Wen Qingchen had a vivid memory of Yin Chenming.
Back when she had first escaped from Tang City and taken refuge at Qingcheng Temple, she encountered this man wearing a silver mask during her first herb-gathering trip. He had been drugged with an aphrodisiac, which made the incident particularly memorable.
From the very first moment she saw him, she knew this man was no ordinary person. That was why she had lured him to her third uncle at the Wen Medical Clinic. He probably figured out her identity back then.
So now, when she saw him again, her first thought was: Could he be here to get treatment for *that* problem?
She really didn’t want to be a doctor specializing in men’s issues!
Yin Chenming, dressed in all-black attire, exuded an intimidating aura. When he heard Wen Qingchen’s words, the temperature around them seemed to drop several degrees, making the air feel chilly.
“I have something to ask you.” He ignored the woman’s cheeky comment, abruptly demanding, “Answer truthfully.”
Wen Qingchen let out a chuckle.
So he wasn’t here for medical help.
She clasped her hands behind her back and leisurely looked at the strange man in front of her, who was much taller than herself. “Sure, go ahead. I’ll answer anything you want to know.”
Yin Chenming spoke in a deep voice, “Earlier in the clinic, you mentioned Changbai Mountain. Where is it located?”
Wen Qingchen raised an eyebrow. “You’ve been in the clinic for a while, haven’t you?”
As she spoke, she discreetly studied the man in the mask.
Yin Chenming’s voice was low, making it sound pleasant to her ears and even a bit familiar, somewhat resembling Brother Yin’s voice, but not quite the same. Moreover, she had just casually mentioned Changbai Mountain and Shennongjia in the clinic. If this masked man had been there earlier, it wouldn’t be surprising if he was curious and decided to ask about it.
She asked casually, “Why are you looking for Changbai Mountain? What’s your reason?”
Yin Chenming replied, “To find someone.”
Wen Qingchen probed further, “Who are you looking for?”
Naturally, Yin Chenming wouldn’t reveal the whereabouts of the communication stone, especially since this woman had a very peculiar energy about her.
He had seen it with his own eyes—this power could completely suppress the aura of evil spirits and the undead.
Yin Chenming coldly stated, “Corpse ghost.”
Wen Qingchen was a bit surprised. The term “corpse ghost” was a general term in this world for all kinds of supernatural entities. In other words, this man could either see or sense the bloodthirsty ghost that had possessed the young master of the Zhang family.
And now, he was asking her about Changbai Mountain… Could it be that he heard her mention that many supernatural events occurred at Changbai Mountain and Shennongjia, and now he wanted to investigate?
Wen Qingchen relaxed.
It seemed this man wasn’t Brother Yin after all.
Wen Qingchen suddenly understood. “I see. But unfortunately, I really don’t know where Changbai Mountain is.”
Yin Chenming’s deep, unfathomable eyes stared at her intently. “You do know.”
Wen Qingchen shrugged. “I truly don’t. I’ve only read about that place in ancient texts.”
Yin Chenming continued to stare at her in silence.
Wen Qingchen blinked, looking very innocent as she said, “Honestly, do I look like someone who would lie? I’ve read about many strange place names in those ancient texts—Shennongjia, Kowloon Pond, Linsian City, Mount Tai, Mount Huang… Isn’t it strange? A mountain that’s yellow? And Changbai Mountain—is it a long, white mountain? Anyway, I’ve never been to any of them.”
Behind his mask, Yin Chenming’s sword-like brows furrowed as he considered the truthfulness of her words.
Among the places she mentioned, he was only familiar with Linsian City. Mortals couldn’t see Linsian City because it was a spiritual place, visible only to those with spiritual power. Could it be that Changbai Mountain and the other places she mentioned were also spiritual locations, like Linsian City?
Thanks for the chapters!
Were these places names mentioned before? I don’t remember and it sounds like she’s talking about places from her original world – are they also in this world?
