She is the Escape Boss [Quick Transmigration]

Promoting Science In The World Of Supernatural (3)

At this time, no one in the feng shui community has noticed the new ghost app in the software mall.

Even the app’s creator, Lin Xiaotang, didn’t take it seriously.

Lin Xiaotang turned around and went to buy a few books, including “The House Manual” and “Detailed Layer-by-layer Explanation of the Gyrocompass.”

She intended to study feng shui in the coming days and then update the APP with a function that can survey the house’s feng shui.

Her APP will appear more practical this way.

Lin Xiaotang has high hopes for the “Ghost” app, and not just because she wants to make a difference in the world.

And partly because of her mission to save the world.

This time, her task object is Xu Junran, an ancient monster who has lived for hundreds of years.

No one knew his background, and the heroine could only learn that he had spent decades as a monk in a deserted temple and was a devout Buddhist.

Those masters of metaphysics are more or less arrogant in this world, as a very small number of people with special abilities, with extremely obvious symptoms of the Chunibyo disease.

Xu Junran was no different.

The main reason he became the villain was because he had a very grand dream—

He wanted to exterminate all ghosts and monsters and save the world.

Xu Junran, like Lin Xiaotang, believes that everyone in the world is suffering and that there are too few people who can help them.

To that end, he hopes to eradicate all ghosts from the world and completely eliminate them.

The plot provided no explanation for why he had such thoughts.

But, because his methods were too extreme, he eventually became the main antagonist, completely opposed to the heroine.

After all, ghosts’ existence is complicated.

Some ghosts act recklessly and cause harm to ordinary people, while others seek vengeance because their lives were too miserable.

Lin Xiaotang’s job is to get him out of trouble and grant his wish.

However, because of Xu Junran’s paranoid personality, she avoided approaching him.

It is preferable to divert rather than block. Because ghosts exist in the world, they cannot be completely eradicated.

The consequences of Xu Junran’s rash actions can only be self-inflicted.

Instead of attempting to eradicate ghosts, it is preferable to arm ordinary people with proper ghost knowledge and empower them all to fight back against ghosts.

However, the functions of Lin Xiaotang’s ghost app were still too basic for the time being.

You can only watch ghosts unless you live in a haunted house, in which case you may see ghosts several times a year.

Furthermore, her APP’s introduction was also very boring, consisting of only one sentence – it can make you see ghosts.

At first glance, this type of introduction is deceptive; who would believe it?

Who would want to download such an app unless they are extremely bored?

Lin Xiaotang didn’t expect much value to be created with this idea in mind.

Anyway, after a long time, all of the functions she desired were updated, and someone will always recognise its worth.

……………………………

But what Lin Xiaotang didn’t expect was that there were far too many boring people in this world.

As soon as the ghost app was released, some netizens who were adept at discovering new software unintentionally discovered this one-of-a-kind app.

“Can make you see ghosts”?

This introduction appears to be very interesting.

They became interested and downloaded it out of curiosity.

Lin Xiaotang predicted that after the first try, most users didn’t see the ghost with the camera and couldn’t find any other functions, so they ignored the app as purely amusing and uninstalled it.

However, a small number of people have had some exciting adventures thanks to this APP.

One of them was Li Qi.

It was the third day after his grandmother died when he discovered this ghost app.

To keep his grandmother’s spirit alive, he sat alone in the mourning hall, playing with his phone in every way imaginable.

Then he came across this app.

Unlike most curious users, Li Qi was deeply moved by the introduction of this APP.

Even though he knew the app was probably a joke, he couldn’t stop himself from downloading it.

His grandmother, who had always loved him, died of a heart attack three days ago.

Grandma was still standing in the kitchen in the morning, smiling lovingly and saying, let him go home early today, but by night, she had turned into a cold corpse.

Li Qi was unable to accept this fact. He still had a lot to say to his grandmother, and he couldn’t bear the thought of losing her.

As a result, Li Qi was uncontrollably shaken after seeing this APP.

Doesn’t this imply that the soul will return to the body within three days of death?

Perhaps he’ll be able to see Grandma?

Li Qi finally pressed the “download” button with this thought in mind.

However, once the download was finished, Li Qi’s impulse faded and his reason returned.

He still felt a little silly thinking about his entranced behaviour right now.

How can there be ghosts in this world?

If there are, what kind of cow’s tears should I use, or should I ask Mr. Yang Ming to open his eyes to see ghosts?

Using a mobile app to detect ghosts or whatever… This is overly scientific.

Forget it; he didn’t need this information anyway.

It is acceptable to use this APP for psychological comfort.

Li Qi opened the ghost app, activated the camera, and pointed it at grandma’s coffin.

He was then taken aback.

He could clearly see a dark figure standing next to Grandma’s coffin on the screen of his phone!

But, in reality, he looked with his own eyes and saw nothing!

He took a deep breath and approached the coffin with caution.

As he got closer, the shadow’s appearance under the camera became clearer and clearer—

Definitely his grandmother.

It was his grandmother, from the appearance to the standing posture to the extremely familiar expression.

She appeared to have discovered that Li Qi could see herself. Grandma raised her head in surprise and looked at Li Qi.

Her eyes were still loving, and her tears couldn’t stop falling before Li Qi could be shocked or scared.

“Grandma…” he stammered, barely speaking.

Grandma smiled at him, nodded, opened her mouth, and called out his nickname.

In his spare time, Li Qi spent a long time chatting with his grandmother via the APP’s built-in dialogue function.

I have expressed everything, from interesting things that happened to me as a child to regrets that I haven’t been able to express.

During the conversation, Li Qi realised that his grandmother’s every move in the camera was identical to that of a living person.

She was aware of their shared experience. She had a strong local accent. Even though her face was pale, her love for him remained.

Grandma’s figure became increasingly shallow as it approached dawn.

“Honey,” grandma gently said, “grandma is leaving; you must work hard in the future and have fun every day.”

She returned because she couldn’t stop worrying about her grandson.

It was time for her to leave now that her regret was complete.

“All right, Grandma.” Li Qi nodded earnestly, tears welling up in his eyes.

The grandmother’s figure in the mourning hall vanished before his eyes.

After regaining his strength, Li Qi felt an inexplicable excitement surge up as he stared blankly at the empty mourning hall and then at the screen on his mobile phone.

The announcement of this APP was true!

It turns out that he can see ghosts through it!

No, such a wonderful thing must be shared with others!

In such a mood, Li Qi quickly opened the APP’s rating area and gave it a perfect score.

Then he went onto Weibo and began writing about his experiences and stories one by one.

As a result, after the “Ghost” APP was released, it not only did not drown in the Internet’s ocean, as Lin Xiaotang predicted.

On the contrary, it created a small wave.

On the seventh day it was on the shelves, Lin Xiaotang, who was busy working in her study, received a call from an unknown number.

“Hello, Ms. Lin, we are members of the national special department,” the other party said, “And I apologise for bothering you. Please excuse me, but did you create the ghost app that was recently released in the software mall?”

The person on the other end of the phone sounded at least thirty or forty years old, but when he faced Lin Xiaotang, who was in her early twenties, his demeanour was solemn, and he was even willing to address Lin Xiaotang honourably.

However, it was discovered that the country still had special departments in this world?

“Yes, I did it,” Lin Xiaotang admitted, “but what do you have to do with me?”

“We want to work with you,” the other party said. “Your accomplishments are extremely valuable to our country and have the potential to save countless lives. Of course, we will not dismiss your accomplishments.”

In a world where metaphysics and ghosts exist, the country will, of course, establish special departments to deal with these supernatural occurrences.

It was unfortunate that the country had so few people with special abilities, and the remuneration that the country could offer was insufficient to impress these masters.

In their eyes, simply setting up a feng shui array for a wealthy businessman or creating some life-saving charms to drive away ghosts could earn them millions of dollars.

Their lives will be very leisurely on normal days, and people will hold them in high regard wherever they go.

Under such conditions, who would want to work as a civil servant, which is difficult, exhausting, and poorly compensated?

The national special department currently had only seven or eight employees.

The majority of them volunteered to serve the people with zeal.

But it was unavoidable that these people would be insufficient to deal with the supernatural events sweeping the country.

What made them even more uneasy was that most people were unaware of the existence of ghosts and had no idea how to approach them for assistance.

And Lin Xiaotang’s ghost APP can be said to have captured the country’s attention in an instant.

Even if its functions were still insufficient at the time, its potential was almost limitless.

They did not hesitate to come over after investigating some users’ comments and confirming the effect of the ghost APP through experiments.

“We are willing to provide you with all the convenience and assist you in promoting the APP for free,” the other party stated sincerely, “Would you like to cooperate with us?”

Collaboration with the state?

Lin Xiaotang agreed without hesitation: “All right.”

Comment

  1. Time to teach these exploiting masters

  2. PaNi says:

Once again the author approach the typical trope with such a different but very logical pov. I’ve been so used to read about ghost-hunting hero/heroine earning millions while doing so little. The author pointed out the flaws so matter-of-factly the hypocriticalness of these so called masters.
