**Special Chapter 1**
“Good morning.”
Even though she knew nobody was at the office yet, Sua greeted the empty room as she turned on the lights. The stillness inside was chilling. After pouring herself a warm cup of tea, she hung her coat on the chair and took her seat. Then, she retrieved a notebook from her drawer and picked up a pen.
“Phew.”
She let out a long exhale and began her busy day.
The date from yesterday was Thursday, February 13th.
“What happened yesterday?”
Sua immersed herself in her thoughts while glancing over the notes she had jotted down summarizing what she had dealt with yesterday. Dr. Hwang Shin-young had visited and discussed a new book concept, and then…
Square by square, she meticulously recorded the meeting details, her reflections, and the additional tasks she needed to do.
It had been two years since Sua joined Yoon Dam Publishing. She had assisted other editors and proofreaders, and after her probation period, she had even had several books she planned published. Now, she had become quite a respected editor.
Since joining Yoon Dam Publishing, Sua had developed a habit she never missed once. She arrived at work 30 minutes early to write her work journal from the previous day. Nobody told her to do it, but it helped her organize her thoughts and often proved helpful for future tasks, so she never skipped it no matter how busy or tired she was.
Also, Hyun-oh always drove Sua to the office on his way to work. Considering his commuting time, leaving 30 minutes early was just right.
Today, she was meticulously writing as usual. A low voice sounded in her ears.
“Miss Han Sua, what are you doing?”
“Oh my.”
Perhaps she was too engrossed in writing her journal. Sua, who hadn’t noticed the approaching person, flinched when they suddenly appeared. Startled, she looked up to see Yoon Dam, the CEO of Yoon Dam Publishing and a writer, smiling warmly.
“What a surprise. Good morning, sir.”
Sua greeted him with a bow after putting down her pen.
“Good morning. But isn’t it too early to start work when there’s still a long time left?”
“Oh, yes. I like to come a little earlier to prepare.”
“You’re a great employee to come so early.”
“Thank you.”
Most of the employees at Yoon Dam Publishing had been with the company since its founding. Sua felt inadequate compared to other more experienced colleagues, so she had to work even harder. She was also married, which was arranged by Yoon Dam and her friend Chaeyoung to avoid suspicion.
“But you’re still lacking.”
“Miss Sua, you’re doing well.”
Yoon Dam smiled gently.
Yoon Dam was not only the representative writer of Yoon Dam Publishing, but his books always ranked high on the bestseller lists of major bookstores. Some countries even bought the publishing rights before the book was released due to his popularity. And it wasn’t just because his writing was excellent; his handsome appearance also played a part. He skillfully utilized his media-friendly image to promote his novels.
But today, his face looked different from usual. It was pale, and there were deep bags under his eyes. His fatigue was evident.
“But you’re here early too, sir. Aren’t you tired?”
Recently, he had been working on a new novel. He had left most of the company work to other employees and focused solely on writing for a long time. Yoon Dam weakly smiled.
“I finally finished yesterday. Or should I say, today.”
He glanced at the clock.
“About an hour and twenty minutes ago.”
“Ah, you’re done? Congratulations.”
“Thank you. After finishing, I thought I wouldn’t be able to sleep anyway, so I came here to do some work.”
“You must be exhausted.”
“It’s okay.”
Yoon Dam replied briefly and looked at the notebook Sua was writing in.
“What’s that? A diary?”
“Oh, it’s more like a work journal than a diary.”
Yoon Dam’s eyes twinkled with curiosity.
“A journal? Who asked you to write a work journal?”
“Oh, nobody asked me to… I just wanted to. I started doing it after I joined the company.”
“I see.”
Yoon Dam’s eyes sparkled with interest.
“If you don’t mind, can I see it?”
