“What does Lanlan want help with?”
Before Qing Chen could ask, Aunt Zhang roughly yanked Lanlan’s hand back. “No manners, who allowed you to grab randomly?”
Then she turned to Qing Chen, “Thank you, doctor, but we have matters at home, we need to leave now.”
Her words carried gratitude, but her eyes showed no sign of it, even some impatience, and she left with Lanlan.
Just before leaving, Lanlan turned back to look at Qing Chen, her big eyes seemingly glistening with tears.
Qing Chen instinctively took a step forward, saying, “Auntie, Lanlan is just a child, and now she has caught a cold. Please try not to scold her; it will help her recover faster.”
Aunt Zhang paused briefly, leaving a quick “Got it.” and hurried away.
Qing Chen watched her drag Lanlan away without regard for whether Lanlan could keep up.
She sighed.
Wen Huanzhi noticed, “Chen’er, why are you sighing?”
Qing Chen withdrew her gaze and said, “Just now, that mother and daughter…”
“Hmm? What about them?” Wen Huanzhi was busy with herbs and didn’t pay attention.
Qing Chen shook her head, “Forget it, it’s nothing. If we talk too much about how others discipline their children, they might dislike us for it.”
Perhaps it was a good start with that mother and daughter; after they left, a few more people came seeking medical help one after another.
They were all minor ailments, and Qing Chen handled them easily, giving each a few patches of medicine without charging any money.

There weren’t many people anyway, so it didn’t cost much.
But the fact that so few people came to see the doctor worried Wen Huanzhi about whether they could make their money back.
“Not many people are coming now,” Qing Chen comforted him. “But don’t worry, brother, it will get better day by day. Today three came, tomorrow it will be five. Once the patients I’ve treated are cured, more people will come!”
Wen Huanzhi sighed, “You, not worried at all.”
Qing Chen shrugged, she was indeed not worried. If they ran out of money, she would simply take her brother and travel the world, catching ghosts everywhere. How could they not make a living?

The five patients Wen Huanzhi had hoped for did not come, but instead, they were met with a farce.
The clinic had just opened when a middle-aged woman threw herself at the entrance, crying and wailing—

Wen Huanzhi, still using a cane, almost fell over from her assault. He was caught in time by Qing Chen, who came out after hearing the commotion.

Qing Chen’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Impossible.”
The medicine given yesterday was for a cold and a chill, personally prepared by her brother, and there couldn’t have been a mistake. How could Lanlan die after taking it?
