Sleeping in the War King's Bed

Chapter 226 – Sleeping in the War King’s Bed

Seeing that Yan Xiaosi could still smile, Tian Dazhuang put away his worried gaze. He politely invited Murong Qinjian to leave the camp with him.

After Tian Dazhuang and Murong Qinjian left, only Long Yu and Yan Xiaosi remained in the main tent.

Long Yi and Long Er knew their master was hopelessly passionate. The two tactfully retreated far from the tent, not allowing anyone else to approach.

Yan Xiaosi silently faced Long Yu, feeling the pressure and temperature in the tent drop even further, her skin growing tighter.

“May I ask if Your Highness has any other orders for this commoner?”

Seeing her submissive appearance, Long Yu’s expression suddenly softened. He beckoned to her with his hand.

“Come here and help me grind ink.”

Yan Xiaosi was stunned for a moment.

He kept her behind just to grind ink!

Seeing her hesitate, Long Yu curved his fingers and tapped them beside the inkstone, making a knocking sound.

“Didn’t you say you wanted to work part-time as my personal servant? Come grind the ink.”

Hearing this, Yan Xiaosi really wanted to roll her eyes at him.

Working part-time as a servant wasn’t her choice – she was forced into it! Besides, she hadn’t even officially started working at the camp yet.

Although there was a very dissatisfied voice screaming inside, Yan Xiaosi didn’t dare disobey right now. She could only walk to Long Yu’s side and submissively grind ink for him.

Long Yu sat properly at his desk, holding a thin wolf-hair brush, earnestly making notations on a map.

Yan Xiaosi roughly recognized it – it should be a military map of the area around Four Sisters Mountain.

She didn’t expect the War King to make notations on a confidential military map right in front of her.

She glanced at it a couple of times before asking, “Your Highness, aren’t you worried I might leak secrets since you’re annotating military maps in my presence?”

Long Yu continued making notations without even tilting his body.

“If you had ill intentions, you wouldn’t have lived until today.”

That day when the two first met on Four Sisters Mountain, if Yan Xiaosi had meant any harm, Long Yu would have already taken her life.

Hearing this answer, Yan Xiaosi was at a loss whether to laugh or cry.

Should she be touched that the War King trusted her so much? Or relieved that she didn’t say anything wrong back then?

Unknowingly, over two hours passed. Yan Xiaosi ground ink until her wrist was sore and numb. Long Yu was still sitting at his desk annotating things, seemingly having no intention of stopping.

He didn’t even glance at Yan Xiaosi once, as if he had forgotten her existence.

Yan Xiaosi put down the ink stick beside the inkstone, slowly sitting down after discovering Long Yu was completely focused and hadn’t scolded her.

The floor was covered with a carpet. She sat on it with her hands on the desk, resting her head on her arms after a while when Long Yu still didn’t scold her.

She got up earlier than usual today and left the mountain on an empty stomach. Her body felt slightly fatigued after the journey to Tongluo Plain.

Originally, she just wanted to rest for a bit with her head on the desk. Unknowingly, drowsiness washed over her and she fell asleep.

Hearing the sound of steady breathing, Long Yu stopped his brush and turned to look at her.

Seeing her fast asleep with her head on the desk, her curled lashes resting against her cheeks, he sighed, feeling a bit helpless.

He looked rather uncomfortable sleeping like that. Long Yu thought for a moment, put down the things he was annotating and the brush, bent down, gently wrapped an arm around Yan Xiaosi’s waist, carefully picked up her legs with the other hand, and carried her up horizontally.

“My lord…”

Long Er brought in tea and happened to see this scene. His cheeks instantly flushed red and he gaped in embarrassment.

Long Yu glanced at the tea in his hands and said in a low voice, “Put down the tea and leave.”

He spoke so quietly and gently as if afraid of waking Yan Xiaosi.

“…Yes.”

Long Er quickly averted his dazed gaze, left the tea on the desk, and retreated from the tent with a red face, heading towards Long Yi.

Long Yi saw his odd expression and hurried footsteps, so asked, “Long Er, what happened?”

Long Er stopped, glanced at Long Yi, wanting to say something but hesitating.

He definitely couldn’t tell Long Yi that their lord’s passion was severe and he took advantage of Yan Xiaosi being asleep to carry him to bed.

No, he absolutely couldn’t say that. It would damage their lord’s reputation.

“Ahem, I was just a bit unused to hearing our lord speak to Young Master Yan so gently,” he said.

Long Yi waved his hand, finding that very boring.

“It’s not strange for our lord to be gentle with Young Master Yan. Young Master Yan saved our lord’s life, so our lord values him. It’s called ‘throw a peach, get a plum’ – give and take.”

Long Er: “…”

Give and take to the point of going to bed together.

In fact, the scene wasn’t as dirty as Long Er imagined.

The scene switches to inside the tent. Long Yu was worried Yan Xiaosi would be uncomfortable sleeping bent over, so he carried her to his resting bed. He even carefully covered her with a quilt.

After doing just this, he returned to his desk, drank a cup of tea, and continued annotating with his brush.

With the soft, luxurious bed and brocaded quilt, Yan Xiaosi slept especially comfortably. She slept for nearly two hours before slowly opening a pair of drowsy, hazy eyes.

Upon opening her eyes, she saw the luxurious yet understated top of the bed canopy.

The cave didn’t have such lavish yet low-key furnishings, let alone her Portable Space.

As her mind gradually became alert, she took in a cold breath and glanced down, seeing a priceless brocade quilt covering her body.

Blankly turning her gaze, she saw Long Yu sitting as straight as a pine at his desk. Taking another sharp breath, her eyes widened to their limit. Confirming she wasn’t seeing things, she was so shocked she somersaulted off the tall bed.

Hearing an “Ow”, Long Yu turned his handsome face to look over, seeing her tumble to the floor wrapped in the quilt.

He frowned and said, “You can’t even sleep normally.”

Yan Xiaosi rubbed her sore bottom, lifted the brocade quilt covering her, and scrambled to her feet.

How did she end up sleeping in the War King’s bed?

“Your Highness, how did I…? Wasn’t I grinding ink for you?”

Long Yu put down the map he had been annotating, sitting properly at his desk. With a straight face, he said, “Earlier, while grinding ink for me, you accidentally fell asleep. I was about to wake you when you seemed to sleepwalk and climbed into my bed.”

He paused for a moment.

“Yan Xiaosi, I’ve never seen a servant quite like you.”

Yan Xiaosi listened with a red face, scratching her head.

In her past life, she didn’t seem to have a sleepwalking problem. Could it be that this body in this life had a habit of sleepwalking?

“Your Highness, may I ask if you need me to grind any more ink?”

The atmosphere was a bit awkward and she wanted to leave as soon as possible.

Under her hopeful gaze, Long Yu slowly put down his brush. “No need.”

Her eyes brightened. She bowed to Long Yu with cupped hands.

“Since Your Highness has no further need for me to grind ink, this commoner shall take my leave.”
