a matter of time, although it took a long time.

Meanwhile, Colin was worried that his daughter’s health might be in trouble. Ethart had been living around the county for a long time. It was eight years before Rootvan became an administrative officer that he entered the central political world in earnest. The Minister of Home Affairs, Duke Donovan, appreciated Rootvan’s ability and helped him get a position early in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Because of that relationship, the Ethart family took their place on the side of the pro-royal faction. However, he still did not actively engage in outside activities because he did not want to get involved in the political battle in the capital. Colin himself had spent more than half of the year in the County, and this time he was preparing to return before summer was over.

The county of Ethart, located in the middle of Laurentine, two days’ walk from Midoc to the west, had no need to raise military power because the northern boundary was made up of mountainous areas including mineral veins. Military clashes with foreign countries were the story of distant border areas, and the division of territory was completed long ago and the country remained peaceful.

Although there was an order of knights, it was insignificant compared to the knights of Bigor, and it is true that the count and his successor neglected the management of the knights because they were clinging to their desks. If something like this time with the Marquis of Talus, happened again, would he be able to respond well?

Most of the knights, including the captain of the knights, were staying at the estate instead of the lord who was away, so Colin shook his head after thinking about the few knights who had accompanied him. He judged that no matter what happened while he was away from Midoc, it would have to happen to Damian, who was wearing the Duke’s knight. It was Colin who seemed to be pretty to the Duke because the Duke seemed serious about his daughter. Having concluded, Colin opened his mouth.

“If you do, I will be grateful for the Duke’s consideration.”

Unexpectedly Colin allowed it, Damian rolled her eyes at Adrian, who smiled widely, but when she looked at him with a smile on her face, he couldn’t help but laugh together.

That’s how Count Ethart cleared an empty room. Most of the young ladies-in-waiting reacted with blushes in anticipation to the news that a knight would be dispatched from the Knights of Bigor, but Jenny, who did not like Adrian, grumbled without Damian knowing.

* * *

The same was true of the Bigor Knights, who were full of anticipation when the news reached them. Since rumors about the master’s heart had already spread, everyone was greedy for escorting the young lady who might become the future Duchess. When Ethart officially announced that Franz had been selected for the dispatch, Franz clenched his fists and cheered. And he had to suffer from the grumpiness of his senior knights for a while.

One day, when Franz was about to go to Ethart, George, who had returned to the Duke’s residence after a long absence, heard the news and called Franz to the training ground.

“One.”

“I will go!”

Franz lowered his upper body, making ninety degrees with his elbows. His chin, dripping with sweat, touched the floor.

“Two.”

“Even if it’s scary.”

He straightened his bent arm and lifted his upper body. His arms trembled, but he managed to straighten them. However, the push-ups of the Bigor Knights were not the end of the two.

“Three.”

“Sign, I’m lucky.”

“This wretch!”

He lifted his body, clapped his hands, and returned to his original position. Sweat dripped down.

“Isn’t it hard? It’s easier if you give up. It’s hard, so stop. I’m going instead because you’re afraid it’ll be hard?”

“It’s not possible!”

George, sitting cross-legged on Franz’s back, tried to make Franz give up, but he did not give up. Thierry and Hegel, who were watching, tried to stop them with giggles, but they didn’t seem to be serious.

“Hey, stop it, stop it. I’m going to catch the baby. I’m getting tired.”

“What do you trust this guy to send him to? He didn’t even know that his lord followed him and left scars on his body.”

“Ugh, no! I can!”

“I’m going to cry. Stop it.”

Looking down at the well-shaven back of Franz’s head, who was unwilling to give up even with his trembling arms, George tucked his tongue and came down.

“Why does my master only like this guy? I can do a better job escorting the lady.”

“I hear you’re busy working with the King’s Eye on the moon. And I’m the perfect escort for the lady?”

“Ughhhhhhhhh!”

This time, Hegel sat on Franz’s back. Thierry stood up and grabbed Hegel by the back of his head, feeling sorry for Franz who was about to cry. Spreading out on the floor, Franz groaned. As Hegel grumbled along with George, Thierry asked the back of the fallen Franz’s head.

“Why don’t you change it? You have already seen her. I’m just curious.”

Franz, who had been groaning without moving, jumped up.

“No! I will go! I will definitely protect her this time!!”

Thierry clicked his tongue at the sight of Franz, whose face was drenched in sweaty sand and his eyes were wide open. Franz, the heir to a wealthy viscountcy, was impressed by Adrian and threw away his title and family to catch up with him.

Franz was chosen as the young lady’s escort again just like the last time because he knew the basic etiquette of a noble family and was the same age as Damian. The other knights, who secretly soothed Franz, who cried and blamed himself for not even understanding the situation in which his master was injured, even though he followed Adrian, cheered him up with half grumpiness and half teasing. At the bluff that he had no qualifications to escort the young lady at this level, Franz fought with all his might.

Franz, who had stiff shoulders and trembling arms, but had no intention of giving up escorting the wise, beautiful, and kind lady Damian, grumbled as he watched the backs of George and Hegel as they left the arena. laughed

The next morning he went to Count Ethart’s. After that, he continued to protect the young lady and lived in the Ethart family. At night, moon standby personnel will come out to reconnaissance and surveillance, but anyway, it’s considered degrading to act as an escort for the lady.

But not to escort the lady who would become their mistress.

Franz smiled happily as he packed a large sack containing the knight’s uniform and cloak, which had been washed and ironed stiff with a hot iron yesterday.
