Chapter 192 – Conversation with Master Liu

Liu Xu followed Yan Xiaosi to the outside courtyard. “There’s no one else here, Young Master Yan. You can speak your mind.”

Yan Xiaosi stopped, turned to face him, and asked directly, “May I ask, Master Liu, if you are fond of my third sister?”

Liu Xu realized what Yan Xiaosi referred to and showed a look of embarrassment. “Young Master Yan is right. I am ashamed.”

Yan Xiaosi was satisfied with his humble demeanor. “I hope Master Liu will consider his own reputation and that of my third sister.”

After Yan Shuyun finished distributing the osmanthus cakes and returned to the workshop, she found Yan Xiaosi but not Liu Xu. “Xiaosi, where is Young Master Liu? What did you talk about?”

“We just chatted briefly about the busy storefront, and then he went to help out there,” Yan Xiaosi replied.

Yan Shuyun believed her, as they had only met a few times and likely had little to discuss.

“Third sister, Master Liu said you could take tomorrow off since our family is starting construction of our house. Finish today’s work and you can come home with us.”

Hearing this, Yan Shuyun was delighted. “Mom, elder sister, second sister, Xiaosi, you go ahead. I’ll come back after finishing my work.”

Knowing Yan Shuyun wouldn’t leave Xu Family Fur Store until the afternoon, Ms. Zhong and the others left first. Unwilling to spend money on hiring a carriage, the four of them walked back to Shaoyao Village.

Ms. Jiang frowned at the servant, “Didn’t you say the eldest miss was back? Where is she?”

The servant looked innocent. “Madam, I clearly saw the eldest miss at the main entrance just now.”

Old Master Yan felt something was amiss, his heart tightening. Given Yan Shujing’s character, if she had been favored by the War General, she would have rushed to share the news.

As the servant was about to dash out, Granny Li hurried in with an anxious expression.
