Please Spare Me A Tail [Apocalypse]

Lu Ye didn’t want to continue this topic, so he stood up. Wen Liansheng also didn’t want to make the atmosphere tense, so he took out his phone and said with a smile, “I heard you gave your gun to a girl?”

Lu Ye raised his eyebrows slightly, took it over and looked at the messages in the group chat, and cursed with a smile: “These little bastards.”

Dare to make jokes on him.

But, is it really that little girl?

Wen Liansheng also asked, “Does that girl have psychic power?”

Lu Ye was also not sure. Thinking of Bai Xiaohu’s stupidness and how she smashes the zombies, do psychic type espers…act like that?

Wen Liansheng looked at his expression: “You don’t know her well?”

“Of course not, it was just a chance encounter.”

Wen Liansheng said: “Then if you have no objection, I plan to get in touch with her when the opportunity comes. No matter what you’re thinking, since our team already exists, it has caused a lot of jealousy and made a lot of enmities. If we don’t absorb new blood and continue to grow stronger, the children in the team will not end well when someone overtakes our status. Even if we don’t fight with others, there are dangers everywhere outside.”

A person who seems to have psychic supernatural power, regardless of stance, every force will scramble for it. He must fight for it too.

The reason why Zhongyang’s team is so strong that no one dares to mess with it, and why the casualty rate of missions is extremely low, is precisely because there are many masters in the team.

Lu Ye was silent for a while, nodded in agreement, but suddenly his face changed slightly: “After Pan Gu went to rescue the emergency, there’s gonna be four people with supernatural powers in the team.”

Wen Liansheng soon understood: “You mean?” Four people with supernatural powers, plus someone who is suspected to have psychic supernatural power who hasn’t gone far…

At this moment, the alarm bell in the hall rang sharply. It was a first-level distress signal sent by a team member outside.

The correspondent on duty ran out from the opposite workshop and shouted: “Captain Lu, Captain Wen, the distress signal was sent by Pan Gu from a commercial street on Xinchang Road, Jiaxing County.”

With a solemn expression, Lu Ye returned the phone to Wen Liansheng: “I’ll go.”

……

Xinchang Road Commercial Street. The street that was surrounded by more than a dozen people just now became empty again, except a few pools of blood fresh on the ground. In the previous  convenience store, three corpses were torn to pieces. A tall zombie in ragged clothes squatted on the ground and gnawed on something.

The man who was embedded in the wall finally woke up slowly. His head hurt like it was put in a blender, but before he got out of the wall, he saw the zombie squatting on the ground chewing, and got so frightened that he couldn’t dare to make any sound.

Especially after he saw the corpses of his three companions. They died miserably, clearly torn to pieces by this zombie.

He trembled uncontrollably, but because he was embedded in the wall and couldn’t move, he didn’t make much sound. He looked at the zombie in fear but saw that it wasn’t gnawing on the bones as he imagined. Instead, it was something that looked like a fruit core with a bit of red flesh on it, sort of like a plum pit.

That thing was about the size of a portion of one’s pinky, and the zombie awkwardly picked one up with its stiff fingers and stuffed it into its mouth, crunching and chewing, as if it was savoring carefully. The man felt that he must be hallucinating. Don’t zombies have no mind of their own, so how can they taste things?

After it finished gnawing the one in its mouth, it picked up another one to continue gnawing.

When that one was also finished, the zombie became visibly irritable. It raised its head, and the man saw a blue-gray face with yellowish-white eyes. The eyeballs were the size of pinholes and were just a little over ten centimeters away from him. It was making a beast-like wheezing from its throat as if it was about to pounce on him the next moment.

The man’s teeth were chattering, and as his pants suddenly got wet, he passed out.

The zombie went up to sniff him and seemed disgusted, so it didn’t bite the man. Instead, it walked out of the facility with heavy and stiff steps  while slamming into the door frame. It smelled the wind, and suddenly a whirlwind appeared around it, and the whole zombie disappeared.

At the same time, several streets away from here, Bai Xiaohu kept sighing.

In the memory of the man in the wall, this area is the only commercial area nearby, but she walked down a few streets, and many shops were smashed and looted as clean as they could be. The more important the supplies were, the less likely to be left behind. Not to mention delicious food, there aren’t even biscuit crumbs left.

Bai Xiaohu was chewing dry instant noodles while walking on the street. She met a few zombies, and she could see the demonic energy from a distance, so even if the zombies were hiding in a corner, the demonic energy exuded from their bodies would expose them.

Sometimes, Bai Xiaohu wants to just leave them alone but thinks of the risks these zombies possess on humans, and how miserable the life of humans here is. After all, she and humans are all creatures with intelligence, so if Bai Xiaohu can kill the zombies easily, she takes the time to do so.

In just a few minutes, she killed three zombies.

She got three more crystal cores but found that she had nowhere to put them. Her belt is close to full and couldn’t fit anymore.

Afterward, she walked a few steps past a luggage store, then backed up a little. Way inside the store, on the highest shelf, hung a lonely, yellow-orange, beetle-shaped toddler’s backpack that’s still wrapped in a plastic bag.

Bai Xiaohu laughed: “Hehehe.” She pointed her finger and said, “Bag.” That’s right, that’s what humans here call this thing.

After a while, she threw the guns, knives, and crystal cores that she had in her belt into the bag, and the little chicken demon twittered on her shoulder, Bai Xiaohu was surprised: “You want to go in too? All right, go ahead.”

Stuff the little chicken demon in, and zip up the bag, she put the little bag on her shoulder with some difficulty and continued shopping.

Suddenly, she looked at the skirt on her body. People here don’t seem to wear clothes like this. There is a saying that one should always adapt to the local culture, so shouldn’t she change into the clothes here?

She thought about it. In a clothing store, she passed by just now, there seemed to be a skirt hanging on the wall.

She walked back quickly and found the store. With a light wave of her palm, the dress on the wall flew down from the wall.

The skirt is made of shiny material, dark yellow, without sleeves, the hem is not long enough, and the fabric is very thin. Would it be strange to wear this?

Bai Xiaohu scratched her head while holding the skirt, and walked out with some annoyance. Then, she suddenly saw a group of people rushing over from the street.

They were all dressed in black. At first glance, she thought it was a group of zombies, but she didn’t feel the fluctuations of the demonic energy and soon realized that it was a group of humans in black clothes. Several of them were bloody, and they looked panic-stricken as if evil wolves were chasing after them.

Bai Xiaohu looked at them curiously and politely retreated to the side of the road. After all, the street is not too wide, so she was planning to let them pass first.

Unexpectedly, there was a man with green hair in the  crowd who looked surprised when he saw her, and shouted from afar, “It’s you!”

Ah?

Bai Xiaohu has just learned a little bit of the language here from someone else’s memory, and never had the chance to practice it yet, so she is not sure what the man is yelling, so she just nodded in a daze: “Ah.”

Feeling that they wanted to talk to her again, she felt a little bit hectic. She’s still not fluent in the human language here, so she hurriedly made a gesture of ‘go ahead’, which meant that you should keep running, go wherever you need to go, and there’s no need to stop and talk to me.

She also wondered why they seemed to know her.

However, when those people saw her gestures, their eyes lit up in surprise, and the one with green-hairs shouted gratefully: “Thank you!” At the same time, he shouted to the people behind him, “Go in and hide.”

Then a group of people roared into the store behind Bai Xiaohu, where she had just come out.

Bai Xiaohu: Huh? Ehhhhh?

She was stunned. Why did they run into the house? That house didn’t seem to have a back door either…

Seeing this group of people running in, she was so confused, she couldn’t understand the situation at all. However, her heart tightened suddenly, she turned around and saw that a few meters away, the wind was swirling, and thick black air bulged from the air out of nowhere.

Translator’s note:

I learned a new word today and am considering referring to people with supernatural powers as Espers. Less letters, faster typing 👍
