Portable Space: Little Miracle Doctor

Chapter 8 – Discovery of the Portable Space (I)

While Yan Xiaosi planned her next meal, she walked toward the baizhu with its withered flowers. She picked them carefully and put them aside.

There were a bunch of seeds in the withered flowers. The baizhu seeds were about the same size as melon seeds. They could be stir-fried. Though not as delicious as melon seeds, they were at least edible.

Yan Xiaosi was starving again. As long as something was edible and tasted better than those wild vegetable buns, it was a treasure for her.

Ahh!

She suddenly felt pain shoot through her right index finger. She hissed lightly through the corner of her mouth. Looking down, she saw that her pale finger had been stabbed by a thorn on the baizhu. Blood dripped out.

She was the youngest of the family, so her whole family cuddled her. She did the least work. As a result, her skin was also the most delicate of them.

The thorn had stabbed deeply into her finger. She endured the pain as she pulled it out. The blood started flowing more rapidly.

Since her body was already malnourished, she started feeling light-headed as she lost more blood. The sight in front of her became blurry.

She couldn’t let herself keep bleeding like this. She had to stop it immediately.

She remembered that her big sister had given her a tattered rag when leaving that was in her right pocket. She hurriedly reached in. But before she could find it, she touched the jade.

The blood had dyed the jade without her knowing.

She couldn’t see it, but when her blood came into contact with the jade, it actually absorbed some of it.

After absorbing a few drops, the green jade emitted a dazzling green light in her pocket.

At that moment, she was struggling to find the rag. Seeing the piercing light, she quickly closed her eyes.

When she opened them again, the baizhu in front of her had disappeared.

Not only did the baizhu disappear, but everything in front of her had changed. She wasn’t even in Four Sisters Mountain anymore.

The place she ended up was an open red sand field. Looking around, the area was around half an acre. In the middle of the sand was a spring. Water continuously poured out. Next to the red sand field stood a two or three-story tall building.

Even from a distance, she could smell the refreshing spring water.

When she was walking in the mountains before, she didn’t see any fresh water. But smelling the refreshing scent of the spring, she suddenly felt parched.

“This spring water should probably be free of poison.”

Yan Xiaoshi was a genius in the 183rd Brigade. Not only was she an expert in medicine, but she was also proficient at using poison. She could even shoot and fight. It was probably because God envied her talent that she died so young and ended up as a fake boy in the wild west of the Great Chu.

Lying on the edge of the spring, she carefully smelled the spring water and determined that it was non-toxic. Only then did she cup some with her hands and drink a few mouthfuls.

The spring here was sweeter than bottled spring water.

A moment ago, she was so hungry that she felt her front and back stuck together. Yet, after a few mouthfuls of spring water, her stomach stopped screaming.

She touched her full stomach and laughed. “I didn’t expect that the spring water here would satiate my hunger.”

I hope there are people living in the building. I need to figure out what kind of place this is and how I can leave.

I always wonder how people have a conversation in Mandarin. There are sooooooo many homophones.
    Baijiu = Chinese Moonshine
Bai Zuo = White Lefty an insult or accurate description take your pick.
Bai Zhu = this herb, I had never heard of before.

You’d expect people to periodically need to reset the conversation to deal with drift.
