Wen Qingchen’s mind raced.

She carefully recalled seeing the little girl Lanlan last night. Other than being somewhat thin and malnourished, she was relatively healthy. She really only had a cold; taking some medicine and reducing her fever would have cured her.

With her healthy body, there was no possibility of sudden illness, and the herbs her brother selected for the cold remedy didn’t contain any allergens.

How could a healthy person just die like that?

Aunt Zhang glared at her fiercely, “Impossible! My Lanlan was perfectly fine when she came home yesterday! After taking your medicine, she died! If it wasn’t your medicine, what else could it be? Her body is still at home! You’re a quack… You have no medical skills at all! Give me back my Lanlan’s life!”

Even though it was morning, the queue outside the Wen Clinic was always long. Many people came early to get a chance to see the renowned doctor.

Since this was a common occurrence, there were many Tangcheng locals around. Many knew Aunt Zhang and had seen her take Lanlan into the Sai Huatuo Clinic yesterday. Hearing Aunt Zhang’s accusations, the crowd grew fearful and angry.

“A doctor who can’t even treat a cold properly? What kind of quack is this!”

“Exactly! Luckily, I didn’t go to that clinic yesterday. I’d rather wait in line here than risk going there. Who knows, I might have ended up dead too!”

“Look at how young and arrogant he is. Does he look like a compassionate healer? I think Aunt Zhang is right. Lanlan must have been killed by their wrong prescription!”

The crowd’s words were like a tidal wave of accusations, making it seem as if they had witnessed the truth of the matter. They all blamed Wen Qingchen and decided never to visit her clinic.

Wen Huanzi staggered back a step and quickly said, “Impossible! I personally prepared the medicine. The prescription is right here. You can take it to any clinic to verify it. There’s no mistake in the prescription!”

His greatest fear was that his precious little sister would be denied a chance before she even began. It would be near impossible for her to establish herself in Tangcheng afterward.

Aunt Zhang, however, was relentless. “Sure, even if the prescription was correct, what if you took the wrong herbs? Otherwise, how could Lanlan die? Are you saying I killed my own daughter?”

At this point, Aunt Zhang began wailing again. “Everyone, listen to this! They killed my child and won’t admit it… They’re trying to shirk responsibility! My poor Lanlan, you’re so young… How can I, an old woman, bury my child?”

Wen Qingchen’s eyes were cold. “You say your daughter died from taking my medicine?”

Aunt Zhang declared, “Yes, it’s you!”

Wen Qingchen coldly replied, “Since my defense is useless, I must prove it myself. Where is Lanlan’s body? I need to examine her to determine the real cause of death!”

Upon hearing this, Aunt Zhang’s eyes flickered with hesitation, and her crying paused. “She died from your medicine. What more is there to check? You… you want to desecrate her body?”

Wen Qingchen scoffed. “As a doctor, observation and examination are essential methods. One look can reveal what illness someone had or how they died. If it turns out she did die from my medicine, I’ll give you my head.”

Aunt Zhang was intimidated by her fierce tone.

Wen Qingchen coldly asked, “So, where is the body?”
