The War King Protects His Own

Chapter 241 – The War King Protects His Own

Yan Xiaosi didn’t sleep well last night and felt drowsy at the moment.

Just as she was falling into a light slumber, a flurry of footsteps sounded in the Tian family’s courtyard.

Ms. Zhong and Yan Shuxue were squatting in the yard chopping corn stalks to feed the cow.

Looking up, they saw a servant boy from the Yan family rushing into the courtyard with three guardsmen. They didn’t even have time to stop them.

The Yan family had set a fire to seize land. Now they were coming to make more trouble.

Yan Shuxue angrily stood up and raised the cleaver at the servant and guardsmen.

“What are you trying to do now?”

Emboldened by the trained guardsmen at his side, the servant haughtily glanced at Yan Shuxue and snorted. “Young Master Yan Xiaosi hit the Elderly Young Master. The Old Master ordered us to bring him back for questioning.”

“If you want to take Yan Xiaosi, ask me first if I agree.”

Ms. Zhong suddenly stood up, threw down the stalk in her hand, and blocked the main room with a sharp cleaver.

“The Yan family is going too far. If Yan Xiaosi didn’t fight back, wouldn’t that make him an idiot?”

Hearing her mother and second sister’s furious voices from outside, Yan Xiaosi was startled awake from her daze. She nearly fell off the bench as she flipped over, but steadied herself. She quickly got off the bench and strode into the courtyard.

Tian Dazhuang and Yan Shuqin followed closely behind.

“Dazhuang, Yan Xiaosi, take the poles,” Ms. Wang said, limping out.

Yan Xiaosi and Tian Dazhuang turned to look and saw her holding a carrying pole in one hand. The corners of their mouths twitched.

“Auntie Tian is quite thoughtful.”

Yan Xiaosi took the pole and waved it, her icy gaze sweeping over the Yan servant and three guardsmen.

“Are you four sure you want to fight us?”

Though clearly just a teenager, her tone was imposing. The Yan servant and three guardsmen couldn’t help feeling a bit startled, especially the servant who had already suffered a beating.

His heart trembled. Seeing Yan Xiaosi being so arrogant, he felt quite indignant. Pushing a guardsman, he said, “The Old Master ordered you to bring this person back. Why aren’t you making a move?”

“I’d like to see who dares make a move.”

Just as the three guardsmen were about to act, an authoritative voice came from outside, causing everyone to look over. They saw Long Yi leading several armored soldiers striding in.

Seeing Long Yi’s stern, handsome face, Yan Xiaosi was slightly surprised.

Long Yi entered like rolling thunder, his gaze sweeping over the Yan servant and three guardsmen. He spat out a single word: “Scram!”

Long Yi exuded an aura completely different from ordinary commoners, and he had several soldiers in blue armor at his side.

The servant was clever. Seeing the situation turning unfavorable, he immediately turned and ran out of the Tian house. The three Yan guardsmen rushed out after him.

Ms. Zhong and Yan Shuxue finally put down their cleavers and breathed sighs of relief.

The Yan guardsmen were skilled in martial arts. If a fight really broke out, they would certainly suffer.

Except for Yan Xiaosi and Long Yi, who had arrived just in time, everyone else let out a breath.

Ms. Zhong looked at Long Yi with gratitude. “Thank you for your help, Guard Long Yi.”

Long Yi dropped his stern expression. “This is all by order of the lord. You’re too kind, madam.”

Yan Xiaosi asked in bewilderment, “How did your lord know we encountered trouble?”

“Young Master Yan, this morning, Long Si and Long Wu were patrolling the Four Sisters Mountain. When they reached Big Sister Peak, they discovered the cave had been burned. After learning of this, my lord ordered us to search everywhere for your whereabouts. My lord was quite–”

He had wanted to say “My lord was quite worried about you, Young Master Yan.”

But just as the words reached his mouth, he worried he might have misinterpreted his master’s intentions. Long Yi swallowed back the words.

Yan Xiaosi waited to hear the rest, but saw him close his mouth.

“What about your lord?”

“My lord said Young Master Yan would certainly be fine.”

Yan Xiaosi smiled faintly, a hint of warmth rising in her heart.

“Your lord knows me quite well. Guard Long Yi, please tell your lord I thank him for helping resolve the situation today.”

If they really had to fight just now, she would have had to expend a great deal of energy to deal with the three Yan guardsmen. It wouldn’t have been as easy as it was now.

Long Yi nodded slightly. “Since Young Master Yan is fine, we will return and report now.”

Half an hour later, at the Tongluo Plain military camp.

Long Yu had originally been studying war strategies. Seeing Long Yi enter, he immediately inserted a red flag into the sand table and raised an eyebrow, his tone a bit anxious. “Did you find them?”

After learning the cave at Big Sister Peak had burned down and Yan Xiaosi’s family of five had gone missing, he had dispatched all five of his Dragon Guards to search.

Long Yi was the third to return and report.

“I found them.”

Hearing these three words, Long Yu visibly relaxed.

“Were they injured?”

“No, Young Master Yan and her family are completely unharmed.”

Long Yu narrowed his eyes upon hearing this, a hint of coldness flashing in them.

“Have you determined who set last night’s fire?”

“We have. It was the Yan family’s eldest son Yan Wenfeng. Yan Wenfeng thought Young Master Yan’s family perished in the disaster last night. First thing this morning, he went to seize the three acres of land Young Master Yan’s family had just purchased.”

Long Yu tightened his grip on the edge of the sand table.

The Yan family again. Very good!

Long Yi clearly sensed the atmosphere in the tent had turned oppressive. He cautiously asked, “My lord, how should we deal with Yan Wenfeng?”

Long Yu’s mind turned, and he asked, “How did that brat deal with Yan Wenfeng?”

Based on his understanding of that brat, there was absolutely no way he would just take the beating lying down.

Long Yi had already inquired about this from the Shaoyao villagers half an hour ago. It was the villagers who told him people from the Yan family’s third house were at the Tian house.

“Your subordinate heard that Young Master Yan chased Yan Wenfeng around with a carrying pole, beating him until he fled.”

Long Yu seemed dissatisfied with this form of retaliation and snorted.

“Too lenient.”

Hearing his master use this tone, Long Yi knew the Yan family was in for some misfortune.

Sure enough, his master’s next order was straightforward, decisive and vicious.

“Tonight, under cover of darkness, Long Yi, go set fire to the Yan estate.”

The corner of Long Yi’s mouth twitched fiercely.

He had long known his master was protective of his own, but he didn’t realize his master would go this far to get revenge for Young Master Yan.

“Yes, my lord.”

The scene shifts to the Yan estate.

Old Master Yan was so furious his head throbbed with pain.

First, he had sent three guardsmen to the Tian house to seize someone, but they failed to bring the person back.

Second, he had sent a servant to Daxing Town to request Bai Mingyue, but the doctor wasn’t willing to come.

Not only did Bai Mingyue not come, but he sent a message back with the Yan family servant – tell your Old Master he can start preparing for the Old Madam’s funeral.
