Chapter 1

“Hng… Uhp.”

Moans spilled relentlessly between their locked lips—all of them from Kang Hoon.

The fierce kiss soon broke. Taemi pulled her lips away and looked up at him. His burning, amber eyes questioned her:

Stop?

Kang Hoon’s pupils wavered like a creek struck by a stone, rippling with shock. His lips remained parted, unable to close as he stared at her, transfixed.

A shiver ran through him when he saw the raw desire in Taemi’s gaze.

He’d been on the receiving end of admiration before, but never such naked hunger.

The possessiveness in her eyes was overwhelming. His heart pounded violently, breath hitching in his throat.

Chewing his scorched lower lip, Kang Hoon slowly shook his head.

No.

Flustered, he lowered his lashes to avoid her stare—only for Taemi to crash their lips together again.

“Hh—”

Another moan tore from him.

The sensation of having his lips sucked was indescribable.

And the worst part? It felt good. For the first time, he understood why couples couldn’t keep their hands off each other.

Just as his fingers timidly grazed the millhouse wall behind him, something hot and alive invaded his mouth.

Taemi’s tongue.

It glided through him like a minnow exploring newfound waters, bold yet innocent.

“Nngh…”

His mind fogged over as she tangled her tongue with his, coaxing it to follow her rhythm like seaweed swaying in a current. He was suffocating—yet he endured.

No, worse: he’d happily die like this. If this was the reward, he’d kiss her for hours. Days.

Electricity prickled through his body.

Just as he sank deeper into delirium—

“Kyaaaak!”

A shrill scream echoed from the mountain behind the mill. Taemi flinched, breaking the kiss.

Cold night air rushed over Kang Hoon’s swollen lips.

“D-Don’t… mind it,” he panted, voice trembling with lingering heat. “Just… a deer.”

Taemi looked up at him, dazed. The desire that had darkened her eyes moments ago was gone, replaced by panic.

She stepped back. His heart plummeted.

“What the hell did I just do?”

After a long silence, Taemi finally muttered, brows furrowed in disbelief.

The abrupt shift left Kang Hoon frozen. He could only stare, bewildered.

“I’m insane. Insane.”

Biting her lip in embarrassment, she met his eyes.

“I’m sorry, Kang Hoon-ssi.”

Her flawless honorifics stabbed his chest like a dagger.

“Ha. I’m impulsive, but I’m not this reckless. Why would I…?”

She wiped her smudged lipstick like a criminal erasing evidence.

“I got carried away. Your confession—it excited me. I lost myself in the moment.”

The heat in Kang Hoon’s body drained away. Veins bulged on his hands, still braced against the mill wall.

“I should’ve held back. I don’t know what came over me.”

His mind went blank. The sky might as well have collapsed.

“I’m truly sorr—”
“Enough!”

Kang Hoon’s shout was sharper than betrayal festering for a century.

“I… I—!”

He’d been flung from heaven to hell in seconds.

“It was my first time!”

He squeezed his eyes shut, howling. His first kiss. The lips he’d saved for someone he loved—

And what? Stolen on a whim?

Taemi’s eyes and mouth flew open.

“F-First?”
“Ha.”

A bitter laugh escaped through his fingers.

“Yes! First!”
“But how…?”
“Hard to believe, right? A pretty, sexy city girl like you—men must line up for you. You’ve probably dated plenty.”

That’s why you kiss so skillfully. Why your tongue unraveled me like magic! The words burned his throat.

“I’m leaving. I need to be alone.”

Grief choked him. His heart tore to shreds.

He hated himself for trusting her. This would haunt him forever.

Leaving Taemi stunned, he turned weakly and opened the mill door.

Never trusting a woman aga—

Taemi yanked his arm, spinning him back.

“Is it true?”
“What now?”
“Was it really your first kiss?”

He glared.

Why does it matter?

Her wide-eyed stare infuriated him. God, he hated her.

Taemi held her ground, demanding an answer.

Finally, Kang Hoon nodded—miserable, wretched.

“Happy now? Then I’ll—”

His words died as Taemi slammed her lips against his. Shocked, he braced his arms against the doorframe.

She kissed him deeper, pushing him inside. He resisted.

No. No… No—

But his grip slackened. His body swayed like seaweed under her tongue’s mastery.

Taemi seized the chance, dragging him in and kicking the door shut.

“Crash!”

Kang Hoon stumbled over rain buckets and stools, still locked to her lips, until she shoved him onto the bed.

“Ah—Taemi-ssi! Wait…!”

He fell back, eyes wide with panic.

Pulling away, Taemi gazed down at him with blackened desire and whispered:

“Just a kiss. That’s all.”

His lashes fluttered. His heart threatened to explode.

Fiddling with the rose-patterned blanket, his trembling hands betrayed him.

“R-Really…?”
“Just a kiss. Promise.”

Taemi cupped his face, lifting it.

“Hng!” A whimper escaped him.

“Don’t you trust me?” she murmured.

His flushed face shook in a weak no.

“Ah—!”

With a nudge, Kang Hoon toppled onto the bed like scattered petals, a cry tearing from his throat.

Taemi stared down at the massive, trembling man squeezing his eyes shut.

How did this happen?

Even now, she couldn’t believe it.

Two months ago, she’d never imagined finding a man like this—handsomebroadthicksexybrilliantshy, and gentlemanly—in the ass-end of nowhere.

As she leaned in again, memories of Suchang-ri flashed through her mind.
