She Was Sent by God

SWSBG Chapter 39

Agnes frowned and indirectly told him that he did not have to come to the territory, but Eugene pretended not to hear it.

Instead, he occasionally stuck by Agnes’s side and casually talked about things she didn’t ask.

“How long do you plan to stay at the estate, Wizard?”

When Laslo came, he stared at Eugene with a fierce look.

He deliberately intervened between Agnes and Eugene.

“I don’t know. I’m someone who’s just wandering around anyway, so time doesn’t matter.”

“Don’t you need to consider the perspective of the recipient as well?”

“The princess definitely said it’s okay to stay as long as I want. Right?”

With a charming smile, he winked one eye. Agnes nodded absentmindedly.

It was impossible to discern Eugene’s true intentions.

He only said, “Take responsibility of me.” and just came around without a detailed explanation.

Reluctant and without the power or justification to refuse, Agnes reluctantly accompanied Eugene on the way back to the estate.

“Welcome, Master. Madam.”

Upon arriving at Estar Castle after a long trip, the servants who had been contacted in advance welcomed the couple in the territory.

Niall approached as a representative and bowed respectfully.

“Anything special?”

Laszlo asked as he stepped down from his horse.

“Nothing, well, actually there is one thing.”

Niall’s expression subtly changed.

“Why? What’s wrong?”

“There’s something you need to see.”

He led the Duke and Duchess to a small garden inside the castle.

“Why here?”

Agnes looked around half-heartedly.  Nothing particularly stood out.

“There was no one in charge of this garden, so the crops didn’t grow well. However, we happened to harvest some potatoes here not long ago.”

Niall showed Agnes and Laslo the potatoes he had prepared in advance.

“These are potatoes?”

Laslo asked in surprise. It was quite extraordinary.

Potatoes from the territory are generally smaller than adult women’s fists, but what Niall brought was much larger than Laslo’s fists.

That wasn’t all.

It’s hard to see five potatoes running at one root, but the number of potatoes in front of them was far more than ten, including the small ones.

“What’s going on?”

Joy and wonder arose simultaneously on Laslo’s face. Niall hesitated unexpectedly.

“Well, you see…”

“What on earth have you created?”

“Uh, a, a fever reducer.”

Adrienne replied with a flushed face, fidgeting her hands while carefully observing Agnes’s reaction.

Agnes burst into laughter when she heard her answer.

“What? Fever reducer? If you put something like a fever reducer, will potatoes grow like that?”

The whole story of the incident was like this.

As the hospital stabilized, Adrienne locked herself in her room, determined to develop a new medicine.

As her money was overflowing, she bought plenty of ingredients.

However, no matter how many experiments she conducted for developing new medicine, she failed repeatedly.

At the same time, her room was filled with failed creations.

Upon hearing from a maid that a strange smell was coming from Adrienne’s room, Niall went to her room.

– What is this smell?

– I…… I’m developing medicine.

– Medicine? Mold is growing, and the rotten stench is nauseating.  If someone survives after taking this, it would be a miracle.

He said sarcastically.

– ………….

– I will clean up this mess.

Adrienne couldn’t argue that it wasn’t a trash.

Niall called a servant to dispose of those things in the garden within the castle.

What he didn’t know was that someone planted potatoes in advance in the garden.

As spring passed, the potatoes began to grow rapidly at an astonishing pace, even earlier than the usual harvest time.

“You really don’t have much talent as an herbalist.”

Considering that Elemer’s original purpose was immortality, it was quite amusing that the created medicine turned out to be completely different from the original intention.

“I-I’m sorry.”

Feeling dejected, she bowed her head deeply.

“No, no. What do you have to be sorry for? I’m rather thankful.”

Agnes grabbed her hand.

“Keep researching. Make whatever you want, whether it’s fever reducers or cold medicine. If you need anything, just tell Niall anytime. Got it?”

Agnes spoke in the kindest voice she could muster.

“Thank you, Madam!”

Only then did Adrienne smile brightly.

“Do you remember the composition of that fever reducer you made? Have you recorded it?”

“Oh, yes. I’ve kept records of each experiment.”

“Okay. If it’s okay with you, let Niall know about it.”

“Of course.”

Adrienne smiled brightly and nodded.

After she left, Niall came and made an overall report.

While Agnes left for the capital, the clinic ran smoothly.

Although there were occasional disturbances, they were not difficult problems to solve.

Thanks to this, the number of people coming into the land has increased significantly.

The once overflowing empty land was gradually diminishing, and it was predicted that there would be no more unused land left by the end of the summer.

“Oh, by the way, the wizards will be coming soon. Could you arrange a place for them to stay?”

“What? Is there another wizard coming besides the one who came with you?”

“Yes. They’re going to arrive one by one.”

“How many of them?”

“Hmm. About 11?”

“Eleven? Eleven wizards?”

Niall’s eyes widened to the maximum capacity.

Wizards are very rare.

There is no place where more than 10 wizards are gathered.

“What will they be doing in our estate?”

“They’re going to do something very precious. So, be careful not to cause any inconvenience to them.”

A smile that couldn’t be hidden appeared on Agnes’s face.

Just the thought of the wealth they would bring made her heart flutter.

“Yes, understood, Madam.”

Niall bowed his head politely.

“I have one more thing to tell you.”

“Go ahead.”

“It seems like we need to build another warehouse because the current one is full.”

“Hmm? Didn’t I instruct you to build an additional one before heading to the capital?”

She recalled giving him the directive due to the lack of space to store gold coins.

A faint smile appeared on Niall’s lips, trying to maintain his composure.

“Yes, you did ask for a warehouse to be built, but it’s already full, so we need to construct a new one.”

“I see. Instead of another warehouse, let’s build a new building this time. So when the wizard comes, there will be no problem with the warehouse.”

Niall nodded enthusiastically with a happy expression.

“We’ll proceed as you’ve suggested.”

“And about the fever reducer Adrienne made…”

“Yes? Wait, that was a fever reducer?”

Niall’s expression subtly changed when he heard that it was a fever reducer.

“That’s what she said.”

Agnes shrugged her shoulders.

“A fever reducer…”

He looked quite surprised.

“Since Adrienne will share the formula for the fever reducer, have it made and distributed to the estate residents as soon as possible. I wonder how it will affect the wheat, if potatoes grew that much.”

“Yes, understood.”

He gave a light bow and left the room.

Niall is more capable than she thought, which is fortunate.

He handles any task quickly and without complaints, which inadvertently increased his workload.

Agnes had been catching up on the backlog of paperwork for a while when she heard a sound from behind and finally stretched.

“Ask the Duke if we can eat together.”

“Let’s do it. Princess.”

His muffled voice came from above. Agnes raised her head in surprise.

“When did you arrive?”

“Just now.”

He frowned when he saw a desk full of documents.

“Take a break.”

“I can rest later.”

Agnes nonchalantly replied, pulling the documents back towards her.

“No, stop. Aren’t we going to have a meal?”

Laslo firmly took away the documents.

Agnes looked at the taken documents with a bewildered expression, then straightened up and stood up from her seat.

“They said you’ve been looking at documents every day since returning from the capital.”

The two walked side by side to the dining room.

“I’ve been away for more than a month, so I’ve got a lot of work to do. In addition, the wizard will come soon, so there’s a lot to prepare. Adrianne’s fever reducer ……..”

“Princess.”

Laslo cut off her words.

“Do you sleep at night?”

“Well…”

Agnes avoided his gaze and evaded the question.

In reality, she had been dividing her sleep time to review documents due to the overwhelming workload in recent days.

“Of course. I’m sleeping well.”

“Why does the princess’ maid complain to me?”

It seemed like Ney had been busy gossiping lately. Agnes quickly changed her stance.

“Well, I’ve been sneaking in some sleep when Ney’s not around. There must have been a misunderstanding.”

“I’ll come to the Princess’s chambers tonight.”

Agnes stopped walking down the hallway and looked up at him.

“Tonight?”

“Yes.”

“Finally?”

“Huh?”

Laslo stopped opening the door of the dining room and looked at Agnes. The man and woman locked eyes for a long moment.

Laslo, who belatedly realized what she meant, waved his hands in embarrassment.
