Chapter 2
In the blink of an eye, Wen Qingchen had captured the last person tormenting them.
Wen Qingchen was covered in blood from head to toe. At a glance, under the thick malevolence, there was an eerie feeling as if the Grim Reaper had come to claim lives.
“Don’t kill me! Don’t kill me!!” The person fell to his knees, terrified to the point of wetting his pants, staring at Wen Qingchen with a mix of fear and shock, as though he had seen a demon.
Wen Qingchen pressed a dagger against his carotid artery and asked in a cold tone, “Who are you?”
Finally able to control this body, Wen Qingchen felt an exhilarating sensation. However, after waking up, her memory seemed to have a gap, and she didn’t know what had happened.
The man hastily shouted, “Miss, please spare me! It was Third Master who ordered us to do this! I have nothing to do with it, Miss, please spare me!”
Third Master.
Wen Qingchen’s starry eyes darkened.
This Third Master was her father’s younger brother.
She had crossed over here several years ago, and her abilities hadn’t awakened until now. Her body was weak, so she had chosen to live quietly in the background, but she had always been well aware of the happenings around her.
Her father was a famous physician in Tang City, running the Wen Divine Clinic, where countless people sought medical help every day. Her third uncle’s medical skills were second only to her father’s, and there had always been a trace of jealousy between them. However, they were family, and no one had explicitly said anything about it. She couldn’t have imagined that he harbored such resentment and would harm them!
Wen Qingchen’s intent to kill grew stronger, and with a stern face, she asked, “Where is this place?”
The man quickly replied, “This is an underground chamber beneath the medicinal fields outside the city!”
Having received the answer she needed, Wen Qingchen showed no mercy and knocked the man unconscious. She also disabled his hands and feet.
After completing these actions, she wiped her dagger clean and placed it back in her belt before walking towards Wen Huanzhi.
“Brother, are you alright?”
Wen Huanzhi’s expression changed, and he eagerly grabbed Wen Qingchen’s hand. “Qingchen, do you recognize me? Can you speak?”
Wen Qingchen looked puzzled. “You’re my brother. How could I not recognize you?”
After listening to Wen Huanzhi’s account, Qingchen finally learned what had happened during the time she had fainted.
It seemed that she had fainted due to her supernatural abilities about to awaken. However, she thought she had merely fainted, but to others, it appeared that she hadn’t fainted; she had suddenly become foolish.
Every day, she remained in a daze, like a fool under the influence of the Evil Consort, only capable of silly smiles.
The one who had fainted was her soul, about to awaken with supernatural abilities. Her body hadn’t actually fainted.
During these two months, many things had happened.
Her father had died unexpectedly. Her older brother had taken over the Wen Divine Clinic, and to cure her, he ventured deep into the mountains to search for medicinal herbs. Unfortunately, he fell from a cliff, narrowly escaping with his life but with both legs broken. It was likely that he would never walk again, having missed the ideal treatment window.
At this very moment, their third uncle, who had been eyeing the Wen Divine Clinic and wanting to take it for himself, couldn’t hold back any longer.
The true Wen Divine Physician had already passed away, leaving behind a fool and a cripple. Without any hesitation, he drove them out of the Wen Divine Clinic.
And then, he brazenly took over the Wen Divine Clinic, laying claim to the name of the renowned divine physician that their father had spent over a decade building.
Wen Huanzhi gritted his teeth and said, “Our third uncle always believed that the reason our father’s medical skills surpassed his by so much was because our grandfather passed down a medical book to our father, not to him. So, he imprisoned us here, strictly prohibiting any torture, all to get information on the whereabouts of that medical book.”
Wen Qingchen asked, “Brother, is it true that your fall off the cliff was an accident?”
Talking about this, Wen Huanzhi’s eyes became as venomous as a poisoned snake. “On that day, I went into the mountains with Wen Zicheng, he was the guide. I found a herb on the cliff that was just right for your condition and decided to rappel down to pick it. Little did I know he would cut the rope, causing me to fall off the cliff!”
Wen Qingchen’s eyes gleamed with a chilling intent. Wen Zicheng was her cousin, the son of their third uncle.
Wen Huanzhi clenched his fists. It took a great effort to restrain his overwhelming anger. “I barely survived, climbing back up from the bottom of the cliff, it took me a whole month. I wanted to confront them and demand an explanation, but they had somehow found a person who looked exactly like you. That imposter claimed to be you and declared that he had been cured by our third uncle. He said our third uncle’s medical skills were even superior to our father’s. The clan elders then appointed our third uncle as the clan leader.”
“Someone who looked exactly like me?” Wen Qingchen narrowed her eyes. While there were many people who looked similar in the world, it was hard to believe someone could look exactly like her.
Could it be a disguise?
“Yes,” Wen Huanzhi said with bitterness. “That person impersonated you, enjoying the reputation of the former daughter of the Wen Divine Physician. He even became engaged to South Gong Family’s South Gong Yan. When South Gong Yan came for the engagement, there was a grand ceremony with red lanterns lit for miles. All of this… fell into the pockets of those thieves!”
The Wen Divine Clinic, its reputation, its profits, everything that had been rightfully theirs was now stolen. Yet, they, the siblings, were trapped in this dim dungeon, unable to do anything!
Wen Qingchen took a deep breath and said, “Brother, rest assured, we will reclaim everything bit by bit. For now, let’s get out of here. We never know when they might send more people. Perhaps our third uncle thinks that dealing with a fool and a cripple doesn’t require too much manpower. That’s why they only sent five people here. We’ve already dealt with four in the dungeon, and there’s one dozing off outside. Without a second thought, I knocked him out and took him with us, with you.”
During this time, Wen Huanzhi had seen Wen Qingchen’s adept martial skills, and he looked a bit puzzled. His sister had always been physically weak, but she had never displayed such skills.
She was stupid for two months and suddenly became good at martial arts?
