Chapter 74 – The First Time Condensing Divine Sense
Yan Xiaosi didn’t know what the black-tailed snake liked to eat, so she went to the grain warehouse and randomly grabbed a handful of rice, throwing it into the basket through the gaps. After that, she didn’t bother with the snake anymore and climbed to the third floor to enter the bathroom, where she took another comfortable hot shower.
The shower didn’t take too long. Right after, she put on a dry bathrobe to practice in the training room.
She took out the ancient book, and as before, flipped to the introductory techniques. Then she placed the book on her knees, closed her eyes, formed a fixed hand gesture, and began to practice by holding her breath and focusing her mind.
About a quarter of an hour later, Yan Xiaosi felt her body becoming as light as a feather, and she was drifting with the wind.
She didn’t know how long she had been drifting when her vision turned pitch black, so dark that she couldn’t see her fingers.
“Where is this?”
Fortunately, she didn’t sense any danger around her. She was just puzzled about how she suddenly ended up in such a strange place after taking a bath and practicing in the training room.
“Is anyone there? What place is this?”
After searching for a long time and not finding an exit, she shouted out loud, but the only response was her echo.
“It seems this place is somewhere within the portable space, with no other humans present.”
With no other choice, she continued drifting forward with the wind.
After an unknown amount of time drifting, her head started to feel dizzy when suddenly a glimmer of light appeared in front of her.
The faint light illuminated a corner of the dark space.
Having been in the darkness for so long, the sudden appearance of light made her eyes ache, but she was overjoyed inside.
“Perhaps the exit is there.”
She tried hard to open her eyes wide, focusing on the light, and controlled her body to drift towards it.
When she finally drifted to the side of the light, she saw it clearly. There was no exit here; the light was emitted by a small cluster of white mist. The mist was only about the size of an adult’s fist. What astonished her was that in the center of the white mist, there was a tiny human figure the size of a walnut. The figure was naked, sitting cross-legged with closed eyes in the middle of the mist. Despite the small size of the figure, she recognized it at a glance – it was herself. The blood-tear mole at the corner of the figure’s eye was identical to her own.
Just as she was staring at the illusory figure with confusion, a force suddenly appeared beside her, violently pulling her away from the dark space.
“Ah!”
She screamed in surprise and suddenly opened her eyes, finding herself back in the training room on the third floor of the small Western-style building.
Dark space, white mist, and a shadow.
Suddenly, she remembered that the ancient book had mentioned these things. She quickly stopped practicing and picked up the book to search for information.
Soon, she found the page about the sea of consciousness. After reading it, she finally understood that she had just been introspecting her own sea of consciousness. The dark space she had seen was her sea of consciousness, and the white mist and the illusory figure were the divine sense she had just condensed.
Thinking that she had successfully condensed her divine sense, Yan Xiaosi couldn’t help but stand up excitedly.
“Yay, that’s great!”
She couldn’t contain her excitement, holding the ancient book and jumping three feet high.
The ancient book said that once the portable space owner obtained divine sense, they could use it to manipulate the portable space. Not only that, but the portable space and the spirit spring would also evolve with the changes in the owner’s body.
Suddenly, she remembered something else.
No wonder the withered black-tailed snake had become so lively shortly after entering the space. It must be that she had successfully condensed a bit of divine sense, so the portable space had changed accordingly.
After practicing, she put the ancient book back in the study, went downstairs joyfully, and headed to the basement.
She wanted to see if there were any other changes to the black-tailed snake.
When she moved the hoe that was pressing on the basket and looked through the finger-sized gap on the top, she was stunned to see the black-tailed snake inside.
In just a short time, the black-tailed snake had grown larger, and it had eaten all the rice she had thrown in.
She hadn’t expected the food left behind by the previous space owner, Yan Nanfeng, to be so nourishing for the snake.
Looking at the now plump, chubby black-tailed snake, the corner of Yan Xiaosi’s mouth curled up.
It was perfect that the snake had grown fatter – there would be more meat to eat when she cooked it.
“Greedy snake, you like eating rice so much, huh? Big sister is generous; I’ll throw some more in for you.”
She smiled and picked up the hoe, pressed it back on the basket, and added a hammer to weigh down the basket even more. Then she went to the grain storage to fetch more rice to throw into the basket.
Rumble!
Yan Xiaosi was watching the black-tailed snake enjoying its rice when a sudden rumbling noise by her ear startled her.
“It’s thundering!”
According to the ancient book, the space had spring-like weather all year round, with constant sunshine, so there shouldn’t be thunder, wind, or rain. The thunder she heard at this moment must have come from the outside world.
Rumble!
Another burst of thunder sounded by her ear. Because she could now condense some divine sense, her perception of the outside world was particularly clear. This round of thunder nearly deafened her.
Judging by the situation, there would definitely be heavy rain tonight. The broken grass temple hadn’t been repaired, making it difficult to provide shelter from the wind and rain.
She was just thinking about hurrying out of the portable space and figuring out a way to get through the night when she suddenly heard Yan Shuqin’s voice by her ear.
“It looks like it’s going to rain, and Yan Xiaosi still hasn’t returned.”
Then Ms. Zhong spoke: “Shuqin, Shuxue, Shuyun, you three sisters stay at home. I’ll go to the dam outside the village to look for Yan Xiaosi.”
“Mom, let me go with you. Just let my second and third sisters stay at home.”
Yan Shuqin spoke again.
“With the thunder so loud, it’s not safe for you to go out. I’ll bring that kid back.”
Just as Yan Shuqin’s words fell, Long Hao’s voice sounded by her ear, making her feel somewhat surprised and then somewhat happy.
Fortunately, she hadn’t saved an ingrate.
“Mom, big sister, second sister, third sister, I’m back.”
As Long Hao was about to go out and look for her, her voice suddenly sounded, and then a petite figure walked towards them through the darkness.
Ms. Zhong, Yan Shuqin, Yan Shuxue, and Yan Shuyun all sighed in relief when they saw her return.
Looking at her soaking wet clothes, as if she had taken a bath with her clothes on, Ms. Zhong, Yan Shuqin, Yan Shuxue, and Yan Shuyun all sighed in relief again.
Long Hao’s gaze swept over her, his eyes somewhat doubtful.
He realized that this kid was somewhat elusive.
“Since she’s back, I’ll go back to my room and sleep.” He had never been one to meddle in other people’s affairs. Although he was suspicious, he didn’t ask Yan Xiaosi anything and turned to go back into the house.
