Chapter 30 – Search (I)
After Chen Dahe yelled at Ms. Zhong, he turned his gaze to Village Chief Liu Qianhe.
Upon hearing this, Yan Shuqin felt a surge of anxiety in her heart.
The dog’s bones and internal organs had been dealt with, but the dog’s skin was still hanging inside the house. The Liu family arrived so quickly that they didn’t have time to hide the skin. Besides, their home was so small that it was impossible to hide it.
“Chen Dahe, don’t talk nonsense in front of the village chief. My fourth brother is not even 15 years old and is skinny and small. How could he defeat you three? The missing dog has nothing to do with my fourth brother.”
Chen Erhe sneered, “Yan Shuqin, why are you so nervous? If Yan Xiaosi stole the village chief’s dog, just let the village chief and Qianqian search the broken straw temple. If they don’t find the dog inside, then Yan Xiaosi is innocent.”
Ms. Zhong, Yan Shuqin, Yan Shuxue, and Yan Shuyun couldn’t stop the Liu family and the Chen brothers.
As soon as Chen Erhe finished speaking, the three Chen brothers tried to push aside Zhong Shi, Yan Shuqin, Yan Shuxue, and Yan Shuyun, while the Liu family father and daughter rushed towards the kitchen.
Yan Xiaosi, hiding behind the firewood, saw the Liu family about to enter the kitchen and clenched her fists in anxiety.
She had been careless, forgetting that the dog’s skin was still hanging in front of the window.
“Let’s see who dares to barge in.”
As she wondered how to deal with the Liu family and the Chen brothers, a deep voice rang out.
Liu Qianhe and his daughter Liu Qianqian, who had already entered the kitchen, retreated.
Yan Xiaosi looked towards the sound and saw Long Hao standing at the kitchen door. His tall figure blocked the entrance entirely.
The Chen brothers, who had been trying to restrain Ms. Zhong, Yan Shuqin, Yan Shuxue, and Yan Shuyun, stopped when Long Hao appeared.
The three brothers were shorter than Long Hao and didn’t know his background, so they didn’t dare to act rashly.
Upon seeing Long Hao’s face covered with red rashes, Liu Qianqian was frightened and kept retreating, “Ah, who is this ugly monster?”
Long Hao had never been called an ugly monster in his life.
Liu Qianqian’s words immediately made Long Hao’s face darken, and a cold light shot from his eyes, landing on her.
“I… I misspoke.” Liu Qianqian hurriedly apologized and closed her mouth.
Seeing her almost in tears from being frightened by Long Hao, Yan Xiaosi felt a great sense of satisfaction, smirking while giving Long Hao a mental thumbs-up.
Long Hao really came in handy, turning the arrogant peacock Liu Qianqian into a humble chicken.
Taking advantage of Long Hao blocking the Liu family and the Chen brothers, Yan Xiaosi ran into the latrine.
To make it more convenient for nighttime visits, Ms. Zhong had removed a part of the mud wall and made a door connecting the room to the latrine.
Yan Xiaosi entered the bedroom through the latrine door, quickly took down the dog’s skin, put it into her storage space, and cleaned up the bloodstains on the ground before heading to the kitchen to confront the Liu family.
“What’s going on? Why are you all blocking the doorway?”
Yan Xiaosi yawned and stood behind Long Hao.
Long Hao turned around, glanced at her, and stepped aside, leisurely watching her come out of the kitchen.
Seeing Yan Xiaosi appear, Ms. Zhong, Yan Shuqin, Yan Shuxue, and Yan Shuyun all felt a little uneasy, and their gazes towards Yan Xiaosi were filled with worry.
