Chapter 23 – Beating the dog
A rock the size of a palm hit the head of the stray dog. The stray dog howled and fell to the ground with shaking legs.
Although Yan Xiaosi was not strong, she had extensive medical knowledge. She knew a lot about human and animal physiology.
When she was at the military medical university, she studied a lot of cadavers, both humans and animals.
Looking at the whining dog lying on the ground, Ms. Zhong said nervously, “Xiaosi, this is the village head’s dog.”
Yan Shuqin, Yan Shuxue put down their firewood. One rushed to help Yan Shuyun, while the other picked up the firewood scattered on the ground.
“Xiaosi, let’s hurry home. If Liu Qianqian finds out that you hurt her dog, she won’t let you go.”
Yan Shuqin picked up the firewood scattered on the ground and urged Yan Xiaosi to leave quickly.
Yan Xiaosi looked at the howling dog lying on the ground and bent down to pick up the hoe.
“Elder sister, I want to eat meat. Now I have it.”
Before Yan Shuqin could react, Yan Xiaosi raised her hoe, and the iron hoe fell on the dog’s head.
The dog twitched a few times and then didn’t move.
Zhong Shi, Yan Shuqin, Yan Shuxue, and Yan Shuyun stared with shock.
“Xiaosi….”
Ms. Zhong was worried about Liu Qianhe finding Yan Xiaosi to settle accounts. Her tone of voice was a touch accusatory.
Yan Xiaosi put away her hoe and began to lift the dead dog.
The dead dog was heavy, and she took pains to lift it with both hands.
It seemed that this dog was doing well in the Liu family. No wonder it was such a bully.
“Mom, it was the beast that hurt the third sister first. If I hurt it, the Liu family would give us trouble. It’s better to kill it, drag it back, stew a pot of meat and eat it. Anyway, no one else saw it. How can the Liu family know that I killed this beast?”
The dog was dead, and Ms. Zhong couldn’t bear to blame her again.
Yan Shuqin tied up the firewood scattered on the ground, and then said to Yan Xiaosi, “Fourth brother, put the dead dog in the back basket immediately. The village is in front of you. You can’t let others see it.”
Yan Xiaosi threw the dead dog into Yan Shuqin’s basket, reminding her that the dead dog was not light. Yan Shuqin might not be able to carry it.
“Elder sister, can you carry it?”
Yan Shuqin squatted down, put the two straps of the basket on her shoulder and stood up.
“I can carry it. Go and help your third sister.”
Yan Shuyun endured pain while carrying firewood.
“It’s only a cut. I’m fine.”
After walking back to the dilapidated temple, the cut on Yan Shuyun’s foot stopped bleeding. The wound was covered with blood clots, and the leg of her pants had been stuck to the wound.
Even a small wound will leave scars if it is not properly treated.
After Yan Shuyun had put the firewood away, Yan Xiaosi pulled her into the kitchen.
“Third sister, sit down first and I’ll fetch a basin of water.”
Yan Xiaosi quickly fetched clean water, and then carefully peeled Yan Shuyun’s bloody pants from the wound.
“Third sister, it will hurt as I clean the wound. You have to endure it. Your cut is a bit long. If we don’t handle it properly, it’ll leave a scar.”
Every child in the third house of the Yan family could endure hardship.
Yan Shuyun frowned in pain, but didn’t make a sound.
“Xiaosi, where did you learn the skill to treat wounds?”
